Congratulations on your new fur baby! She’s adorable. I have 3 bits of cat parent wisdom for you. First, I had a cat who didn’t learn how to purr until she was two. Don’t feel bad that Binx is not purring yet. The way she sleeps (all stretched out) shows that she is happy and feels safe. Secondly, when a kitten bites, the Momma cat bites it back. Since you are not going to bite Binx, you need to firmly tell her not to bite you or Jared. Then give her something that she is allowed to bite. And lastly, do not put bells on a cat. It’s cruel. I’m so glad that you removed the one from her collar. It appears that you have everything else under control and are doing GREAT! You and Jared are awesome pet parents!
I started scream “no bite” or “ow” and act really hurt and that seemed to work lol. My 2 year old cat still nibbles but it never hurts so I don’t mind the little baby bites ❤😊
Absolutely put bells on a cat! Domestic cats are one of the main reasons why the birdpopulation is plummeting. If your cat can be outside, put bells on them. At least have them on in spring and early summer, when there are little chicks. I have no idea why you think it is cruel, it does not harm them in any way.
I actually bite my new puppies back the way the momma would and they stop biting pretty quickly. I will even growl at my pups so they know I am not pleased with their behavior. If you don’t mind a little fur in your mouth give her a firm, not hurt her, but firm bite back and she’ll get it. Lol it’s like a light spanking.
@@moirasoma2863 The sound of the bell irritates their ears and they've very sensitive ears, so it does harm them. Plus most home cats don't like going outside, the cats that chase birds are mostly stray cats.
@@Rana-Ehab-Mohamed saying mainly stray cats chase birds is ridiculous many ppl have indoor outdoor cats and sadly they are killing the wild birds at an alarming rate. If a person (which is VERY common) is going to have an indoor outdoor cat it’s a great idea to have a bell on them for the well being of the birds. It’s actually vet recommended in the spring and summer.
Kittens have 3x the energy of adult cats, and are still learning boundaries! Redirect any biting to a toy. Never ever play with just your hands - ever. Keep toys near you always for this purpose. If she's extra aggressive, get up and have a large play session. It's disruptive but you gotta help her get that energy out in a productive/safe way ☺️🖤 . She's like a toddler with tiny knives, you just gotta wear her out 😂
Still watching and I see you have a toy which she is ignoring. You need to be more aggressive with said toy ☺️ assert some dominance, use the toy to wrestle with her and get a bigger one if the mouse isn't interesting. You can't "talk" or logic her out of this behavior. It has to be physically and strictly redirected.
I agree with all this so much. My cat (also Binx!) was so bitey at this age. Kittens are hard work. When he was about 3 months I questioned whether I was the right fit for him. I was struggling to cope. He was eating everything in his path, all my belongings were on the top of my bookshelf, and I was covered in scratches and bites. He grew out of it though. We would make a loud OW noise when he bit us and he eventually stopped doing it. He’s now a chonky 11 year old and we adore him.
Binx is such a cutieeeee!! When my kitty was a kitten he was also a big biter and chewer. I got him a teething worm to chew on and never let him chew on my clothes, wires, or my fingers. I would also squeal and stop playing with him whenever he got over excited and bit me. Binx seems to be playing with you like she'd play with her siblings. She doesn't understand that your skin is more sensitive. She's just trying to show how much she likes you as a playmate. She will eventually learn what is acceptable as long as you keep the rules consistent, cats are so smart.
This video brought me so much joy and actual tears of happiness. Binx is truly the absolute most precious thing. Seeing the love you have for Binx and the joy made me so happy. Binx is a lucky one to have found you. Sending all my best ❤
😊 awwww, I have had cats my whole life and I have to say that black cats are always my favorite! I have had 3 black cats that have never been naughty or unkind. You made a wonderful choice!
Oh. My. Godness. I adopted my black kitty girl 4 months ago. I just found your channel through this video and I believe it's a gift from the Gods. I started my cat adventure by adopting an abandoned, sick, almost dying little baby of 6 years. He was in terrible shape when I got him, yet through years of love, proper care and patience he turned into the most beautiful, rare and amazing shy little baby. We believed he was abandoned and mistreated by his previous family, because of how scared and feral he was at the beginning. We even thought he was mixed norwegian because of how beautiful he turned out to be ! Long fur, full of colors, one eye orange one eye yellow. However, I had to say goodbye to this adorable love of my life after 5,5 years because of how sick he was. Even afer giving him all my love, even after we became best friends, after we grew up together and found love, comfort, security and peace in each other, I had to help him cross the rainbow Bridge. I planned on ending my life days after. If not for my actual lover and partner of life, I wouldn't have make it. I adopted my little shadow 4 months ago. I really wanted a little girl, I wanted a black kitty, I wanted to get her small because I wanted to give the perfect life to a baby from the beginning. Yet, adopting a tiny kitten after such an adventure with my previous cat is sometimes extremely heavy and difficult. Their personnalities are so different, they have NOTHING in common anyhow and I find myself regretting to have adopted such an extremely different type of cat. I loved the long hair, I loved the big body, I loved the big paws, the fluffy tails, I loved the colors, and apart from the personality, to not be able to find tiny parts of my previous cat in my kitten sometimes completely breaks me. NOW, I find your video. And I see this little cutie that looks so much like my little shadow. And I see your joy, I see your excitement, I see the face of your little darkness and she reminds me of my little Kin, just 3 or 4 months earlier. And I realize that I will be able to watch my tiny baby grow up as well as your tiny baby. Kin keeps chewing EVERYTHING. She doesn't pur much, just when in our arms when she just wakes up...PLUS I also see that you have a dog, and I somehow, really wanted to adopt a dog rather than a cat after losing my dear Amber. Seeing your two black loves, I'm like...hey, why not getting a dog as well some time later ? I could have both, just like this lady here ! So...thanks for the Universe to make me discover your channel, esp. through this video. This is a reminder that my baby is still so small, and we have to get to know eachother, I have to be her "other" mother now and this baby is PURE innocence and love. I will overcome this difficult transition part, and...Seeing your joy, seeing the tiny little black paws of your baby, makes me grateful that I have the same slightly bigger black paws at home. I can't wait to get news from your little shadow !
