I went to Clyde’s basketball camp in Houston in the late 80’s two years in a row. He is a incredibly nice person, he would talk to the parents and kids, signed autographs. He also gave me a trailblazers pennant with the 1989 team with terry porter, Jerome jersey, Kevin duckworth, etc.I ran into him ten years later and he remembered me by name and asked how my mother was doing.

@@alp21188 Yeah, many people here confuse slow pace w/ intense defense. Back in the late 20th century, annual steals leaders typically reached the 200+ total mark (A. Robertson peaked at 301) and blocks leaders with 300+ (Eaton at 456). In the post-2000 era, such marks were only reached thrice and once (85 games played by Ratliff) respectively. The 1984 draft alone provided a yearly race for the steals title between MJ, Stockton (all-time steals leader), and A. Robertson (all-time spg leader); plus Hakeem as the only center to record 200+ steals. Guards won the DPOY five times in the 80s, once in the 90s, and zero so far in the new millennium. Drexler simply played in the wrong era. During his time, most of the yearly top scorers were forwards & centers alongside MJ while defensive guards actually dominated the DPOY (five times in the 80s, one in the 90s, & zero so far in the 21st century) since its inception in '83. In the new millennium, guards quickly replaced centers among the top scorers and 3pt shooting gradually increased as steals & blocks steeply decreased. One thing to note though is that MJ actually has a higher 3pt percentage than Clyde, but the latter attempted a lot more. Even if his outside shot somehow does not improve in today's long range league, his style of play would've catered very well to constantly slashing towards a spread out defense to either score or dish-off.

@@attainingknowledgeoftruth8348 - You're nuts, dude . Clyde is levels above Iverson. WTF were you watching? Or were you a toddler when he was in his prime? He's slightly behind Wade because of Wade's dominant 06 championship run with a broken down Shaq. Without Wade's 06 ring I would consider them a tie . You're right about one thing though: Whenever I start to lose touch with how great Jordan truly was in his prime, I remember how scary and dominant Drexler was and how Jordan still managed to be a level above him....

One of my favorite all time players ever!! He was so smooth yet quiet with his game. Clyde reminds me of a combination between Ray Allen and Julius "Dr. J Irving

Could not agree more! One of the most underrated players of all time! I'm a Laker fan. Magic is my favorite player of all time. That being said, I watched Clyde Drexler dominate the 92 All Star game. This was back when players still tried to win for East/ West bragging rights. It was amazing to watch! Having moved to Portland, I went to as many Laker/ Blazer games as I could. The Glide was something special to watch. That day in 92 he showed everyone why he was picked as one of the 50 greatest. I argue the top 20. For those of us that watched the game, We know where Magic's shot opportunities came from. While I still consider Magic my personal favorite, He, and everyone else knows who the real MVP was that day.

Clyde was one of the greatest, for sure. A real classy, quiet man, too. One reason he does not get the hype that others do.

Great video. I never knew the Rockets could've had Dream, Clyde, and Jordan at the same time... DAMN!

I remember that frickin stride of his, man! he could just eat up so much ground so fast going end to end. Glide and Jerome Kersey in transition were brutal.

Somewhere in the top 10...always difficult to rank...
    Michael
    Kobe
    Starts to get debatable
The Glide was a pleasure to watch, so smooth & always a threat.
    Excellent video. 🏀🏀🏀

Clyde was the man. I remember watching him when I was 7 or 8 years old just tearing it up against my favorite team at the time, the Orlando Magic.

I rocked my Clyde jersey throughout my high school days in Colorado in the 90's and will always have high praise for "the Glide"!

You are so right about Clyde Drexler not being appreciated today because he was so under appreciated even while he was playing.
My kids talked about how hard Drexler is to play against on NBA 2k. Then they asked me about him. I said he was a beast. Told them about Phi Slamma Jamma and his time with the Rockets.
I loge this video, if I were you, I would extend it and add his College Days with Hakeem. That is such a huge peace of his Legacy. Still a good video though.

My introduction to basketball was the 92 finals. I could not believe the graceful athleticism of Glide and MJ. I have waited my whole life to see NBA athletes reach the bar that they set. I’m still waiting.

I think every kid who grew up in Portland back in the 80s/90s was a fan of Clyde the Glide.
    He was fantastic.

No no no. I lived 45-50 miles south of Portland and he was my idol growing up and everyone loved those teams. Wed watch the games on TV but shut of the volume and turn up the Shonz on the radio.... Blazers have always been an Oregon team, not a Portland team.

Great video, Clyde is very underrated and among shooting guards you can flip him 4th or 5th all-time among 2 guards. I agree Jonny I don't think we would have spoken of him in more light had he been traded to Houston and the Rockets end up drafting Hakeem and Jordan

I was made for this question .
    Shooting guards
    1) Micheal Air Jordan
    2) Kobe black mamba Bryant
    3) Clyde "The Glide" Drexler (favorite
    4) Tracy T-Mac McGrady
    5) Dwyane Flash Wad
