It's true Wonder Woman is on par with Superman and Shazam on physical strength, speed, regeneration, and durability but what really sets her apart is her training mastery and battle instincts. She has mastered nearly every unarmed martial art ever known and mastered practically every melee weapon and ranged weapon like the bow and arrow, throwing javelins, and so on. Her ability to use simple weapons in a wide variety or creative and strategic ways catches a lot of enemies off guard. And the magical weapons of the Amazonians that WW wields are potentially lethal to even the man of steel. Her lasso of Truth is also indestructible having been blessed by the Gods.
Superman and Shazam are mostly straight forward brawlers with the addition of extra powers while Wonder Woman is a master of the art of combat itself. Among the Heroes in combat skills she has no equal except in other master martial artists, most of whom do not have WW durability or strength. This is why Wonder Woman is among the top super heroes of all time and not just the women of comics but all of them. Being the first major woman hero of comics helps too!
When she beats other powerful opponents it is usually because of her ability to read their attacks and react accordingly to any move they throw at her. Also her ability to make full use of her surroundings, and use all her gear to the fullest. Wonder Woman can fight the likes of Superman and win while still wearing her bracelets, the same bracelets that hold back her power! Without the bracelets it's suggested she has no limits to her strength. She doesn't win every fight, no hero does but her skills as a warrior are legendary. So she has a clear advantage in fighting skills alone. Plus it's pretty epic that she is the new God of War after defeating Aries. She's a full fledged Warrior Goddess!
I know I'm super late but superman actually knows two kryptonian martial arts. But they're kryptonian, so are mostly power based. It's inaccurate to say superman doesn't have a fighting discipline.
Shazam is just a puncher.
@@raylevi5343 yeah, but Superman does have one main flaw which is Kryptonite so if anyone gets a hold of that hes done for, also shazam can't really beat wounder woman in a fight if she really wanted to kill him. With or without her bracelets
While I understand it, I don't actually like the Superman/Wonder Woman coupling. Giving Clark a human love interest helps to ground him more as a character. With him being practically indestructible, it's his human love interest that he ends up worrying about and fighting for. He has more to lose in that sense.
With Wonder Woman you don't have that. What would realistically happen in that case is both would push each other farther down a path of power since there's less risk of either dying. The fear of loss wouldn't affect them much. That's how it is in the Injustice comics and that's why I like their coupling in that storyline much better. It's WW who enables Superman to inflict his rage on the people and it's his loss of his human spouse and child that pushes him over the edge.
The same should be said for Wonder Woman. It's been played with before but Batman would be the ideal love interest for her. He shares her warrior's heart, never compromises his ideologies like her, and they both come from well respected families. What makes them perfect for each other though is in how they differ and with that you can create a lot of interesting stories for them. You see how well this plays out in the Justice League animated series.
Also I think Wonder Woman should be more powerful than Superman. She is a legit demi-god while Superman is merely an alien with enhanced abilities granted to him by the sun. I assume this is due to the hierarchy of Gods to aliens not being clarified enough.

Well said man, although I disagree about the powers thing but other than that I totally agree. Not to mention Lois lane was based off of the woman who Jerry Siegel eventually married. Discarding their romance never sat right with me cuz it feels like yet another kick to the creator's balls.

I get that Superman is supposed to be the most powerful Superhero but in a universe with powerful alien beings and Greek Gods, a hierarchy needs to be established.
Are the Gods relegated to Earth only? Where do their powers come from?
What makes Kryptonians so special that amidst our yellow sun they become the strongest living thing that surpasses even our own Gods?
How different is Kryptonian biology that allows them to photosynthesize the sun's energy to vastly enhance their own biology when on Krypton they were as weak as humans?
We humans have been soaking in our yellow sun's radiation since the beginning of our species. Why don't we have super powers? With such similar biological structure as the Kryptonians, what conditions must be met (such as the life cycle of a star) that grants us enhance abilities?
How can an alien species who only gains vastly enhanced biological abilities in the presence of a yellow sun be more powerful than Gods who can manipulate the minds of men, reality, and even life itself?
These are the kinds of questions raised when you don't establish a clear hierarchy between Gods and aliens. Also these question sound like good foundations for new stories.
I just think Superman's power level should be reduced a tad bit. It'll make him more relatable and he can still be the most powerful when he's driven by more human motivations. The same way that allows a woman to lift a car to save her baby.
When it comes to the portrayal of Superman's power though, Grant Morrison did a fantastic job with his All Star Superman run.