We actually do have one for her! I think she’s a bit scared of it for now though. But she is enjoying drinking water off of a plate now :) I think she’ll try using the fountain once she gets a bit bigger!
@@DarlingDesi Oh I just couldnt figure out why my kitten wasnt drinking much water till someone told me this so I thought Id mention it. Much love to you and your new kitty ❤
It's totally normal for kittens to bite all the time. Mine certainly do! As she gets older she'll learn that it hurts you and to either stop or not do it as hard. Same with purring. They learn to do it as they get older
But if you pet them or give them treats when they bite, they'd "learn" that biting is good. Because you keep rewarding them whenever they do it. That is bad for obvious reasons.
I would seriously consider getting a second kitten to play with and teach her that biting hurts! This is advice I received years ago from my vet and I didn’t believe it. But the cat I had at the time never outgrew the bad habit. Now I have two cats and it’s the best decisions I’ve ever made. Good luck!! She’s adorable!
Hi, Desi! Vet tech here. Binx is the cutest thing ever! May I give you some advise? Do not let her play rough (scratching and biting) with your hands or foot or she will do the same non stop when she's bigger and stronger, because she won't realise she's really hurting you. You can't stop 100% a cat from doing something because, you know, cats are one of a kind, but you can redirect her energy from your hand to her favourite toy and move and shake the toy. Cats are predators and need hunting so if she sees your hands are moving instead of the toy she will go to hands, so make sure the toy keeps her interested. Second advise and the most important: NEUTER her when she's like 6-8 months old, you can avoid sooooooo many problems like tumours, infections, behaviour issues, etc. And the third, feed her quality food and let her food bowl full at all times! Kittens need as much proteine and fat as possible when they are growing up so let her eat whenever she wants and needs. I'm so so happy for you, little Binx is gonna bring you a lot of happiness and I know for sure you're going to make her life as happy as possible. D'artagnan will be thrilled to have a nap and play mate. Thanks for your videos and making us feeling more cozy and peaceful! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I audibly gasped when I saw the thumbnail of this video and almost immediately started tearing up. We lost our elderly black cat, Sophie, last year. She was my best friend in the whole world. Cherish every second with your new little friend. 🧡 She is absolutely precious.
Same here - I lost my black cat Coco in March to cancer. Their love is truly the greatest gift. I’ve always found black cats to be the luckiest companions of all, so Desi, I hope you and Binx have a long, happy, lucky life together! 🖤
Binx is such a sweetheart!! ♡ If you ever get a second kitty, please consider adoption from shelters :) there are so many unwanted kitties looking for homes!
Honestly, if I could go back in time, I would've gotten 2 cats at once. They needed somewhere to put that energy, and I found our cat didn't chill out and stop terrorising us till we got a second cat.
From watching your videos. I would advise not constantly putting your fingers near her. It’s teaching her to bite and she wants to play fight with you which means she loves you. Also you both will learn boundaries with each other. Cats need their alone time and she will learn in time to not to bite so much. I do think giving her a toy to chew instead is a great alternative than your hand. Hopes this helps ❤ you’re kitten is so cute and I love this cozy space that you created.
Oh, she is so cute! My own little black cat just passed away recently from cancer after having her for 9 wonderful years, I've been absolutely heartbroken, but have just adopted a black rescue kitten who needs a new loving home too
I love binx! She will grow out of biting as long as you keep redirecting with toys. It'll take a year or so but stay strong. I had a kitten that loved to bite. 😂🧡
Also one quick tip is that you shouldn’t let her walk on the floor outside until she has been properly vaccinated, love your channel and you are such an amazing kitty mom!
Kittens love to bite. A good discouragement for biting is to bop her on the nose. Not too hard, just enough to tell her off. Otherwise, she’ll get big and still be doing it, and then, you’ll really be in a losing battle.😅 Also-I’m sorry, I have to say it-please always make sure you spot her after loading the dishwasher.
@@please.excuse.my.nonsense and washer and dryer. our cat somehow got in the dryer and we almost didn't realize (she wasn't in there for more than two minutes and is still very much alive and healthy, but that was extremely worrying)
She's so fluffy! I got my black cat in 2019. He's name is Salem. Be prepared for scratches and scabs for at least a year. They play with each to learn how to hunt. Just be patient and work with her to know what you will and will not tolerate. She will chill out. You should read the "The cat who...." series. Qwelleren solves mysteries with his two Siemeise
Watching this on November 5th. I cant stop myself from almost crying at how adorable Binx is. Shes so pretty. I miss having a cat so much. It truly seems like she was meant for you. I mean, come on. She loves to be in the bookshelves? I love your little morning routine with her.
She's so cute... biting, and kicking is a big part of their play. And the reason she prefers you over the toy is because you are warm and can play back. I used a wool sock over my hand so that I could play wrestle with my kittens, getting their belly and letting them bite and kick to their hearts content. Once her energy is expelled, their more cozy, cuddly nature comes out.
