🎥 @Rob Mitchell
This is exactly what a private lesson with Rich Larsen would be like.
Dog is one laid back dude
He’s the Matthew McConaughey of dogs. 😂
You're rocking this. I've watched lots of specific skill videos, but I have never seen them put together as a progression, and from someone who teaches so well. I'm your target - street rider who bought a dual sport, and found that I need new skills. But where to start? Right here! The clutch is for power control? I get that now!
I appreciate that! Glad you're enjoying them! Enjoy the series!
I love these types of drills because I can practice them in my backyard! I may be pissing off my neighbors but they just need to understand that fundamentals are important.
Fundamentals!!!
I look forward to this series each week. Thank you.
Thanks so much for following along!
Yep your instructing level is stellar. I took a class with Ryan Wells and combining these vids as well. I'm a short rider and my 300 just feels big. But these drills will fix that! Thanks a million 🙏
Awesome, thank you for watching! Ryan’s a great teacher! You’re on your way!
That dog is a straight unit!
Such a great series.
Looking forward to wheelies in episode 10!
this is by far the best video of this series! the whole series is awesome! but this one every bikeride should be able to manage. no matter the bike and drive safe
These clips and drills should be mandatory before getting on a bike, especially on dirt. Keep up the great work, Cheers from Ballarat Victoria Australia
Often racing against myself whilst at red stop lights, a skill that you can likely practice every ride, love to be able to stand still great tutorial. thanks.
What about the rear brake ? In the french motorcycle licence, they teach us to use the rear brake to "straighten" the bike.
Thank's you Rich your vid's are international and so educational. Keep going like that💪
Thanks for watching! So in my opinion it’s great to practice this both ways front and rear.that being said I recommend riding on the balls of your feet all the time and moving to the rear brake when needed. 👍
Did somebody say, "Slow race"? That's the only kind of race I know, lol! More great advice Rich! I don't think anybody has ever left one of your clinics and thought they didn't get their monies worth!!! 🙌
Haha thanks Mike! Always my goal for sure! Thanks for the support brotha!
I ride a 500EXC and some of these drills are very challenging but I will conquer them. I’m 60 years old and have been riding all my life and no one has ever explained this like Rich does thanks for the help can’t wait to see what’s next
Right on! Thanks so much for watching! Glad to help!
I’m a little older and on a 500 as well. Balance is a skill I want to improve as I age and continue to ride. This series is the best. I was taught a few of these drills in my 40s and tying them all together is great. Rich is a tough but mindful instructor.
Fun simple drills to warm up with.
Yes they are!
Thank you for these! These have made a huge difference in fixing my blind spots!
My son and I follow your advice. It's hard to slow a young teenager down but once he saw an improvement in control and thus speed he's excited to do more. As others have said your instruction has undoubtedly shaved years off my progression, thank you!
Love hearing that! Keep spreading the word! Much appreciated!!
Thank you so much for this Drills - happy new year❤
Happy new year!!🙌
Excellent stuff Rich! Happy New Year!
Same to you!!
great work chaps
Glad you enjoyed it!🙌🙌
Been working thru this series on my WR450 love it. Still a long way to go for me lol
Right on! Glad you’re working weekly! Thanks for the support!
Hello again ! Great exercise, i will try this in my Garden, looking forward for # 5
Awesome 👏 thanks for the video. Can’t wait to get out and try it.
Hope you enjoy it! Thanks for the support!
New subscriber here! I have been riding street forever, 2 yrs ago I got a middle weight adventure bike (650). I love the idea of back gravel, two and single track riding. But, I so lack the the skills needed to control my bike on any surface except pavement. I can see how these skills will transform my experiences. Better skills equal more confidence and less mistakes, which will result into more enjoyable rides! Thank you so much for sharing these drills! RC
Right on! Thanks for watching! You get the logic!
Wooo! Back again with another banger, and im not late this time 😁
Welcome back! Thanks for watching!!
That's another good drill buddy 🤘 thanks for sharing
I appreciate the support!! 🙌
Great series! Could you please make a playlist for them 🤞
After a failed ride I practiced a bit of static balance and clutch control, and suddenly today's ride wasn't a total loss but a small win 👍
Thanks again for the excellent instruction!
Love this series!!
