Nice unit - congrats 👍- all in one units are the way to go - I purchased the Prime4 about 2yrs ago - so glad I don't need a laptop at gigs. Also - I rarely use 4 channels.
Solid decision. I’m currently in the process of selling my 1000srt. I am not a fan of mechanical jogs you have to apply a good amount of pressure in order to scratch and the cue will slip if you’re not pressing down on the platter enough. The XZ is the exact same jogwheels. I can pull off more scratches with touch capacitive jogwheels. And i never use more than 2 channels. And to customize your DJ logo in the center jogs is great for marketing. Enjoy it!
@@potatoboidvidi XZ has mechanical jogs if you don’t scratch much you’ll love it. I’m personally holding off cause Pioneer is releasing a Rane One type controller very soon.
After the update, can you try it on rekordbox 5 and in performance mode and it works? Let it be the same laptop running rekordbox 6.6.0. I would appreciate the experiment and results please
... after quite some time that I had written my comment, I changed my mind and I was lucky enough to make an even change to take an RX3, I have kept the XZ for two years and I must admit that it is and remains the best standalone of the Pioneer house but the various times that I had to go out to play somewhere led me to the conclusion of making this change. I got it a few weeks ago and I tried it a bit at home and the first feeling I got was that it has a much faster processor .... load a track into the deck with 3x speed compared to the XZ, the effects are the same and the channels in standalone are always two. I have to admit that your decision was right and my words were unconscious .... however the XZ still remains the flagship of Pioneer dj today ..... I also think the pioneer purpose when they thought this standalone has been to keep it fixed in a home studio disco bar, which in practice does not have to move or carry around .... that's why the rx series has always existed before 2 now 3. For all those who are still undecided to take this step, I can only say that it is a show !!!!!
@Jon O great video... now that you had some time with the RX3 whats your thoughts on any cons with this controller? Also what would be your next upgrade if you decided to upgrade?
Only one main reason... the portability, but... both machines are really professional, if you wanna feel the complete different with the components, you really need a big expense sound hardware...
I believe on the XDJ-XZ you can hook turntables or cdjs or other equipment and use it without a computer. It's just you can't use four digital tracks on Rekordbox without a computer, only two.
Im just a bedroom Dj and i bought the XDJ-XZ to be honest. 400$ ekstra did not bother me at all. But i agree that i never use the 4 channel mixer. To be honest i think all the effects and sounds are out on date. Thats why i mix with out effects. The RX3 are more than enough for home use or even for a small bar/club imo.
Actually I’m only just starting to use and enjoy it. Nearly sold it due to non use. For all my gigs I take a DDJ 400. But even after all this time, it’s relevant, and still was the right choice. May start gigging it soon.
@@jono540 that's good to know. I have a flx4 and the ease of portability for small gigs is huge. I definitely got bit by the USB bug after playing on CDJs and stand-alone units 😂
You probably did not research enough before recording this video on the characteristics of the XZ because there are no comparisons when compared to the RX-3. Aside from the display, the XZ wins on all points. To this day, the Pioneer Dj Power House still remains. It will only be possible to compare and contrast when the update of the XZ itself is released.
Beside having two extra faders for external devices, what are all the other points? Am I missing something? Seems like the audio quality and everything else would be the same and you’re only able to play two tracks on an XM via usb so… I would think taking it on the road or to set up for shows the RX three wins on a lot of points there too
@@ericfischer2852 Two years ago after I wrote this post, I changed my xz to an rx3.....and I made the right choice. Much easier to transport, larger display and faster processor than the xz. So I have to admit that what I wrote back then wasn't like that. Rx3 much better.
Xdj xz is by far the better console ...I know because I have one and the bottom line is identical to CDJ 2000 and 900 mixer but as one piece and it has 4 channels....that beats the rx3 right there
Thanks for the video. will buy this in a heartbeat when it hits my nearby store
You made the right choice imo, got mine coming tomorrow

@18:00 a lesson for all the new DJ's out there. It's not about the size! It's how you use it ;)

just like you, could get the XZ but picked the RX3. never disappointed though.
Mine isn’t gonna be here til November 17th unfortunately, Cant wait!
Great bud. Thanks. You still happy with it?
Just got mine, upgraded from RX 1
Have you seen the Denon prime 2?
Sad thing is: Spending 2k and talking about compromise. Thanks Pioneer.
Good reasoning :) How are you getting on with it?
This dilemma had me consumed in a lotta ways !! But I finally took the step to book the RX3 ! CANT WAIT !! 🔥
Ha ha yes, crazy modern day problems. Well done mate, I'm sure you've made the right decision!

you wouldn’t have been able to access all four channels on the XDJ XZ anyway. Only with additional hardware or with the DDJ 1000
They are accessible by using the shift button with no external hardware Mate
Got the XZ first then sold it to get RX3 , XZ is good for clubs and events thr RX3 is good for indoor use
Yep I find it's good to get just a basic understanding and feel for Pioneer's layout. To be honest I use a DDJ400 for all my gigs currently.
@@jono540is that enough for clubs? What gigs have you used it with?
They are both just fine for all occasions
denon prime 4 :)
Doesn't unbox it and reveal it until @11:00 mins in.
new on the internet? have you ever noticed that you can skip forward from the progress bar?