Congratulations on your new fur baby Desi! Im so happy for you and all the new exciting adventures Binx will bring. (P.s. i love your channel and always look forward to new videos) 🥰💕 I must say however that I work with cats for a living and Binx is far too young to have been seperated from momma! This isnt your fault of course and as a new cat mum im sure you didnt realise, but this may impact some of her behaviours she would normally learn from momma as part of her development as well as friendly play with her litter mates. I would also recommend that for the biting, if she does bite, IMMEDIATELY put a toy in her mouth or remove your hand. Try not to taunt her with fingers/linger when stroking her face - she will learn that biting is acceptable. I also stress that you PLEASE wait until she is a bit older until you take her for walks outside, or at least wait until she has had her first vaccinations to stop her from picking up any nasty bugs and getting poorly. She is still SO young and her immune system would not be able to fight off any serious infections. I hope you know I only say all of this out of love and in the hope it helps! Please keep making amazing content! Your videos never fail to bring a smile to my face 🥰💕
You made such a great point! I think a lot of people don't know, sadly :/ When we had kittens, they were independent from mom cat only after around 10-12 weeks old. This little one in the video looked no more than 4-5.
I read a thing about how kittens are companion pets - they will bite other kittens in play as they develop their hunting skills and it’s normal, but single kittens have no other cats/kittens to practice with so that’s why she’s doing it to you. It’ll fade over time!
What adorable fur babies! Kittens like most baby mammals use their mouths to try and understand their environment so it's perfectly natural and not a sign of aggression. In addition she will be teething so something hard and soothing to chew on may help her. We always take one of our cats (Moonbeam) for walks on a leash up our mountain. Get her used to being in new environments and strangers early on as black cats are known for being anxious of new situations if not acclimatised early on in their lives. Blessings from our tiny cottage in Wales x
On the contrary, black cats are known for being curious and natural explorers! But it’s true that you should always introduce kittens to many new situations as they tolerate
Desi…I didn’t think I could love your channel more than I already do…but I was wrong….After hearing the sweet, glorious sounds of Gregory Alan Isakov’s “Amsterdam” I literally almost fainted. His music is my life! Beautiful cover. Beautiful video as always. Thank you for providing so much comfort and magic. 🧡 xo Amber
Some advice from someone with a cat decidedly not used to both, make sure your kitten gets used to driving in the car and gets used to sitting on your lap! It'll make travel with your cat so much easier if she isn't afraid of cars and it'll be nice to have a pet to cuddle with
Not to be negative here because I definitely understand wanting your kitty close during a trip. But in the case of an accident this would be rather dangerous. No one really ever wants to think about this, but safety when in a car is something to be mindful of.
They need a to be in a cat carrier. I was a vet tech and saw many instances of fatality when cats/kittens jumped out of their owners arms and were either killed by traffic or lost forever.
Agreed! We did this on short drives - never leave kitteh in the car. Just a drive around and back home so she gets used to it. Not for going to the store - just literally a like 5 minute drive. Windows always rolled up. Drive slowly. What everyone is talking about safety wise is for those that take their car on long distances and busy areas or to the store. No no no. Just literally a short drive in your neighborhood. 🤍
What an adorable void! Looks like she'll be floofy when she's older! I believe you'll make great pet parents, and she'll be a very cozy kitty living the best life. She's very young, too bad the breeder didn't wait a little longer, so keep her close. If you get a collar, make sure it's a break away one. There, that's me adding my two cents. Kitten Lady is a good resource for information, and your vet. Enjoy the bond you'll build with her!
Adorable new kitten, my cats all grew out of the biting phase, she’s just a playful little baby, and when she slowly closes her eyes while looking at you is her way of saying I love you. 😊
What a sweet baby! Just so you know, when kittens are separated from their siblings too early they often don't learn boundaries and so they end up biting and scratching harder than they should. What helped me with kittens in the past is yelling loudly OUCH and then taking your hand away slowly. Binx's siblings would have verbalized if she bit too hard and hurt them so this can help. Also she is probably teething and likes to chew! So she's going to go for whatever feels good to chew aka fingers. It will get better as she gets older!
Edit: I've omitted my comment in regards to concern about little Binx's age. Desi has responded to this in the comments section, and while it's great we're all concerned for Binx, let us remember that Desi has and always will put her loved ones first. With that said, please remember to be kind, when sharing your opinions. I'm sure all of our concerns, Desi has given much consideration to beforehand, they're just not addressed in this video. We can never know all the details. ♥️ I was so happy when I saw you were welcoming a new family member!! Congratulations on your new furbaby.🥰 Freeze dried treats are wonderful! She's perhaps still too small for the crunchy ones. She may even still be losing her baby teeth at this age, in case you find tiny teeth lying around. 🦷 The brands of cat food you bought are so good ingredient wise. It's really hard to find a well rounded pet food, and being you're a first time cat owner, I'm super impressed by the brands you chose. I personal don't believe collars are safe for cats. You might already be aware of this yourself, but too many cats get their jaws stuck trying to bite the collar off. If that happened while she was unsupervised, I would be terrified of her hurting herself or choking. 😥Harnesses are wonderful for training your cat to go on walks and hikes. You could start taking her on walks as soon as 11-12 weeks, if she's not very skittish. If you have a Mudbay in your area, they have some wonderful cat harnesses there even for small growing kittens. The brand is called RC pets. With that said, they also have all the brands of food and treats you've been purchasing, too. They also have cat toys at Mudbay made of natural materials and not as much of a choking hazard as some of PetSmart cat toys. Rabbit fur toys, wool toys, catnip pillows, and they have handcrafted cat toys too. They're really cute and I'm a big fan of natural materials. My heart broke when I saw the KMR. It's too bad the breeder was impatient about rehoming her. 😔 You have so much to look forward to with Binx. Cats are so smart and loving! There will be time for treat puzzles, and hiking in first snow, going on bike rides, etc. I'm looking forward to all the moments you will share with us. Kittens grow up way too fast, but being surrounded by so much love, she will make the most wonderful cat. 🧡🧡💛💛
I was kind of thinking the same thing about her age. In Denmark it is illigal to remove a kitten from it's mother before it turns 12 weeks old. But I do hope that Desi will get the most joyful times out of her new family member :)
I agree. She does seem young. However, I found a 4 wk old kitten back in September. (Fell out of the undercarriage of a passing car - I checked my security footage to see if I could find where mom went). She’s doing quite well. I never did give her milk replacement. My vet and I were in constant contact and I’ve been working with her mimicking what mom would do for her. Granted, I have two other cats. One 10yo and one 2yo. So I’m sure she’s learning more from them than me. 😂 she is also extremely bitey. But I squeak whenever she bites me and it has gotten exponentially better in the past week or so. She’s also a very loud purr machine - and she loves to give little kitten licks. My hands, face, arms, nowhere is safe. 🖤
YES to collars. Collars are way safer than going missing, then never found. Or found dead/maimed. Every day, we see notices about missing cats w/o collars. Owners almost never see them again. You can make collars that are safer or more comfortable. And if you think collars aren’t comfortable, harnesses certainly aren’t. Neither is walking them like a dog-they aren’t dogs.
