Angelo Amon true. Not that I believe it but I understand why some believe lebron is a better player, however no one will ever be as iconic and influential as Jordan
MJ cause the biggest shadow in the NBA and globally. Even kids who never watch a basketball game would know the name Michael Jordan. Even today we are still looking for the next guy to take Jordan's place. Closet we got was a copycat in Kobe but even he wasn't as efficient and impactful in the game. Lebron is nothing similar to Jordan other than jersey number. He's the biggest sports icon in the world. He help basketball spread globally. If MJ did not exist, Ewing, Miller, and the legends of the 90s would have rings. He made a lot of hall of famers ringless. Something Lebron and Kobe has never done. If Jordan didn't retire after 98. The 99 Spurs wouldn't have won it all. A 35 year old MJ (last title) is still a better player than half of the leagues best player today in their prime.
@Jowee Tee Hakeem, Karl Malone, Magic, Bird, Sir Charles, David Robinson, Ewing, Shaq, Rodman, Gary Payton, Dominique, Shawn Kemp, even Mark Price, the bad boys defensive strategic.
@Jowee Tee I could play your game too, man. David, Hakeem, Ewing, Shaq would kill Embiid, Jokic, not so much AD, but still. 90s big men all day. Karl, Charles, Rodman would eat PG. Not against KD, Kawhi, or Giannis. I don't see prime vs prime, anyone is far better than anyone. Strength wise I give it to 90s, even defensive end. 10s guys are great too. Besides KD, no other is more effective than Bird. Even with KD, he would really come out as clear better. Shawn and Dominique may be a stretch. But they are also really good. About guards, you name 3: Curry, Westbrook, and Harden. Those who are bad and somehow okay at defend. Magic is clearly better than them overall. Gary is better at defensive side. Mark Price may be a stretch too. But his efficiency is good. Your guys vs my guys, I see game 7. So don't come out here and disrespect the 90s. The 10s guys just look good stats wise because of today's play style.
Um, what does playing for Portland have anything to do with it? Plenty of great players went nowhere playing elsewhere. Portland built a great team around him, as they should have - and they won consistently, making the Finals twice. So playing for Portland actually benefited Drexler.
@@MuckBulligan I don't think it hurt his career. Just his popularity for a bit. Portland was a small market (compared to LA, Detroit, Chicago NY, Boston) team and a lot of the larger cities in the US didnt get to see a lot of Blazers regular season home games.

