    Great place to fish. Love it. I generally fish Brickyard. You can either spend all day there hauling carp in ( most I've had is 64 between 2-8lb) or blank and not have a bite. There have been some MASSIVE weights taken over the years in matches, and some of Britains greatest anglers have participated in those matches. Give yourself a treat. And get there.

      I really enjoyed my only visit to Brickyard earlier in the year. We caught a bit of everything including a nice tench.

    They had a fish kill about two years ago - i used to travel sometimes for the Wednesday open on Grendon. Its not like it was before the fish kill, still some bream in there though.

      A lot of places lose skimmers but it always surprises me how many are caught a year or two later, so the venues always seem to recover fast.

    I’m so bad with expander prep, tried all different ways shown (I think) but they still seem to crack a lot. Fool proof method advice is welcome. Lovely session btw 👍

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  20 дней назад

      You need a good batch to begin with and cold water. Fridge the pellets immediately after prepping. If your pellets fall apart do them with minimum amount of water and also try doing them in a bag with all the air removed. Sugary gelatinous liquids also help. I sometimes do some jelly pellets with a small amount of gelatine to make some that are more durable. Unpumped pellets are less likely to fall apart if you use ones that you need to soak. I use the Des Shipp Pro Expanders a lot and they need no pumping, just do the night before, use minimum water and some Washed Out Bait Booster and fridge immediately.

    I'm only 5 miles from Castle Ashby but seldom (ie never) fish there. Tend to fish Canons Ashby near Boddington rather than Castle - as it's on the Wellingboro club card.. Have you fished there Jon?

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  20 дней назад +1

      I used to fish it twice a year with my old club and they were 8 hour matches! We used to fish the first lake the most and I loved the early pegs with all the lilies... and crucians! Sadly not so many crucians there now I gather.

    • @SteeeveO
      @SteeeveO 20 дней назад

      @@JonArthur I did read that they have started to restock the crucians & tench. Haven't fished it this year though as I've been mainly on the local canal. I believe they are also addressing the silt build-up as well, so hope it will be on its way to improvement in the next year or 2.

    John , how do you stop your rod rest arm from vibrating ...any tips. It.s attached to my seat. Drives me mental. Great vids

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  20 дней назад

      Sounds like your arm is not very secure or maybe too long? Or its your rod rest an thread thats not on tight enough?

    • @markandrew1067
      @markandrew1067 20 дней назад +1

      Mm ...I think it.s because I.m a bit on the portly side and I.m usually sat on a muddy flat( ISH) spot on our club lake. ( No platform). I think I.m just going to have to use bank sticks by my Inception chair setup.
      Tried shortening the Tele rest,no good. Put a heavier rod rest bit on - no good. Supported arm with another rest whilst simultaneously weighting arm down with elastic ,small weight. Totally ott I know ,hence my 2 isolated rod rest solution. Thanks John. Superb channel - great detail. Thnx

      There are tripod rests available that might be an option? I think Korum do one that might attach to a leg with two front legs for support. There are also feeder arms with a double attachment on the leg, so it fixes via two clamps not one.

    • @markandrew1067
      @markandrew1067 20 дней назад

      I think the chair tilts up and down in the mud as I move around - anything attached to the seat leg via one or 2 points just moves with chair. I won't pester you anymore! Gonna just use my tele carping tripod rests ...will do the job. Thnx again John

    Worth £8 for the day ticket catching skimmers like that for a couple of hours.

    You don't show what you use for the ledger stop or how you adjust it

    • @JonArthur

      It says at 6:50. It’s just two rubber float stops that grip the line but can still be moved if you want them to. Try these: www.fishmatrix.co.uk/home/product/matrix-rubber-line-stops?c=feeder-accessories