@@rlfolder5437 Microchipping is also a way for identifying lost pets. Often times the collar ID has outdated information if a person moves, or changes their phone number. The worst case scenario I see, is an uncollared pet being taken in and not scanned for a microchip. That's probably a more common outcome for a cute cat on the streets. If there's serious need for a collar then you should be informed of the hazards of one to your cat, such as: They could get their paw stuck in their collar, or their jaw. Such accidents have serious potential to cause injury, including strangulation, deep skin lacerations, and jaw damage. Not to forget if their collar got caught on something and they get stuck wherever they are. Yes there's breakaway collars, but then your point is null and void. Most pets that are hit by cars, you would report to your local animal control and they will usually scan the body upon pickup for a microchip to inform families. At least that's how it is in Oregon and Washington. A collar is a serious tool that lets others know the animal has an owner, and unless you're tracking them with a gps, that's all it is. I'll continue to encourage those with an indoor only cat that a collar is not necessary to them. It's unfair to expect them to adjust and wear something like that full time for our peace of mind. It's not enriching their life at all. If there is a need, such as an indoor/outdoor cat, then sure. But my cat's comfort and wellbeing is more important than the peace of mind a collar might offer me for something like door dashing. They're microchipped. If a person is honest, they would take them to a vet or shelter to be checked and identified. I've trained eight cats and kittens to walk on a harness. I would say my experience disagrees with that statement. Each cat has a different opinion towards a harness, sure, and as someone who advocates enriching your cats life, it's important to honor whatever is most comfortable to your cat. With that said, the majority of my cats request to go out on a harness despite the fact we have a cat enclosure for them to freely roam. They occasionally enjoy a change in scenery that a walk offers them. It's more the sense of feeling "trapped" by a harness and leash in a stressful or scary situation, that bothers them. Like unleashed dogs, and strangers approaching. To offer the best experience for your cat while walking on a harness, it's better to go to a less populated area unless you specifically have an outgoing cat that handles new/loud/busy environments. Many people are successful in training their cats to walk with them without a lead. In the end, a cat is a cat. They will do what they want. They are not property. We're only here to provide them companionship and a safe home, in whatever shape or form that is for you. If you choose a collar for your cat, be well informed.
Binx is so cute, she's absolutely adorable!! Be mindful that kittens and cats do a lot of scratching on things. If you don't want your books scratched up place them up high or get bookshelves with glass doors. :) speaking from experience here.
Binx is so cute! It was so sweet to watch everything you did to prepare for her, and how much you love her. I have been a cat person forever, and can say that it is amazing how different they all are. My current kitty I adopted as a1-year-old tuxedo cat in 2020 in the middle of Covid. I have never had a cat that was a biter, but she is and will always be. She also is not a cuddler, which is was really sad about at first. But again... all cats are different. It seems that for some cats it is like an automatic reflex that is part of their nature. I love that you are getting her outside and in the harass now. I would love to walk and take my girl outside, but I am sure it will take longer to get used to since she is older. Have fun! Will be fun to watch her progress as she grows!
Binx is so precious! The past few years I’ve lived with friends who have cats but now I’m living with my girlfriend and it’s weird not having a cat around. We hope to get a cat once we have a bigger place! This video was so heartwarming 🧡🐱
Congratulations on Binx!! I got a kitten this spring my 1st in almost 2 decades being more of a dog person. One lesson I learned from my dog is to yowl or say owie loud & my kitten will stop the behavior usually biting my hand. She's still in the crazy toddler stage and kitty proofing all that can harm her while putting things away I don't want broken. Museum wax works well with securing something that's at risk of being knocked down or broken which I got from Jackson Galaxy. Edit...yes having a cat room or what I can her cat condo to make her own still works well.. Best wishes to you 💕.
Your home looks cozy and warm for the winter season. You and Binx look wholesome together. I wish the best for all of you. Continue to inspire others while you can.
She’s just teething, biting helps soothe her gums, it will pass eventually. I recommend getting her some silver vine sticks! They’re awesome for her to chew on! Soft but chewy and safe for kitties and natural!
