Met Mark back around 1990 in Knoxville, Tennessee, when he taught at the University of Tennessee and I worked at the local pro photo store. Glad he's doing well and having his photos published.
I love the idea of how the 80s (even the 90s) were "a different relationship with time" like Mark said here. That's so, so true and the one thing I miss the most about pre-information age. It's also a big reason I picked up film 5 years ago in the first place. I yearned to put my phone away (or digital camera), be more present, and improve my relationship with time. What a great convo. Thanks guys!
Just getting into Mark Steinmetz's work. Have just bought his Berlin book. I really enjoy his work and it really speaks to me personally. Thanks for the great video chaps.
@@frame-lines Oh probably, they were both still working when I retired them circa 2004. Batteries were becoming hard to source at that time but I guess they are available again now 🤷
Let's talk about the Elephant in room for a second. Josh would you like to elaborate a bit about your choice of sweater Love your channel and all the things you guys do
Such an expensive hobby. Gets even more expensive if you don't hear about a book in time and you have to buy it on the secondary market... Not sure where you are in Europe, but plenty of local bookstores have France 1987 in stock. At least you can save a bit on shipping =)
That would be nice, but here in Germany, I only find a good collection of photo books in the big cities. Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich etc. But that’s why I’m very thankful that Framelines is also digitally available 😃😃
@@andreasstein421Kominek Books in Berlin delivers for €6,50 and, if you don't mind supporting it, Amazon has it as well! Still expensive, of course, but now closer to 80 instead of 100 =)
Really a great conversation
Much appreciated thank you Wesley ✨❤️

Love that - thank you very much James!
Really enjoyed this, especially Mark's thoughts on avoiding nostalgia and photographing the ordinary. Thank you both!
Thank you Stephen
Excellent video, Josh! Mark's a very interesting guy. Loved his answer to my question too, so thanks for asking! 👏🏼
Brilliant thanks for getting involved Alex - it’s much appreciated. ❤️
Great flex having the Strat in the background 😊
Trying to draw attention away from my
haggard face
Ah 1987!
The year I got married.
I still have my Olympus OM4 and OM1n from that time period although they’re now just Objets d’Art!
Haha excellent - they probably still work fine though I bet ?

74€ + 24€ shipping... man... collecting or even just shopping photobooks have become a really expensive hobby :(
Yep that’s a lot 😅