If you look up, superman gets rvrn more powerful then most gods after he spent a long time in the sun... Just like they did in marvel with the gods not really being "gods" I think they should do the same here in dc. I mean we have people like sentry who get there pôwer from the one true god and then you have zeus and such.

George Perez' run on Wonder Woman post-Crisis should have been at least mentioned here. He was the one who took the collection of dopey cliche's WW was in the silver/bronze age and transformed her for the first time into an actual compelling, dynamic,three-dimensional character. He's also the one who revamped her powers to be the near-equal of Superman's and delved for real into her mythological roots..
The modern WW owes a LOT more to Perez's interpretation of the character than to any other.

I have a head-canon that I like to think of Diana as "Earth's Favorite Daughter," and her powers are based on the Earth. Letting her lift just bellow the weight of the Earth, giving her speed to match the rotation of the Earth, and having her heal completely at every dawn.

I think that Batman needs a strong woman like Wonder Woman in his life because he can buy whatever he wants, and do whatever he wants with a regular girl, but if he gets with wounder woman then he will have a more challenging partern, who he will see as an equal. For the benefit for wonder woman she will be able to finally be able to live a normal life like Batman if she wants, but also have a man that she won't have to save all the damn time * cough * cough* (Steve). Batman can more then handel himself, and has and would be able to challenge her if it ever came down to a fight, because he has a contingency plan for basically any and everyone. Batman even has one for himself, this is why I believe they are a perfect fit.

Personally, I much prefer Wonder Woman with Batman (it makes for a much more interesting relationship than just basing it on power levels)...does this pairing occur in any of the comic books? I've only ever seen it in the Justice League cartoon series.

I love the Wonder Woman Superman relationship, a lot better than lois lane I mean Superman doesn't have to hold anything back in bed with Wonder Woman while with Lois he'd probably break her hips and maybe even kill her accidentally. It can definitely work as canon since in the Superman returns movie Lois has moved on so Superman could have had both relationships. Um, some to this is inaccurate. Wonder Woman is "not as strong as Superman"? That is a lot of fanboys opinions but that is not the canon prior to FLASHPOINT/52. The poster mentions Marston and quotes him but seemed to miss the details about the design of powers. She was designed to wed femininity with a DOMINANT FORCE. She was to have all the power of a Superman and retain the allure of a good and beautiful woman according to her creator. As for what her strength is relative to Superman, they are BOTH ranked A1 and were referenced as THE strongest heroes (which is why their coupling in 52 is problematic for Bats).

+Mike F Not sure of the circumstances of this fight, but you've got to remember that Wonder Woman is the paragon of a warrior caste, so what she may lack in strength against a kryptonian, she can make up for in skill and instinct.
Jordan Williams Well I know that in several of her origins she was supposed to go ahead of Superman but instead she was thrown off course and orbited around the sun for 20 years. That supposedly supercharged her powers making her stronger than Superman. I guess it depends on the version.

While some people gripe about the New 52 messing with Wonder Woman's origin, I have to admit Azzarello and Chiang's run is the first time in a long time I actually gave a shit about a Wonder Woman comic. The writing was excellent and the story was worth a second read. Good luck Finches, you two have a tough act to follow.

Superman and Wonder Woman is actually a great pairing, despite the shit people give them. They have a lot in common, but also some interesting differences. She's almost as powerful as him, without taking off her bracelets, so she could actually withstand holding his hand, cuddling with him, and any other kind of physical interaction without having to worry about any of his muscles twitching and taking off her head, or splitting her in half. That also sends a more positive message, since they don't have to settle for someone that they'll simply outlive, or is weaker morally/physically than they are. They're equals, and strengthen each other, rather than them being sick puppies chasing after someone, or abused by a jealous partner. It's also worth noting that Wonder Woman had always wanted Superman, so it's great to see writers giving it a shot in the main continuity, rather than chucking it into an Elseworld story to appease Clombies (radical Clark and Lois fans).

I seriously dislike the Superman and Wonderwoman relationship! Its just sooo predictable!!! I would of really enjoyed a Batman and Wonder Woman relationship way better!
I think in the Justice League and the Justice league Unlimited Cartoons her and Batman do have somewhat of a relationship, I mean their not running around holding hands but they do kiss a few times.
