I'm always fascinated by interviews with talented photographers. Niall has an incredible body of work and comes across as a genuinely down-to-earth guy. This was an inspiring episode; I shall pick up my camera straight away and go out to shoot. Thank you.

I doubt he’ll remember it but Niall saw me mucking about with a camera on the Underground once about five years ago, for some reason he decided to strike up a conversation and twenty minutes later left me feeling ten feet tall. I’ll never forget that. Thanks Niall.

From reading the comments, it's clear that you've been able to capture something special in this video. Niall's general positivity and generosity shine through, partly because this was so beautifully edited. When it's this well done people don't always realize that someone made the choice of WHERE to cut away to show one of his masterful photos, and when to let us enjoy him speaking. Too many photos and it becomes distracting...too few, and we get frustrated. Thanks so much from Brooklyn to introduce those of us who didn't know his work to such a great artist and (seemingly) lovely man.

@@frame-lines Oh my goodness. How nice! Well, turnabout is fair play. I was out of photography for a few years when I came across your video about the GX85 as a budget street camera. Got one based on your enthusiasm and love it still. Also got a Canon 6D. I'm not usually this suggestible (no Fujis for me!) - but your attitude and general goodwill are infectious!
One more note on the video: I think Niall kind of glossed over a point that's SO important for all of us to remember when he said he's had whole days where nothing good came out of it. I hope I wasn't the only one who needed to hear that (yet again)!

Outstanding Interview complimented by stunning photography throughout. In my life I've done one book I was chuffed to bits with it thought I'd make my fortune, in reality it was a hard sell, barely broke even but a great experience. These days I'm in a rush to shoot everything I possibly can, the older I get the less time I have so I shoot everyday for newspapers and my own work. Really enjoyed this episode cheers team.

When I was going to university at Reading in the early 70s, I bought my first camera, an Exakta with two lenses, a 50 and a 35-70. I always felt the light was very special there and looking at your photos, Josh, and Niall's and those of Martin Parr and other British photographers, I suspect the light contributes to a special warm and pastel look.

Great video Josh! My first time seeing Niall. The idea of playing to your strengths is an interesting one...I've always enjoyed observing the scene as a whole in my street work without being seen by the subject, for kind of a fly on the wall effect being a shyer person. I moved to new york a few months ago, and I'm finding myself struggling with whether I want to be a more run and gun style shooter being up close like a lot of the work here, or sticking to my roots with a long lens. Constant battle of finding our style which makes it fun. Lot's of great tips in here to think about!