Following along from a T7, haven’t made it passed the standing holds in the barn yet, but excited to eventually I’ll get this part. Great videos!
Thanks for watching! Keep at it!! 🙌
I do these drills in my yard all the time ⏲️. IT will help you in every aspect of your riding
Right on! Thanks for watching!
@IRC Tire USA Moto Not to sound lame or anything but watching your videos have made me twice the rider. Keep up the great work 👍
Not lame at all!! More awesome than anything! Appreciate the support! 🙌
Hi, great series. I noticed you mentioned keeping the peg on the ball of your foot. I’ve had coach say keep the peg in middle of your foot to allow the rider to move the weight back and forth on the bike without moving your foot and also enabling changing gear and applying the back brake without moving your foot. How do you change gear and apply the back break while keeping pegs on ball of your feet?
That’s incorrect. Riding on the balls of your feet allows for more flexion and extension. This also allows for a proper knees above toes not in front for so much more movement and control over the machine. The majority of the time when riding your not (shifting or braking) you are attacking and controlling. I move to the rear brake when needed. I move to the shifter when needed, then always reset on the balls of my feet. Top modern riders are on the balls of their feet the majority of the time.
Great one Rich, we do need more volume on the audio though. It's always maxed out and I'm still straining to hear. Thanks again, keep 'em coming!
Thanks Rich - outstanding
Glad you enjoyed it
another great exercise i can do on my own just outside... thanks for sharing!
Any time! thanks for the support!
@@IRCTireUSAMoto my pleasure guys!
I Love your Dog.....
He’s the raddest part of the videos
Great drill! Always watching with pleasure. Can't wait summer to bring it all to my training sessions. I'm curious about that thing on yor right hand, Rich. What's that? Got some injury in the past?
Broken scaphoid that never healed. It’s a mobius wrist brace. Thanks for watching!
Ouch! Seems to be hurt. Wish you not to get any injuries in the future, man
Thank you man! Definitely a part of the game!
No, sir! Thanks, but I don't plan any of that sh*t😁
Hey Rich. I understand you say to stay centred and maintain even pressure on the pegs, but why do you suggest dragging the front brake rather than the rear? Coming from a street bike I was always told to drag the rear in slow situations.
👍🏼😃 super again. THX a lot
Thank you too!
@@IRCTireUSAMoto your videos help me and my son. We just starting with dirtbike 👍
Good rich video, getting to have a balance of the most important thing, I complicate it a bit because of less flat terrain.
Definitely best to master on flat ground then apply to technical terrain! Thanks for watching!
Came for moto lessons, stayed for Rich’s dog
Do these drills translate to bigger bikes? Ie ktm 890. I would be very iterated unseeing how you would modify for the bigger / middle weights. Your making reconciler my purchase. Really great videos soooo many nuggets. Thank you!!!
I am an experienced track day guy with sportbikes. What tips do you have for guys like me? It seems everything for dirt is opposite for street/track!
My first thought was ….oh man….I bet I can do this one easy…….then I was like….well, maybe not a straight line. Haha. Then you mention the circle.
Guess I better set up the cones and see
Haha! That’s everyone!! Thanks for the support!
Hi
Could you tell me if you organize training courses?
Cheers.
What do you think about studded tires for winter riding? What would you recommend?
Ya if the ground is completely frozen studs are good. I'd say the M5B EVO is the choice fro studs.
For this vid and others that will have cones or other ground markers, can you give us the measurements for the set up?
Sure. Honestly I don’t measure them out. But I’d say this is about 6 foot by 45 feet .
Your balance is mega rich
Thanks man! You have it in you as well! 🤘 thanks for the support!
Where can I contact to get lesson
Email me richlarsen511@gmail.com
Hey Rich, What was the distances of your cone spacing? 🤔
Honestly I don’t know. I kind of eye ball it.
@@IRCTireUSAMoto Well then how am I supposed to know if I can beat Mark?!? 🤣 JK, Great Drill, Really appreciate your videos!!
Try 6’ by 45’
What's your dog called...he/she is in all your videos!
Rome! 🐶 he’s the man!
@@IRCTireUSAMoto ❤️ dogs are just the best friends ever.
Roamer is like - slow race? Boring. Where the ladies at?
Haha. Definitely all about speed that one.
