Junior supercars? Any car that can do 205mph and 0-60 in under 2.7 seconds is well into the supercars realm. Yes, I am biased towards Porsche but don't disrespect my brand! Good video! 😃

Audi ruined the one car that actually looks good on their lineup. Its pretty much a low streched TT now.

Jesse D true, the audi interior is very sexy compared to this, but i kind of like the spartan look.
+justin bouche I must disagree. The 911 is quicker but the R8 has a nicer engine and it's more special particularly inside.

Love Porsches, have driven and raced a few, and probably would love this one. Sport Response Button for overtaking! For overtaking what??? A Bugatti Veyron in comfort mode? :)
That being said, I am a GT3RS type of guy and if I wanted an every day super car, I might diversify and get the R8 to not own only Porsches.
Or maybe the 570S!
+Photoandcargeek ... than is again a 3.8 Turbo. The big NA V10+ is what you want different than. The pure Sound and how it drives makes there the difference.

As usual, guys, thank you! I have the Turbo, yet drove the S to make sure I wasn't lacking the best! The S seemed to "coddle" me more with the dynamic stuff, and I'm more old-school and want to feel the bit of body roll and flex so that my senses can react better. Just me. I would not trade the Turbo for the Turbo S. The advantages of the minor increases in power are above my head anyway, and the enhanced control stuff is not my style. The only thing that I think I would like on the track is the boost cutoff delay. THAT changes the foot-dance of this car's turbo personality when you slow and then want it back underfoot.
I spent 6 years learning to drive hard with a BMW Z4M -- a total monster of a basic sports car. So the feel thing, the understeer reactions needed, and the hooligan factor are part of my habit scheme. So calculate that into my comments.

That 2.6 for the 0-62 is incredible. By the way, I wonder what's the difference between the P Zero and the P Zero Corsa. I've only noticed slight differences in the tread.
+ianiva the P Zero Corsa has a much softer compound than the P Zero. Is like F1 medium tire, and hard tyre. The P Zero Trofeo R is the soft tyre...
Corsa's can be 2 seconds a lap faster

its about 30-50% softer I think. less silica, more orange oil in the tyre
which means they wear out faster

I had my Turbo S on the track last night. I have no idea how he can talk, really. The grip and the motor were keeping me half breathless.
Great video guys. Turbo S does seem like a real world every day super car... Would get my vote every time.

Evo really has taken the role of a quality review, more of a serious tone than motortrend, and more info than a Chris Harris type goofing around video. Production quality is just really good.
I love that it's at Kyalami, you know being South African I always watch these tests form other circuits, thanks Porsche for buying the place and bringing it back to life.
I wonder why a huge company like Porsche under the VW group can't make a full carbon tub like the smaller McLaren company.

+boy638 and that purpose of that would be ??? Porsche 911 is fine with aluminium and steel and does not need ultra rigid tubs for an everyday car , oh and BTW a Turbo S is an all weather weapon unlike the gimmick McLaren 540 and 570.
+boy638 but they do. Ever heard of the Carrera GT? The 918? Porsche uses carbon tubs for their hyper cars. The turbo S is based on the 911.

As always, there may be faster cars or even more outrageously powerful ones but again, as always, the 911 Turbo is still the iconic standard to measure other sports cars by. I still have my old room full of 911 posters most especially the 911 Turbo and to this day I still marvel at that shape and the engineering that backs it along with the stupid fun it relentlessly provides. Thank you for this upload.

I'm not really a 911 Turbo fan but I do love the direction that they're going in. The figures on the 991.2 TS are pretty impressive! This is definitely a 'usable' Supercar, I love the fact that some design cues that have been filtered down from the 918.
only Evo and Chris Harris do amazing reviews like this. we need a comparison test vs the GTR, R8 and 570s.
This Porsche is an absolute monster, i can imagine what it could do with cup 2 tyres and some more boost. BEAST!

The 911 concept is about this. Its the people who make the most out of one concept and keep modifying it. This is something very rare today.

Utter class this car, want one so badly.
Drove a Turbo S back to back with my own Boxster GTS, the Turbo is exciting if you have lots of room and speed limit. For daily use, it's dull as yiu can't really use any of the power unless you have Autobahn. The Boxster GTS with the sound feels faster and Raw even at 60-80km/h. The Turbo, fun starts at 120kph!
Porsche tech still killing it! I would be happy with the straight 6 carrera on good tyres

I would like to see this go up against the 2017 Nissan GT-R. Since both cars has been given an additional 20hp the comparison would be a joy and entertaining to watch.
You say this is the first time a Turbo S has used different turbos from the standard Turbo, but if you remember the 2005 996 Turbo used K24 Turbos like in the GT2 whereas the standard Turbo used K16 turbochargers (unless you chose the optional X50 powerkit).
it's an incremental change rather than a leapfrog. That makes it special because it's consistent.
if i was driving the 911 turbos s i would have a smile on that would not leave my face... show me some of that emotion

Great video, top job Prosser, but I miss the more road-oriented content; a lot of 'Evo' cars are first and foremost road cars which are also pretty handy round a circuit, so I'd love to see a bit more road action as well as the track blasts!
Good on the guy doing the review, the Evo blokes are mag journalists who aren't used to tv like Clarkson for example but they are doing a good job. You can compare the 911 to an R8 coz the stats are similar as is the price. I know what you mean by saying can't compare Audi to Porsche however it's not a 1.6 A3 it's an R8 so it's a fair comparison.
Give it GT3 aero and sticky cup 2 tires. Essentially a GT2 but with awd...would be insane.

+VirusTornado I think I remember reading that a designer/engineer from Porsche said that there is not enough they could/would want to do that would differentiate it from a turbo s so it doesn't really have a place in the lineup anymore.
Nick Hoffman Well the GT2s were manual and RWD, and they were more track focused with much less weight. Basically a manual GT3 with a Turbo S engine.

What it think is what you think, I have never driven on of these so I do not have a clue how good it is in comparison to an older Carrera 4S or the likes. Good solid first take review - Dan Prosser is a really great reviewer IMO. A little tiny more bit of fun would crown the cake. Thanks a lot :D
You guys have one of the best jobs going around. Great video, great car. I think I'd still prefer a Carrera GTS though with the manual box and standard suspension.
Eager to see a comparison with the 570S and the R8 V10 Plus. But im sort of afraid of the Turbo-911s regarding the GT-Department. The GT3 RS is sharp and pure but the gap to the "allrounder" just keeps getting bigger. Please make a GT3 RS and an a bit softer 911 R that is the new benchmark in that segment.

I have a '15 Turbo S. If she has any shortcomings I haven't found them. Everything from a track day to a cross country road trip. And rain is just a minor annoyance.

What do u think about the styling tweaks? I personally like the previous 991 Turbo S curved, rectangular LED lights in the front rather than two unemotional bars of lights. But still not a fan of those four-points DRL LED lights.
Those are some pretty impressive drifts to be driving a turbo. Nice driving!

Probably the best all-rounder on the market. Slap some tires from the GT3 RS on this thing and it'll probably hang with pretty much anything you can throw at it.
For my money this is the one to have. My spec would be body colour side intakes and delete the rear wing. As a daily I enjoy 'subtleness'.

Thank god you can change the settings for overtaking with only 580bhp I can imagine getting stuck behind lorries on the motorway.
Looks amazing, would love to hear a bit more about its "everyday" credentials vs the purported ride quality of the 570s. Does 4wd mean much in conditions other than snow when electronics are so capable now?