Clyde never played with a top 5 position player until He hooked back up with Olajuwon and what happens........Championship!!! And then what does Jordan do: Go and get Rodman and Ron Harper in addition to Kukoc the previous year. Clyde not winning is do to His circumstances. People always claim Kobe, Wade, and West were better, but even Jordan himself isn't winning in '92 vs. Jordan *and* Pippen. When Kobe was put in the same situation in '07/08, he lost. With Clyde, give Him Shaq, Lebron and Bosh and He isn't losing. Clyde is the #2 atg SG behind Jordan. I guarantee had Houston selected Clyde in the '83 draft instead of Rodney McCray, and pair Him with The Twin Towers or just Olajuwon alone; Mike ain't being worshipped like he is today.
Finally! I've been waiting for this video. Clyde the Glide is so underrated, he's in my top 5 shooting guards of all time. I wish he would get more recognition from fans.
Clyde the Glyde is my favorite player of all time with Hakeem a very close second. These two men were not only two of the best to ever play but they are also two of the most quality men to ever play the game. Hays off to them
As a Houstonian, I would have absolutely loved to see that Jordan, Olajuwon and Clyde trio. It would be unfair to have these three in their prime together lol.
Even though i was never a Trailblazer fan, i would always try and watch them as much as i could because Clyde the Glide was one of my favorite players ever. I was always in awe how high and far he could jump and he did with style and power. Top 5 shooting guards of all time.
Clyde is one the greatest NBA players ever. My brother and I used to root for the guy because of his finesse. He was beyond excellent. It remains one of my favorite players when it comes old school NBA.
One of your best videos, the footage was excellent. Clyde was 2nd to Jordan on 90's era. The 92 finals was closest the Blazers got to winning another title. 👍
Really awesome video, my man. Love this series. Guys like Clyde and Fat Lever and Alex English and Skywalker get so overlooked. Hell, Sidney Moncrief is hardly even known to NBA fans younger than 25.
Dean Lake Mullin played both the 2-3. I always considered him more of a 3 but he was the same height as Drexler but 20 pounds lighter. Same with Pippen. Given the competition they were facing, I dont think they were too worried about traditional matchups.
The 360 Spin Move was his signature move, would be nice to have that highlighted. He did it faster than anyone else at the time. One of the first to apply excelence in footwork 🙌🏽
As an old timer, (born in the 70s) seeing the part where you say Jordan 'destroyed him' in 92 just couldnt be further from the truth. Jordan couldnt guard him and most of the time he got switched on or double teamed by Pippen. (Watch the series im not making this up). He average close to a triple double whilst facing a double of Jordan and Pippen. Let that sink in. In the moments when it was 1 on 1 against Jordan, he dunked by, facialed or shot the ball on MJ most of the time.
I'm late to the game on this reply, but as a Portland native who attended every single playoff game from the late 80's through the early 90's, and as somebody who remembers those finals like it was yesterday, I can say with confidence MJ absolutely destroyed Clyde. Clyde on 20 shots per game shot .400 from the field. His efficiency killed the Blazers in what was actually a close series. He also hit 3 out of 20 3 pointers. Clyde forced shots to try to keep pace with MJ, and that was the one thing that couldn't happen. Clyde didn't need to be the best player in the series (Was never going to happen with MJ on the floor). Because Portland was deeper, Clyde needed to just be clearly the 2nd best player in the series, and due to his horrid inefficiency, he wasn't, Pippen easily was better than Clyde that series (20/8/7 off far better shooting, plus playing fantastic defense). Clyde being at best the 3rd best player in the series is why Chicago won. In game 6, where the Blazers had a lead in the 4th and only lost by 4, Clyde was 8-24 shooting again forcing bad shots trying to keep pace with MJ. He did get destroyed by MJ and is the main reason the Blazers lost that series.
Clyde was my favorite NBA game. At that time I was 13-16 years old and I remember waiting for matches with him until the night. I'm from Poland. We have NBA matches broadcast at 2 am.
He is and was a constant professional who was grateful to get to play the game he loved for a living. He was a top 20 player in probably the most gifted era of talent the NBA. He doesn't get the respect he earned because he was before social media. I was lucky enough to get him to autograph a basketball for me after a game in Atlanta, he was so nice and thanked me for coming out to support them. I've still got that ball and it is one of my favorite pieces of NBA collectables. Great video
@@rcole718 I feel you on that. How could we ever leave out the Reign Man! Honestly, I think Shawn sometimes gets left out because of his off-the-court issues. He’s the 5th greatest SG of all time imo and I feel that he’s very underrated overall. He was kind of a mini Michael Jordan as far as general skill set, and also one of the best 90s scorers and best dunkers ever.
Like Wilkins, Clyde was similar to Jordan in terms of driving hard toward the rim for the dunk and soaring high for a power dunk. He’s one of the many top competitors that Jordan faced. Many Bron fans don’t know that. This guy, Wilkins and Jordan are some of the guys from the 90s who would dunk on Bron regularly.