@@marge3157 Oh that is a good one for sure. Love it! I have a 20 wk Bernese Mountain Dog Puppy his name is Caspian. Full AKC is Prince Caspian of Cair Paravel. ✨️
Most cats don't like to be petted or touched constantly. A quick rub on the top of their head, or under their chin then stop. Cats get overstimulated very quickly and this can have them biting or scratching out of reflex. Also, if the cat is curled up by itself somewhere or anywhere really; don't go up and start rubbing or touching the cat. Cats will come to you when they want affection. Lastly, don't put your hand or fingers in her face, ever. That's an invitation that they are toys to be bitten and played with. If she is laying on you and just randomly starts biting you, push her away firmly and with a sharp tone say "NO" Then no contact or say anything to her. If she continues, repeat louder "NO'. If it continues say "NO" again and put her outside the room for a bit to realize what happens when she bites. Repeat as needed.
I have an orange cat. And they say orange and black have similar personalities lol they’re INSANE. when my Jack was that small he was a biter I was told by the vet it’s because it feels good on their baby teeth. Jack is two now and does still bite randomly 😂 he’ll go into an attack mode for absolutely no reason and apparently it’s just him playing . Cats are like aliens lol
Both of my cats loved nibbling on me when they were little too! They grow out of it! And actually they learn to be much more gentle! Now they give us little gentle love bites! She really sees you as her family if she’s playing with you like that! Just be really patient and calm with it! I always would grab my kitties paws if they scratch too hard and kiss their paws and say “nice paws gentle paws” and kiss the paws. They literally listen and play more gently!
My black kitty is named Jinx! He’s almost 16 now, and the best thing I ever did was rub his paws a lot when he was very young. It made it so much easier to trim his nails, and he literally will lick my hand when I’m trimming his nails. I seem to remember him biting a lot when he was a kitten, as well. He (mostly) grew out of it. He still bites me now, but it’s a play bite that doesn’t hurt at all. I also recommend looking up Jackson Galaxy if you haven’t already. He’s a wonderful cat behaviorist that may have some good videos and advice online for a new cat owner. By far, my Jinxy loves the ring from milk jugs and the bigger ones from the peanut butter jars the best of all toys. Congratulations and welcome to Binx!
Owning a black cat is a very big achievement, they really will be your shadow. Both of my black cats were very active, cuddly, talkative, and will always follow you everywhere!
Such a sweet kitten. I got teary eyed when you picked her up. You just seemed so excited and the moment was so precious. She really does look like she belongs in a Ghibli film!
It is soon going to be a year since I joined your greatest circle of ✨Darling Desi ✨fans here. I waited to enjoy your “Autumnal” videos for the season ahead. Which means I rewatched your other content very often. I know if takes time to bring these videos into fruition, and enjoying them in their seasonal time makes them even more enjoyable. I look forward to your seasonal Winter content just the same. Now, this video was so heartwarming. It truly warmed my heart to see how gently Binx, was welcomed into your beautiful home. You are truly a treasure, Darling Desi. 🐾🐾❤️
Break her of the biting now or you'll regret it. Hold her paws when she's scratching bop her on her nose with your finger with a firm NO when she's biting. Research on this behavior and learn together. But probably everyone had told you this. What cuteness. Have a blessed week my sweet friend. 🥰 kisses for Binx. 💖🌟
My cat bit a lot - any skin that was showing. If it was too hard, I would say a firm no and place her away from me. They will get the idea, and will calm down when out of the kitten age. Keep in mind, though, big cats biting are usually love bites but I still remind her when I it's too rough. Don't forget they need a scratching post!
Thank you SO much! It’s reassuring to hear from other owners who have had biters. We’ve started doing exactly what you said! We say a firm no and leave walk away and take her toys with us. We noticed she will sit there looking sad and then run to us a few seconds later to try again. I think it’s because she’s such a young kitten and is still learning how to be nice. She was only 6 weeks old when we got her so I don’t think she got enough time to learn from her littermates and mom.
@@DarlingDesi Yes, it is a kitten thing. I had always had taken stray or rescue cats, so Merida was my first kitten. Abandoned by her mother (cats do that sometimes), she was in foster care until 8 weeks and I adopted her. I was surprised by the biting and scratching - needle sharp! But like I said it stops with age. They will still give you love bites later, so I have to remember that's how they show love and be patient. Their adult teeth hurt less. If you ever are puzzled by that little darling's behavior, check with your vet or google is a help sometimes. The vet's office reception staff will usually give you advice over the phone or will check with Dr. and get back to you.
Oh my heart!! She’s perfect. I wouldn’t worry too much about the biting. It’s just how she plays and all our pets have grown out of it. Thank you for sharing her here with us…and some extra love for that sweet, gentleman doggo of yours. So pure. 🐈⬛ ❤️🍂🎃
Don't worry too much about the bites :) all three of my cats are a similar breed and have done that as babies. They don't bite anymore unless you play really aggressively with them (and even then, they're playing and not biting to hurt). One of mine was such a nibbler as a baby but is the sweetest mush now. Enjoy little Binx :)
If you want some advice from someone who has raised more kittens than I can count (non of which bite now). Rule no. 1: Don't play with hands or feet, if they try remove hands and feet completely/put the kitten somewhere they can't reach you. Give a toy instead. No. 2: Discourage the climbing. It's cute when they're tiny but it hurts soooo bad once they weigh like 8 lbs. When cat's are about 6 months old they often start chewing EVERYTHING because they get their adult teeth. So don't freak out when you find a tooth lying around 😅 You are doing amazing ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Desi, I'm curious as to why Binx has left her mother before she's 8 weeks old? 12 weeks is the optimum time for separation. Rescues are often younger than 12 wks but I think you said you got Binx from a breeder? Do you know if she has she been wormed and treated for fleas by the breeder? Did the breeder give you a schedule to continue this? Re drinking water, any kittens and cats prefer to drink from water fountains as they like to drink running water rather from a bowl. Are you planning to clean her teeth with a good feline enzymatic toothpaste? Your vet can advise on the best one to use. Something to be aware of, the climbing up your leg for food might be cute now but when she weighs around 4kg it might not be! Lastly please don't ever have Binx declawed, however destructive she might become. I was horrified to learn that this barbaric practice is common in America. X 🐈⬛️ 🐾
I had a cat that never purred too. She was incredibly talkative, but would not purr. But then, one time when my sister was injured, she sat on my sister’s lap and purred, as if to comfort and heal her🥰 she was the best cat!
