Playing as Mewtwo in this game feels like a constant uphill battle. Big props to Wadi for still playing him.
No kidding. His second stock in game 2 was basically perfect, too. Constantly dodged around Bowser’s options and didn’t overcommit.
I love both these players. Bowser may be great but he’s still a heavy. Despite that both Wadi and Leon’s stick to these characters and get results
@@alexwatson3064 And despite Bowser being a heavy, he’s still high tier. At least Leon doesn’t have to “give up” too much to main Bowser like Wadi does with Mewtwo.

Yah looks like they just grabbed mewtwo and did what they wanted with him. They even used shadow ball instead of psystrike... Like... Mew2 can learn ishadow ball but the signature attack is psystrike lol

I like mewtwo I never new people thought he wasn't good enough. In my opinion he is a good character.

@@omegawaffles7348 1st off, Mewtwo is a genderless legendary Pokemon, not a "he"; so goes to show how much you know about Mew2. 2ndly although Mew2 does have a bad disadvantage state, light and big bodied with the tail hurt box, and awkward for some double jump, Mew2's strengths match or surpass their weaknesses. Mewtwo has the best fair in the game that's not a disjoint bar none, the 2nd best command grab, running and air speed in the top 10 and to 5 in the game, nearly impossible to gimp or even 2 frame since teleport exists (which with proper reads completely negates their disadvantage state and puts the over aggressor in disadvantage state instead)
Frame data is insane, down tilt is frame 6, nair and fair frame 7, aerial side b kill confirms into fair anyone past 130%, ftilt is disjointed and the best pivot ftilt in the game cuz Mewtwo's traction (which goes to make some moves safe on shield not cuz mew2 then slides away out of attacking distance) GRAB is frame 6, combine that with the #1 stongest up kill throw in the game, and the 2nd strongest back kill throw in the game; but why bother with responding with back throw at the ledge to react to neutral get up when you can just give them 40% with your broken jab?
Back air in a vaccum is best bair in the game, i haven't even gotten started on how ridiculous Shadow Ball and Disable are. How many confirms you get off the small charges, how holding the fully charged SB covers ALL ledge options if used at the right distance per character, and becuz it wavers through the air as it moves, it has the chance to hit most characters in the game if they choose to keep holding on to ledge waiting for the sb throw. B Reverse sb is so tricky and turnaround SB canceling it with soft shield negates Mewtwo's weakness with turnarond dash animation; vice versa keeping turnaround sb charged is an insane pressure tool
Disable can kill any character in the game flat out beyond 70%. Even boozer cant di a semi charged down smash to live at those percentages. And at 50% and onward, leads to edgegaurd situations where mew2 just dominates character after if it does not kill them; You CANNOT whiff forward approaches against Mewtwo with out serious consequences. Did i mention Disable gives mew2 invincibility frames 9 to 17 while it is active? Dthrow can lead to tech chases with disable off of plats, so if you pick any stage beyond FD good luck.
Mew2 crazy strengths out weigh the bad weakenesses, not even an opinion. Im not even going to get into the 11 minute video which show cases combo kill confirm strings off of every move mew2 has that is not a smash atk, jab, or teleport.
Jab is great at catching spot dodges for heavy dmg btw; always good to have an anti spot dodge deterrent :)

great plays from wadi, seeing mewtwo in tournament makes me realize how much they need to buff down tilt, where is hitbox?? lmaoo. he for sure could’ve taken this set if he zoned him out a bit more but i have to give props to leon for knowing his character and coming out on top even though he was combo food practically the whole match. good games to both the players !
Down tilt can hit however most of its hitbox feels like a pool noodle, this part of the hitbox doesnt allow you to follow up with nair or fair
(You can run and then nair/fair but it wont be true)

Legit just needs his tail fixed to stop getting grabbed from dashback/ledge roll/jump and every other shenanigan it gets him in. Remove one of the tail hurtboxes or give it super armour so he still takes damage but doesn't get launched

Definitely don’t think he deserves a weight buff as he feels light as a character plus that’d remove his role as a glass cannon. The tail armor seems interesting tho...

@@thisaintitchief4654 no me told me it, but it’s pretty obvious considering he trades life force for power. He has really good aerials, strong neutral, chargeable projectile, a command grab that kill confirms, really fast speed, and a great throw game. Why’s he not top tier despite all this? His hurtbox is massive and he’s like the 5th lightest character in the game. He’s in the same archetype as Fox, but Fox trades some of that versatility for a smaller hurtbox.
WaDi played well, but he has some flaws in his playstyle.
For example he didn't go for the optimal punishes/combos. Like he always forward throws Bowser even though M2 can combo Bowser at low percents for way more damage with down throw into up-tilt into you choose or even just down throw into f-air - and remember at low percents (like lower than 50%) Bowser can't DI these combos, because he's too big.
WaDi was also too predictable with his get-up options on the ledge. He chose the same option on the ledge like 5 times. Up air on ledge is a great option, but when expected it's fairly punishable by just shielding. He should have used side-b on the ledge to counter his counter.
There was more but I don't wanna be too nitpicky.
Or that he never really grabbed after a shadow ball. Leon was just shielding them for free, especially at the end

Something that bugged me was he never called out Leon for always jumping in and jumping from ledge. Big tail's there for a reason, jump in up air, fair, bair, whatever, just don't let Bowser land on your shield or jump over your grounded shadow balls for free!

I’m new to smash, but after seeing Tournies from over a year ago, I can tell this video delay (hearing the announcers prematurely) is going to get annoying
Leon's edgeguarding was so good by game 3, he had Wadi down pretty well. Definitely a few moments in that third game where Wadi could have combo'd better, like opting to f-throw instead of d-throw to keep combos alive and stack percent. So sick watching a good MewTwo tho.
No buff for mewtwo needed. Just need to make him NOT a light a super light character.

Or give his tail hurtbox armor so that he doesn’t take as much damage and get sent flying lol. His light weight is what makes him one of the fastest, which is an advantage, not a disadvantage if you know how to space yourself properly and avoid getting hit by running away

Nah, just give the tail armor. Mewtwo is a glass cannon and his light weight makes him one of the fastest. If he gets heavier he won’t be as fast

I know mewtwo is not the best character, but I don't understand the whining in the comments, is not like if he was playing against top characters and stuff like that, literally the winner of the tournament was a DK, if a DK can, mewtwo can too

Yeah Leon is good but Wadi should definitely be the one getting the most praise here, he played beautifully, and it's too bad that Mewtwo is so light which makes it super easy for Bowser to take his stocks, Wadi is out here representing the Mewtwo players in a great way

Everyone loves to blame the characters flaws for a loss and at times it's fine but at the end of the day mewtwo has a LOT of strengths and there is always something wadi could have done to best leon
You could say that with any character tho against any player.. people talk about mewtwo because he has one of the biggest hurtboxes in the game while also being the 3rd lightest.. anyone who plays perfect at all times will win but objectively mewtwo has more negatives than positives right now. If they fixed the tail hurtbox I think he might go up to high tier

Great games, but I feel Bowser's neutral B is too stupid. This move makes no sense at all, honestly. I whish they gave more ending lag to it.
It already has a LOT of ending lag. I play Bowser a lot and if you miss your flame breath in a bad position you will get punished hard for it

Bowser is freaking dead brain and mewtwo's too light. Wadi was outplaying him 95% of the time but couldn't get the stock and bowser just sneeze on him and explode him at 60% this is so dumb lol

Just remember a player has the right to do whatever they want, so they'll just do what they think is optimum for them. It's about winning the set, not making sure your opponent doesn't have an annoying time fighting you.