That’s cool that you make a video about him. People always put D.Wade 3rd Best Sg of all time like that’s a no brainer but that’s close between wade and Clyde
Clyde is definitely an all time great but it's not really close between Wade and him. Drexler held his own against Jordan in the finals. He didn't get destroyed. He took less shots. He was the only player on Portland that did anything in the finals against Chicago.
No I disagree although I have Clyde at 4 for my top 5 Sg list he isn't close to Dwade. I mean 3 Championships + 1 FMVP is already much more playoff success to 1 Championship, and Dwade had a better regular season career as well, having legendary seasons like his 2009 one where he should have been the MVP, with all that I consider Dwade the better defender too. If MJ didn't exist alot more stars from the 90's would be more appreciated. One man (MJ) impacted so many careers, such a crazy thought
Jaire Jonas that’s why he is GOAT no other player casted a shadow that Jordan did currently. I’m not saying no one will ever be better than MJ but no one has played in the NBA or anywhere to have surpassed MJ.
Clyde Is A Underrated 🐐 !!
@ Jonathan Fox- Clyde The Glide Drexler was and still is underrated for sure. But he was and still is the man 4'sho.
Underrated by those that never experienced the greatest era in basketball only
#1 he played for Portland (in spite of having one of the best uniforms and names the Blazers)
#2 he played same time with Jordan
Um, what does playing for Portland have anything to do with it? Plenty of great players went nowhere playing elsewhere. Portland built a great team around him, as they should have - and they won consistently, making the Finals twice. So playing for Portland actually benefited Drexler.
@@MuckBulligan I don't think it hurt his career. Just his popularity for a bit.
Portland was a small market (compared to LA, Detroit, Chicago NY, Boston) team and a lot of the larger cities in the US didnt get to see a lot of Blazers regular season home games.
@@MuckBulligan how were Clyde's teammates "great" when none of them were top 10 in their position? Don't tell Me Cliff Robinson and Terry Porter because they were too inconsistent; meanwhile Jordan had a good Grant & #2 SF in Pippen.
If it wasn’t for Jordan Clyde Drexler would have 4 or 5 first team selections
Not just Jordan. Magic Johnson as well
He would have more than 5
He would have 2 more rings if weren't for Detroit and Chicago
“Waiting for Magic to die” damn what a quote.
That would suck to be Clyde and people make up that he said that. Some people probably stopped liking them when they thought he said that
I don’t think Clyde would ever say that he’s one of the nicest nba players ever 😂
He did say that. It’s wildly out of context though. When you put it in context, it’s exactly what people were thinking at the time.
naquoa shuey oh
that's something you'd expect to come out of Charles Barkley's mouth not Clyde's
Finally! I've been waiting for this video. Clyde the Glide is so underrated, he's in my top 5 shooting guards of all time. I wish he would get more recognition from fans.
My 23y old buddy didn't even know who he was
“Most guys have 2 to 3 go to moves Jordan has 9”
Wow that’s a good insight on how these guys actually played
How good was David west please. He is extremely underrated and one of the best power forwards of the 2000s
Ballhead 456 dirk, kg, duncan, amare, boozer, Elton brand, chris Webber, sheed, Gasol were all better
@@20marvelman david wests prime was a little bit later. But yeah. Id take those guys. The underated one is zac randolph.
He was in an era of bigs so yes, he wasn’t the best of them, but he was a valuable player to every team he played on.
And he averaged over 20 ppg a couple times and grabbed 8 boards per game often. He was a decent defender as well.
@@20marvelman I agree for everyone except Boozer and Brand. West was definitely better than those two. He was underrated
Best b-ball channel man. I love your videos. So informative and chill. Just good ol' comfort food!
He was not even that good.
@@JPSimenoh I can tell you he was extremely good Clyde drexler was better at blocks and rebounding than jordan
One of your best videos, the footage was excellent. Clyde was 2nd to Jordan on 90's era. The 92 finals was closest the Blazers got to winning another title. 👍
Clyde Drexler almost had a quadruple double twice that's how good he was.
Yup, and most fans don't even remember that
Chucky Atkins actually had Triple double.
3:36 wow, I can't believe that dunk was actually in game!
Andy back at it again whenever I feel bored.
The second best at his position during his career. Top 5 all time. Double Hall of Famer (dream team).
So underated and so beautiful to watch.
Don't forget to consider Mitch Richmond. MJ always said Richmond was the 2nd best 2 guard in the league but on a shitty team.
Really awesome video, my man. Love this series. Guys like Clyde and Fat Lever and Alex English and Skywalker get so overlooked. Hell, Sidney Moncrief is hardly even known to NBA fans younger than 25.
My favorite player, one of the best and certainly the most elegant player ever
But Drexler was on the Dream Team.....He didn't get snubbed.
philly_ sports that is true but he was a late addition with Christian Laettner
He was runner up for MVP that year and not picked as the original 10.
@@naquoashuey2794 Which weird considering MJ was the only SG on the team.
Dean Lake
Mullin played both the 2-3. I always considered him more of a 3 but he was the same height as Drexler but 20 pounds lighter. Same with Pippen. Given the competition they were facing, I dont think they were too worried about traditional matchups.
That's cause Chris Mullin was a way more elite shooter from the wing position.
Clyde used to really piss me off rocking that George Jefferson all those years.
I remember at one point, Jordan had a foul called on him because a he was holding Drexler while trying to guard him. They showed it in slow motion
Ahead congratulations to Clyde "The Glyde" Drexler for his tomorrow Birthday, June 22nd; Happy B-day super star and a complete gentleman!!! 🙋🏻♂️🌟🇺🇸
Drexler was an amazing player. Yes definitely underrated.
HE IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE NBA PLAYER SINCE I WAS A KID AND UNTIL NOW... I AM A BIG FAN OF DREXLER FOREVER
Clyde Drexler really is underrated he is top 10 shooting guard of all time and in top 5 dunker of all time
Clyde was my favorite NBA game. At that time I was 13-16 years old and I remember waiting for matches with him until the night. I'm from Poland. We have NBA matches broadcast at 2 am.
No he's not. You should be a LeBron fan.
i dunno why people say mj destroyed clyde in 92 finals. yes mj got the better of him but clyde held his own!!!
Great video
In late 80's and early 90's there were 3 the most exciting players Jordan, Nique and Clyde.
Preach!
Where's Kemp?
I think he maybe means as far as wings?
@@rcole718 I feel you on that. How could we ever leave out the Reign Man!
Honestly, I think Shawn sometimes
gets left out
because of his off-the-court issues.
It's unfortunate that had he had won a few Championships then all that other stuff would be like an asterisk.
I loved Shawn! I believe was on course to be a first ballot Hall of Famer.
Very true.
Bruh, if Sabonis played with Clyde if Sabonis was allowed to played early, they would’ve been the scariest Blazers team of all time.
He’s the 5th greatest SG of all time imo and I feel that he’s very underrated overall. He was kind of a mini Michael Jordan as far as general skill set, and also one of the best 90s scorers and best dunkers ever.
Don't forget a great rebounder
DICK LONG really?
@@nbabackcourtmedia I'd choose Clyde over d wade in a heartbeat idk about Kobe tho
Yep. Underrated and overlooked for sure. I miss those 90s Glyde glory days.
Clyde Drexler was on the Dream Team, otherwise solid video.
Please do how good were the 1986 Houston Rockets.