I also got a little kitten a year ago, he is yellow and super cute. His name is Oliver. 🧡🧡 I already had another one, black and white. Oliver (we call him Oli) he also wouldn't stop biting everything but with time Binx will stop Mine is 1 year old now and he stopped biting.... if we provoque him he will bite us again. They are cats / they do what they want. I love you And binxxx🧡🧡
My cat goes bonkers over those minnows too. Can’t wait to see her when she gets bigger! I thought my cat would never grow up but she turned into a giant chonk 😅
Kittens needs lots and lots of play time 😊 they’ll cuddle more the older they get. If she’s sitting in your lap and biting let her run around and explore instead. Your little family is so precious ❤️
She’s so sweet!! I’ve read that cats don’t like still water, they make water jug things that work by gravity so once the dish is at a certain level, more water will go into it and keep it aerated, she might like that!! Also good thinking on harness training her! We did that too late with our cats so they just flop over and don’t move once we put a harness on them, lol.
As a mother of 2 black cats I can personally tell you they are the best. The biting is a phase they go through this oral fixation thing as kittens. Both of my black cats had a bad case of the murder mittens
@@DarlingDesi To go along with all the biting related comments ours didn’t responded well to ow or no (she’s a stubborn little thing) so I looked up what to do and the advice I tried that works most of the time is to mimic the sound an mother cat would make when she’s had enough. It’s a sort of quick but forceful "tssst" sound you make through your teeth 😅, not exactly a hiss but something adjacent to it that lets kittens know mom means business. Also they like to love nibble and ours has never broken that habit! ❤ We got ours around the same age you did and she had to be shown how to bathe! Sometimes they just need a little extra guidance when they’re that teeny because they missed the lesson with their litter mates 😂 Try a fountain to improve drinking! Cats are naturally more attracted to running water than standing.
I’ve never had a cat, but I think they’re so cute. Ever since I started cat sitting, I’ve fallen in love with cats. They’re so sweet and they’re a lot like dogs but also different too.
Binx is so very adorable & precious 🖤 I loved the end bits with her helping you carve your pumpkin & taking her for a walk outside 🍁 You could tell how much she loved that! A newer subscriber here 😌 Love your content it’s always very inspiring
Congratulations on your new family member, Binx is adorable! I'm happy for you - my cats are my babies and I treasure them. I'm concerned she was separated from her mother before she was 12 weeks old, though. Kittens shouldn't be separated from their mothers before then. If there isn't a good reason for it, whoever you purchased Binx from isn't serious and I hope you won't recommend them to others as they don't care for the well-being of the cats they bring into the world. Kittens need that time with their mothers and siblings to learn socialisation and such, and separating them too early can impact their behaviour negatively.
@Juni This!! Desi is doing wonderful by Binx, but it makes me so sad that the breeder failed her in letting her leave at 8 weeks old. 😥 The kitten's wellbeing should always be the number one priority for the breeder.
I absolutely agree! And now I uhh.. don’t have the best feelings towards the breeder we used. And that’s putting it lightly 😬 I started doing all my in depth research after we had already met and fell in love with Binx. I saw online that kittens should be at least 10 weeks (preferably 12) but the breeder was so reassuring and convinced us that “this was a normal age for kittens to leave.” We actually had a fall vacation planned and asked if we could pick up Binx a couple weeks later but we were told someone else could just adopt her if we wanted to wait. We canceled our vacation so we could pick her up because either us or someone else would have adopted her, and I had already fallen in love with her. After talking to other cat people and reading some books I am more educated now and will never adopt another kitten before 12 weeks and will absolutely never recommend the breeder we went through. It’s a mistake that we have learned from but I still don’t regret getting Binx because she has enriched our lives so much 🧡 But I am so sad for her having left her mom so soon. We’re trying to do everything we can to help her develop and feel loved. We do hope to get her a sibling too. But that will have to happen after we make a cross country move this winter.
@@DarlingDesi None of us is perfect, we all make mistakes with our pets and learn and grow. My childhood dog came to me at the tender age of 6 weeks! You clearly love her and she looks like she is VERY happy!
@@DarlingDesi The first breeder I adopted a cat from, I don't have the best feelings towards either. 😔It's certainly a learning experience. You've done everything on your part to ensure Binx has a happy, loving and safe home. And you deserve all the praise for that!! I'm sorry for bringing a gray cloud to such lovely news. It's clear that you care deeply for Binx, and that she is very lucky to have you being so considerate for her. 💛 I recently moved abroad with 4 cats, all 4 flew in cabin with us, and they handled the experience so well. I hope your move goes just as smoothly! And I hope this winter brings you many happy memories with Binx and D'artagnan. 🧡
@@DarlingDesi I'm sure you'll provide Binx with ALL the love she will need to thrive (how disappointing to hear that about the breeder though). ❤And like you said, Binx would have been sold to someone else had you not taken her in, so even if her separation from the mother isn't ideal I'm sure she's found the best home she ever could, and like someone else said; she looks so happy with you. She's an adorable little girl and I'm still so happy for you. I'm sorry if I made you feel bad - I hope not - because the breeder is the only one to blame. I look forward to following Binx' journey as she grows up! ❤🌺
@@moirasoma2863
The sound of the bell irritates their ears and they've very sensitive ears, so it does harm them.
