Mark! You really do a good job on those drone footages! and what spectacular scenery!! if/when you get further north on the italien Mediterranean coastline, please look out for "Cinque Terra" north of La Spezia and just before you run into Portofino (nice little harbour) - that is five ancient villages right on the coastline - very beautiful, but the italien coastline is dotted with these very beautiful small cities... Once again, a very nice episode and well done on the solo departure! Thank you!
(Siri dictation) Thank you Mark for the fabulous videos you’re putting up thoroughly enjoy them. Just a thought when you’re birthing alongside jetty wharf maybe do as the ferries do and use the spring line method. Very Simply coming in on the starboard side drop a loop over a Bollard on the jetty attaching it to the second cleat from the front on your boat idle starboard Motor in gear and the boat will gently pull herself into the jetty. You will not need the bow thruster Stern thruster or anything else. It’ll sit there and give the crew plenty of time to walk around. Attach FORD line Stern line and the other spring line just a thought. Thanks again happy sailing.
Absolutely agree and that’s exactly how we used to dock previous boat. I do find that if moving at all the springer grabs and brings bow hard in very quickly. Critical to manage speed. I will try as likely best way on my own to dock.
Lovely episode. Sad your good friends have to depart, but they seem to be very good shipmates. Amalfi coast is not filled with secure harbors and good anchoring spots but the towns are charming and worth the effort.
Beautiful coastline. Great video. Think the next video up might be a bit emotional with Fiona departing. Hankies at the ready. It’s been great watching you two. Best thing on RUclips for boat enthusiasts. Cheers 🥃🏴
Leaving the dock Mark, bit of starboard rudder, then starboard ahead slow, port astern. This will pull you away from the wharf, use the port astern to control the rate of turn. Cheers
@AwanuiNZ just enough rudder to stop the stern swing to the dock, and enough port astern to pull the bow away from the dock. Try it out in the blue water to find the balance. Love your videos and envy your journey. Keep it up cheers Rick
@@AwanuiNZunsolicited advice For backing out of dock starboard side to, try starboard helm, bump ahead port engine and burst of bow thruster to port. This will bring the vessel more or less sideways out to port. Then bump ahead again on port engine which will turn the boat towards the dock (but you are now of course not fully alongside) allowing you to then centre the helm and back straight out on the angle.

Did you ever fit that 747 under the Golden Gate? Must have. That's why that cave at the end looked easy even from a distance. We took some jet boats under the Clyde Dam diversion tunnel many moons ago. That gap looked pretty daunting from a distance but up close you'd probably have fit the biggest Nordhavn through.
Another great video and it is nice to see Italy during the off season, without the thousands of tourists. Now you have pure Italy. Curious to the next episode. See a hole in a rock and............got to do it ! 🤣 Btw, did the CG ever explain why you were not allowed to anchor there ? Or was it only a matter of 'because I say so' ?
You got it in one. He tried to say we were blocking an entrance to a harbour which was a real stretch as any boat heading where we were was going to have more to worry about than coming across us. It has been an area used for anchor on many occasions.
Penny Foolish not having Stern thrusters on this boat. How many times so far it could have been a blessing? THINGS ARE BEAUTIMUS OTHERWISE! I put a bid in on a large Catamaran that sleeps 12 comfortably. It has a stern thruster and over 75'. Perfect for around the world with massive range at 9 knots. Crossing fingers. Hope to see you around the globe somewhere
Here I was thinking you did a good job of docking, just to learn you did it wrong. These seaside villages look just amazing. I’m sure the coast guard gets commission for making you use the marina instead of anchoring for free.
Another beautiful video!
Thanks we enjoy making them
👍
Cool
Love the stone work
Amazing eh

Yip on my own as of tonight so working on a new side of the adventure. I may well get up there in a few days
Sehr schönes Video wieder ! Freue mich sehr dabei sein zu dürfen 😊
Thank you so much
Beautiful places! Getting in those tight marinas would be nerve racking.😊
Nope happy now getting into marinas

Love the drone shots . .
. You make berthing look easy Mark . .
Take care team 💐👍👋🇳🇿🍻twa
Yip drone is pretty special. Thank goodness for automation!
Thanks for sharing. Won’t take the drone under an archway but a couple million dollar boat is no big deal eh? 😂😂😂. Can’t wait for the next one
Haha you make a great point
Thank you Mark great video.
Cheers
love that reyn spooner!
Sorry lost?

Absolutely on all counts
Great episode !
Thank you it was fun making
Such a beautiful coastline, have fun, try not to get too frustrated with the local port authorities. Fair winds.😊
I will and am…thank you

Yip you are right…on my own now heading North up the Italian Coast
I’m a bit jealous of your adventure Mark
Please don’t be just enjoy sharing them vicariously….we all have our dreams and I have been extremely fortunate to have been able to live this one.
and and just in case it goes pear shape you can never have to many fenders out 🤞😁
Yip agreed
nice berthing Mark
Agree, where did we do that?
Thanks I really enjoy working on the skills needed to manoeuvre close to other boats and piers

You saying to take the stern away from the dock? Surely STBD rudder and STBD ahead will turn bow towards the dock?

Yip as always watched someone else go through first!
Great video as always! One thing I’d like to know is did you fix the problem with the stabiliser?
Coming up in future episode…onto it but not fixed

Hilarious narrative and radio comms in Salerno !! What's the name of the track @ 6 mins 20 ??
April Sky….on Epidemic

I hear you

Absolutely…stay in touch. Big boat
Wonder what happens to handicapped people there?
What do you mean?
@@AwanuiNZ Lots of steps living on a cliff
I would like it if you would tell me what the given is in the episodes
Sorry don’t understand?
I mean the month when the podcast was recorded July August etc to see what the weather is like
