I work for a trucking company, Their head of safety dept happen to come in the break room when I was sitting there, while I was waiting on my truck to get repaired,
We had a conversation about how "in his words" " the best trucks money can buy" there is 9 peterbuilt trucks at 200,000 each, that are out of service, "under warranty" the dealer can't get the parts to fix them, and my company can't touch them due to the warranty,
All I could say was, apparently they are not the best trucks money can buy then, and warranty don't mean shit!!! Good job!!!

If you get in an accident with an EV you have to replace the battery because you don’t know if the battery gets damaged.
I have heard stories that it costs up to $60,000 to replace the battery. Then add the physical damage costs to repair.

Earlier this summer I built a walk-in generator shed. It has interior battery powered lighting. The generator's exhaust is vented to the exterior. I need to better stabilize it. This month Maine had one of the worst storms in over 50 years. We lost power for almost five full days. During the torrential downpour and 50 mph plus winds I was able to walk into a lighted dry sheltered space to start the generator. It would have been dangerous to work on the generator exposed to the storm. High winds were stripping the small branches off trees and tossing them everywhere. Thankfully I planned ahead intending it to be for winter. There were 35 gallons of reserve fuel that were used up in four days. I needed to buy an additional 30 gallons to cover into the fifth day. There is a family member that is on a life supporting 24/7 oxygen concentrator. Having the generator in the shed was a life saver. I will be adding another generator to the shed as a backup. If the one fails it becomes critical when there is another loss of power. Preparation in ALL categories is and will be a literal survival issue this coming year. For some it will be a challenge. For others it will be hell on earth. I encourage all to plan and prepare for everything.
We have our air conditioning on electric and heater in same unit on natural gas on our NC home. Our maintenance guy gave us a $15k-$20k estimate to set us up for generator type backup set up with our natural gas running. Essentially our house would switch over from electric to gas when the electric power goes out. I’ve been wondering if this is worth it and if it’s an emp wouldn’t that affect the natural gas as well.
I was also considering building a set up as you have. I dont really want a bank of batteries in my garage due to fire risk. If i put them in the back yard in a shed set up then that reduces the risk of fire to the house itself.
@@catpaladin1 Implement a detailed risk assessment. Safety first and always. Having a shed is a very good investment. During the torrential down pour I was able to enter a lighted and dry space to start the generator. Having it operate out of the weather was better for the generator itself. With the significant noise reduction, barely audible in the house, the peace of mind was amazing. It was worth every dime spent and every hour of labor to build it.

Walked into Home Depot this afternoon and had a painful conversation with a guy trying to sell me solar panels for my house. 🤣 I said, I appreciate that you’re trying to do your job, but I will never invest $0.01 in something that has a payback of the 5th of never and will not provide me with a milliwatt of power if the grid goes down!
Add a battery and you will have power during an outage. That is what I did here in S. CA

after Sandy I was sending a bunch of flooded Mercedes from Long Beach to Europe once those shitheaps got wet there was no way to put them into neutral everything electric had to take driveshafts out jyst to roll them onto truck so its not just evs (they suck as well though)

I do believe it about chicken because so many people are moving to carnivore, where it is mostly beef, butter and eggs. Chicken and pork can’t compare to the health benefits of beef, lamb, eggs and some seafood.
Regarding eggs. Thankfully I live on 3.5 acres. My next project this coming year is to add a chicken coop. With 5 laying hens I will be well supplied. Any extra will go the neighboring families. Early this summer there were power company tree trimming crews on our road. They were more than happy to dump several loads of wood chips on my acreage only a half mile away rather than driving 15 miles to dump them. I now have 2,000 square feet of 8" thick woodchips to use as a run for the chickens. It is critical to become as self-reliant as possible. Getting to 25% will be an achievement.
I wonder if you'd share some info? Where do you buy beef? at a regular food store, or from a rancher? A few+ years ago, I noticed bacon started tasting different and stopped buying it.
I buy organic / antibiotic free beef and bison, but the ground meat packs I just bought taste like cardboard is mixed in with the meat. I love beef and bison. The ground meat was fresh. I think something fishy (beefy?) is going on.