Also, if you adopt 2 kittens together, they will train each other not to bite!
Exactly! Rules are so important, and need to be established *now* because later on she will not understand why things should suddenly be different.
Yep, agreed. Good advice. 😽
Awesome advice! The “squeal” thing works really well. It’s what kitties siblings would do if they were being bitten too hard
I also wanted to add how patient and sweet your doggie is. What a good boy. That made me so happy too!!! 😊
anyone else bawl their eyes out? just me? Binx is the literal cutest button of a kitty that I have ever seen!
Thank you! We love her so much 🥹🧡
This video brought me so much joy and actual tears of happiness.
Cats prefer to drink running water over still water. So you might try getting one of those little cat fountains. See if that helps her drink more ❤
We actually do have one for her!
It's kind of similar with babies and puppies, I always attributed it to teething
@@CrystalPistal99 I was thinking that. All babies want to put everything in their mouth 🤣
But if you pet them or give them treats when they bite, they'd "learn" that biting is good. Because you keep rewarding them whenever they do it.
That is bad for obvious reasons.
Congrats! Ive owned 5 cats, two passed away when I was a kid. I have a brown tabby kitten i rescued and she the most energetic fluffball ever!
A 40 MINUTE VIDEO????? Desi you are too good to us what a way to end a Friday night ❤
And to think I planned on this being a 15min video 😅
More Binx content will always be the right choice. Obsessed 😍
Omg I just got to the part where you were wearing your autumn enthusiast sweatshirt 🤩 I love that one so much

I love the longer videos!! I look forward to these videos and when they are longer it’s a treat!! 🥰
I would seriously consider getting a second kitten to play with and teach her that biting hurts! This is advice I received years ago from my vet and I didn’t believe it. But the cat I had at the time never outgrew the bad habit. Now I have two cats and it’s the best decisions I’ve ever made. Good luck!! She’s adorable!
that is exactly what i learned from jackson galaxy here on youtube! :) such great advice!
I second this!!!!! Wish I had gotten a second one as well.
Yes 2 kittens are always better than 1. Cats are much more social than people believe
I never had this problem with my kitten. But I already had an adult cat he played with.
your channel is my literal safe space 💖
🧡🫶🏻
Ugh. Me too. Going through a rough time and this channel is calming my anxiety
Yes, I definitely go to desi’s vids on bad days.
Me too, my sweet black cat Disney, i lost her almost two years ago...
I really loved her so much! Black cats are true gems.
🖤🖤🖤
I also lost my black cat, also a Binx, in summer of ‘21. He was 22yrs old. Black cats are fabulous! Congratulations on your new baby Desi and Jared.
Binx is such a sweetheart!! ♡ If you ever get a second kitty, please consider adoption from shelters :) there are so many unwanted kitties looking for homes!
I got a black kitty when I was 17 years old, she was my best friend
What a beautiful video to welcome little Binx! She’s precious, and D’Artagnan is so good with her!!!❤❤
D’Artagnan is truly the best big brother! So patient and sweet 🥹
Kittens love to bite. A good discouragement for biting is to bop her on the nose. Not too hard, just enough to tell her off. Otherwise, she’ll get big and still be doing it, and then, you’ll really be in a losing battle.😅
Also-I’m sorry, I have to say it-please always make sure you spot her after loading the dishwasher.
@@please.excuse.my.nonsense and washer and dryer. our cat somehow got in the dryer and we almost didn't realize (she wasn't in there for more than two minutes and is still very much alive and healthy, but that was extremely worrying)
omg your doggy waiting patiently to meet her is SO CUTE 😭
She's so fluffy! I got my black cat in 2019. He's name is Salem. Be prepared for scratches and scabs for at least a year. They play with each to learn how to hunt. Just be patient and work with her to know what you will and will not tolerate. She will chill out.
You should read the "The cat who...." series. Qwelleren solves mysteries with his two Siemeise
OMG, I LOVE the Cat Who series!!!! I've been reading it on and off since I was a kid. My favorite is The Cat Who Talked To Ghosts.
You’re message at the end really moved me.. I’ve been feeling so stressed that I’m not being productive enough..
Love your videos! Miss You!! Hope You Are Well & Happy!!!
(P.s. i love your channel and always look forward to new videos) 🥰💕
I must say however that I work with cats for a living and Binx is far too young to have been seperated from momma!
On the contrary,
black cats are known for being curious and natural explorers! But it’s true that you should always introduce kittens to many new situations as they tolerate

My 18 month old, "Kitty! kitty! pumpkin! Kitty!" 😍
I misread this as make sure your kitten gets used to driving the car.😆
@@candydemure Okay, so I’m not the only one. 😅
Desi this video was such a gift thank you 🍂🍁🐈⬛🎃
What an adorable void!
Black cats are the best friends!I see beautiful autumn colours in this video🐈⬛🎃🍁🍂
I was so happy when I saw you were welcoming a new family member!! Congratulations on your new furbaby.🥰
Freeze dried treats are wonderful! She's perhaps still too small for the crunchy ones. She may even still be losing her baby teeth at this age, in case you find tiny teeth lying around. 🦷
The brands of cat food you bought are so good ingredient wise.
