Westport was pretty decent for me yesterday. Caught and lost 2 lingcods, one broke off as I was reaching for it on the rocks and the other slipped out of my hands and into a deep crack between 2 boulders. Caught countless kelp greenlings ranging from small to large, a few black rockfish with the biggest being around 2.5 lbs. It was frustrating to lose the lings but all in all, it was a productive day lol. While I've tried fishing the gamut of rockfish lures, a simple high low rig with about 3/4oz to 1 oz of lead and 4 inch gulp minnows always produce fish consistantly.
Congratulations brother. It's so much fun there, wish it's not 6 hours round trip drive for me. I can do jetty fishing all day long and everyday if I could. How far did you go?
Ill be heading out there September 5. Think its still a good time to fish? Ps. I never knew you could get rock fish out there. You alone have motivated me to give it a shot!!!
Early September should still be good. If you have never been there before, watch your every step, it's quite dangers sometimes, never step on wet rocks or any seaweed.

That looks a little dangerous on the rocks
@@junebuchholtz287 Jetty fishing is dangerous sometimes, always be cautions when you are over there.

@@BashiWAFishingi fished a bit before the horn and then a few spots not too far past there.
@@tldrafaik6144 You can find giants close to the end of jetty
@@BashiWAFishing that's my goal next time. Packed too much and backpack was heavy so I just stopped where it looked decent.
@@tldrafaik6144 Good luck next time, let me know
Wow nice thank you bashi for sharing us the video i feel that im the one catching it hahaha
Thanks Michael, we will do it together someday
Yes thank you
So, it looks like this video was for me. if I can't catch next weekend, its because you caught all the rock fish at the Jetty. LOL
I saved some for you brother
Beaytiful fish. Really nice video. Thank you
Thanks a lot for your support my friend
rockfish fishing is always so much fun id also love to see you do some coho and chinook fishing this year
I will try my best my friend. Salmon fishing should be great after the rain
North? I figured out my setup was wrong for rock fishing in this area, you did a good job and I learnt it from you today.
Thanks my friend, this setup worked great for me through last few years
you're really professional!
Thanks my friend
very nice video
Thanks my friend
Headed out tomorrow! Can’t wait!
It will be great tomorrow, good luck
Got my limit of rockfish the last two days at the Westport jetty! Super fun. It’s a tough walk though.
Congratulations! I also like the walk part, even if we can't get fish, at least we can lose some weight, lol
@@BashiWAFishingthis weekend was the first time I’ve actually had some success out there; thanks to your videos. Keep it up!
@@non_dogmatic That's great to hear! I will try my best.
How about a catch and cook? How do you cook them? Its so difficult to clean but i love fried calamari
Do you mean squid my friend?
Will be out there this weekend? I'd love to fish with you and have the same enthusiasm when I catch one!
I would love to go but can't make it this weekend
Bashi = Best
Thanks a lot for your kind words, my friend
Was in Westport jetty this morning. Caught 4, but i got snagged 3 times in a row after, so I called it a day at 8 am lol
That's quite good brother
@BashiWAFishing not as good as Bashi the Rockfish slayer

@@BashiWAFishing Thanks will do!
I appreciate your time and expertise in putting together these adventures. I know you fish Westport, where is this jetty? Thanks so much...
Thanks my friend, this was ocean shores jetty
What type of line are you using? Mono? Braid?
main line is braid, lead line is mono
@@BashiWAFishingthank you! I can’t seem to find a 2/3 oz egg sinker, could you send me a link?
Should you go as far as you can on the jetty?
Usually that's the case
Thank you! Your alot of help to us just getting started.
That's the motivation for me to make more videos
Don’t you think you over limits dally bag limits in a hour or so ?
Nice video Bashi! Do you think 20lb braid main line and 10lb leader line will be fine for black rock fish?
It will work for black rockfish, but you will lose lingcod and cabezon
This was on low tide at Ocean Shores north jetty? Awesome catch by the way!
Early in the morning at north jetty
How early in the morning do you go?
@@asinn826 Usually around 7am
how far out do you normally walk?
At Westport, I always pass the horn. At ocean shores, I keep switching spots until I find the fish
I’m curious to know where you stand at the west port jetty to land bigger sea bass? every time I go I land smaller sea bass
Try to go as far as you can, about 100ft pass the horn is great
It is early morning you fishing there? Low tide? Did you look for sand bat or holes etc? Thano
Early morning is good, tide is less important
Is this in ocean shores north jetty ?
Yes, it is
You use Carolina gig with 3/4 oz egg weight?
Correct
Are you sure? I saw a shad dart with a paddle lure which is in no way bigger than 1/4oz.
@@biotester The 3/4oz egg weight is on the main line, forgot to mention in the video, but you can see it there.
@@BashiWAFishing Ok that makes sense, thank you!
Anytime my friend
What is the location? Westport?
It's ocean shores
@@BashiWAFishing It's a very short jetty, do you walk out to the end of it? Or you fish the rocks right off Ocean Shores Blvd road?
@@dtseng19 Both are quite good