The California grid can't even keep up with air conditioners in the summer,I will never buy an electric car.Nobody works on them and no where to get parts.And don't have the time to wait a recharge,plus most if not all apartments have no where to charge your car.I still drive the truck I bought 40 years ago,looks like it did when it was new,and now people are giving me the thumbs up when I drive by.

How about the stories coming out from Canada that a New Ioniq 5 battery costs $61000 Canadian dollars. Two stories on YT of people slightly damaging the battery protective cover but the insurance company totaled the cars unless the people wanted to replace the battery.

The mansion taxes I have read are applicable to multi-family housing, as well as mansions. This increases rent. I've heard some renters promoting this tax to punish rich people, refusing to read the matter and see it hurts themselves.

I was at a Cabela's Sporting Goods store yesterday. The thing that popped out at me was the four wheel off road vehicles and the price tags on them. They were selling for around $18,000. The signs on the models for sale said it's only $275 a month, and another sign was promoting that you could be driving this vehicle for only $9.00 a day.
....or 31 cents per hour. !

Insurance won't cover extra meds. I saw an older man on limited income go in for an inhaler. Walgreens said too soon insurance won't pay. But, for $150 he could have one. He and I chatted about how disgusting everything medical has become. He decided the only thing he could do was treat it with brandy. ( liquor not stripper) Heartbreaking as much as it is hilarious.

I saw an article where a solar field was destroyed by a hail storm. Could do the same thing to panels on a home's roof.
My health insurance allows me to order a 90 day prescription supply; that's the max amount I can order.
Solar should only be a supplement or for an emergency.Relying on a large scale install by a utility is crazy.
home insurance is charging more here if you have solar panels. The labor cost is way more to repair a roof with solar panels on it.
My friend had solar panels on his roof cost some $35K and two years last year hail damaged them. Guess what? Insurance Co said they were not covered and raised their insurance because they were not informed about them being on the roof. They are considered a hazard than can cause further roof damage during a storm. LOL
A lot of commercial insurance companies won't insure warehouses that fill their roofs with solar panels. They only allow warehouse owners to put up enough to cover power needs for the facility itself, not the entire city block.

It's true - EVs are for the rich... at least for now. I'm delighted with my 16 yr old i30, been the most reliable car I ever owned and still cheap to run and own. The hackers find it easier and quicker than burglary. Been a wonderful year of reporting Dan, look forward to 2024 with Dan.
I had an I30 too and never had a problem with the engine , the body just rusted so badly here on the east coast, but the car had over 200,000 miles on it and just ran beautifully, best car I ever owned.
EVs are for public transportation. No taxis and buses. Self driving, electric, sterilized EVs.

Comcast/Xfinity got hacked. EV is a road to nowhere. Drove a Tesla Model 3 for 2 years and charging suckked balls. Tesla raised charging prices and it is the same as gas prices durning peek hours. Also, Tesla interior is poorly built and they break easily. Battery mileage deteriorates quickly.
Back in the early 70’s a person invented the 100 mpg carburetor oil company want to buy him out but he said no he ended up dead in the desert Tesla invented many things to help mankind but they keep it under the table
Apparently there’s 2 stroke carbs out that use less fuel but produce around the same power as the normal style. Wonder if they are similar in design

If Tyson is cutting down on their chicken business that is a great opportunity for a new farmer or business person to open up their own company and take away their business, which is obviously needed. Ford's shocking attempt at "Over The Update" highlights the importamce of mature sofware infractructure. I think VW has to physically have the car in the service centre in order to update the car's software. Tesla have always have Over The Updates from 2104 and it happens all the time for all thie vehicles. It's no big deal, just like seamless iOS & Android updates on your phone. It often improves the car's features and perfotmance etc (better management, power mapping etc) The ridiculous headline of "2M Teslas recalled" when in fact it was just an Over The Air Update shows how the main stream has its strings pulled by the havily unionised (AWU) and corrupt car companies & dealerships trying to protect their dying technology and servicing rip offs. Oh well there are EVs and there are Teslas. They are not the same thing, just like phones 😀I'm 40+ years as a software engineer so I feel I know a thing or two about this subject as Over The Updates have always found there way into areas of technology and now its just finding its way into cars and then robots next year 😀 And as for the vote couting machines in the last USA election, don't get me going on the software issues there. Stalin supposedly said "It’s not who votes that counts, It’s who counts the votes.”