You have so much to look forward to with Binx.
This is amazing advise!
Karma is the cat purring on my legs cause it loves me❤️
💯
The part towards the end when you were carving the pumpkin and Binx was climbing up and trying to peer inside literally melted my heart. So sweet❤
Binx is so precious! The past few years I’ve lived with friends who have cats but now I’m living with my girlfriend and it’s weird not having a cat around. We hope to get a cat once we have a bigger place! This video was so heartwarming 🧡🐱
Binx like the (boy) cat from Hocus Pocus?
What a sweet baby 🖤
Binx is soooo cute! I love your channel, it’s as if the words fall and cozy were a person.🧡🧡🧡🧡☺️
Aww thank you for saying that 🥹🧡
Aww bless her she’s teething
Congratulations on Binx!! I got a kitten this spring my 1st in almost 2 decades being more of a dog person. One lesson I learned from my dog is to yowl or say owie loud & my kitten will stop the behavior usually biting my hand. She's still in the crazy toddler stage and kitty proofing all that can harm her while putting things away I don't want broken. Museum wax works well with securing something that's at risk of being knocked down or broken which I got from Jackson Galaxy. Edit...yes having a cat room or what I can her cat condo to make her own still works well..
Best wishes to you 💕.
Very cute…everything 😌
Your home looks cozy and warm for the winter season. You and Binx look wholesome together. I wish the best for all of you. Continue to inspire others while you can.
She’s just teething, biting helps soothe her gums, it will pass eventually. I recommend getting her some silver vine sticks! They’re awesome for her to chew on! Soft but chewy and safe for kitties and natural!
I just raised two kittens to teen hood, with my partner, we learned overtime, it gets easier 😊 so worth it ❤
You've gotta be kitten me! 😸 Congratulations on becoming a cat mom, Desi! 🖤
Thank you so much Jessie!! 🧡🧡🧡
Binx is so cute and precious. I can't wait to get my own black or calico kitten when I am old enough and have a job. I just love cats so much.
Girl, your smile is the most beautiful thing in the video!
It makes my eyes glow✨🥺
Thank you Evelyn! 🥹🫶🏻
So cute. My cat, Chicken, is sleeping comfortably with her 3 babies who are 20 days old.
Omg!! Love the name. Chicken is such a cute cat name.
@@thereseaustin she was found trying to cross the road as a kitten 😸
@@marge3157 Oh that is a good one for sure. Love it! I have a 20 wk Bernese Mountain Dog Puppy his name is Caspian. Full AKC is Prince Caspian of Cair Paravel. ✨️
Oh boy!! Every video of yours is a piece of happiness, but this 😻
🙈🧡🫶🏻
She's so adorable!!! And your videos always make me cry. Not because they're sad, but because they're so sweet. 💖
What a sweet edition to your family! Thank you for all your videos. 🐈⬛🧡
Thank YOU! I hope you enjoy the video 🥰
OMG SO CUTE!!! 🥹 and D’Artagnan is such a good boy!! ❤️
Miss you Desi! Hope all is well and you are loving time with your new kitty, your family and the Holidays!❤
MY CAT MOM HEART WAS SO EXCITED TO SEE THIS. 😍🥹 I love how Dart & Binx match - the perfect siblings!
She’s his little shadow 🥹 Now if only he could start to be less scared of her 😄
I have an orange cat.
I have a senior black cat named jack that adopted us about a year and a half ago!
Beautiful awesome work 💖💛💖💛💗💗💛💛❤💖💜👍👍👍
She is adorable! You have created her own jungle gym cat cave in the bathroom! I love it!
Oh my gosh so cute! Real fans are just as excited as her 😉
ohmygoooddd i am in LOVE!! what a sweet new angel addition 🥰
Your cat is VERY CUTE!!!! I hope you have a good time taking care of Binx! Also i hope your having a wonderful day❤
It is soon going to be a year since I joined your greatest circle of ✨Darling Desi ✨fans here.
🐾🐾❤️
What a precious little Halloween void bean! Hopefully she learns to curb her vampiric tendencies soon. I love her! 🐈⬛🖤
Have the most wonderful times with Binx and Artanian my loveliest Desi💕💕 they are so cute and lucky to share you two as parents🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾
Most loving video ever made....by loving parents???.....yes.
She is completely normal!!! She must bit to devoelope well! Binx it is beautiful. I have seven cats, over time they learn to moderate the bite
Cats are very intelligent but it takes them some time to understand human language, it sounds silly but if you hiss they will immediately stop
PS: Kittens teethe! Might be another reason for biting.
So don't freak out when you find a tooth lying around 😅
You are doing amazing ❤️❤️❤️
Oh my gosh! Awhhh!! Binx is so cute 😍
She’s THE CUTEST 😩
I also got a little kitten a year ago, he is yellow and super cute. His name is Oliver. 🧡🧡
I already had another one, black and white.
Oliver (we call him Oli) he also wouldn't stop biting everything but with time Binx will stop
Mine is 1 year old now and he stopped biting.... if we provoque him he will bite us again.
They are cats / they do what they want.
I love you
And binxxx🧡🧡
Desi!!! Im so thrilled for your family 🥹😭🥰
Thank you!! 🥹🧡
@@DarlingDesi You’re welcome! Watching your videos is always the highlight of my day, so seeing a new addition was a welcome surprise! 🥰
We got ours around the same age you did and she had to be shown how to bathe! Sometimes they just need a little extra guidance when they’re that teeny because they missed the lesson with their litter mates 😂
Try a fountain to improve drinking!
I have little black kitty 🐈⬛️ she's a sweetheart ♥️