Drexler being underrated

Great player at Portland, great teammate, strong to the basket and outside shot. Many memories with him and Kersey.
Clyde almost became the 5th player to ever record a quadruple double in 96'
He puts his head down and drives - its as if he has eyes on his head. He always knew exactly where the basket was and finished strong.
Thanks for the video! I was so excited about Clyde’s trade to Houston and Clyde was so good in the playoffs that was a special time for Clyde fans!
Awesome! Clyde is one of my favourite players ever, glad to see him get some recog'.
Clyde is the 4th greatest shooting guard ever behind Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade.

Clyde the glide drexler absolute legend. My very first basketball idol
You should do how good was David Thompson actually because a lot of people (including me) don’t know a lot about him.

But not as much as Dr. J did.
Cool guy meet him when I was working at the airport. He was my favorite player. Total class act
clyde is one of the most forgotten legends
Drexler and Dominique Wilkins are criminally underrated.
Clyde was a blast to watch. One of my favorite players growing up. I looked at him as one of the top 10 players in the NBA from ‘88-‘94. And HIGH UP in that top 10.
I been subscribed since 50k love your videos keep it up
That’s cool that you make a video about him. People always put D.Wade 3rd Best Sg of all time like that’s a no brainer but that’s close between wade and Clyde
Clyde is definitely an all time great but it's not really close between Wade and him.
People try to minimize Wade's career a lot while ignoring the fact that he won a ring as an alpha in his 3rd year!!! That was one of the best finals performances since MJ.
Then just add his 2 other rings on top of that with his great performance in the 2011 finals where LeBron just shat the bed...
Yvans it’s not really close if a general consensus believes one is the 3rd greatest

2.Bryant
3.Wade

5.West

@@simplilumanglas5367 that first ring for Wade was one of the most rigged series in NBA history

Clyde the Glide. Way underrated. Great player, often overlooked
He's the second best shooting guard of his Era after Jordan
Reggie Miller peaked slightly lower, but had a longer pime + the spread legs to get under the defender's skin.
@@maryakopyan3224 Yes.You're right but Clyde played three finals and two of them just because of him (Portland times) and he won the title with Hakeem in 1995 finals and he was the second option in that team and in the early days of career statistics he was by far good from Reggie Miller
No. Reggie Miller all day.
@@serdarkoc3975 Yeah, statistically Drexler's overall better than Reggie all the day. He's got higher averages in all 5 major statistical categories, but the way that Miller spread his legs to draw fouls on incoming defenders, rivals Clyde's signature dunks in its own way. I wouldn't say though that the early 90s Trail Blazers were only Clyde Drexler, although Clyde was easily their best player.

Its tit for tat with d wade and clyde for the 3rd best sg
No I disagree although I have Clyde at 4 for my top 5 Sg list he isn't close to Dwade.
I mean 3 Championships + 1 FMVP is already much more playoff success to 1 Championship, and Dwade had a better regular season career as well, having legendary seasons like his 2009 one where he should have been the MVP, with all that I consider Dwade the better defender too. Both were equal playmaker honestly but as far as impact goes I would easily take Dwade.
