I love that you mention Make Our Days Count, it's one of my top 3 BL's! There's a really nice bit of storytelling in that show that falls under the love language of "Gifts". We're told that Yu Xi Gu has been living on his own for a while, supporting himself for what sounds like his high school years, so he doesn't have a lot of money for food. As the story develops, the character detail that he likes sweet food is made known. Knowing that he struggles to afford the basics, it's implied that he's lived some of his childhood going without treats. As Xiang Hao Ting begins to get closer to Yu Xi Gu, he picks up on his likes and starts to gift him with treats (a pack of M&Ms, christmas chocolates, pudding). There's also a funny scene where Yu Xi Gu also tries to gift Xiang Hao Ting with candy, showing just how much he values being able to have a treat. This is a subtle detail of the show, that always has me appreciating the character development. I like that it shows the growth of Xiang Hao Ting (a main character) too, which I think is a necessity for a show that falls under the bullying trope. He starts off as a pretty selfish character, and through his experience with Yu Xi Gu, becomes more aware of himself, others, and the impact of his actions.
It’s hard to choose just one scene, but the one that jumps out as being very romantic is from the first ep of Moonlight Chicken. If we’re going with physical touch as a love language, the way Wen so naturally rests his head on Jim’s shoulder as they walk down that beautiful alley is so lovely. I love how the head-on-shoulder thing becomes *their* thing. And later, their NC scene is very loving for an ONS. The face stroking and hand holding is just so romantic. No wonder Wen can’t let Jim go after that!
Love Language? here we go- ♥Affirmation ♥- In ‘We Best Love 2, Shu Yi & Gao Shi De really rock the Affirmation Love Language! They took a whole 1st season and three episodes of the 2nd to get there, but man, was it worth it! Episode 4 drops this bomb, ‘I’m sorry I didn’t believe in your forever’, and that’s when their affirmation game really kicks off. That line stuck with me for ages… and there are so many more scenes with killer affirmations after that. ♥Quality Time♥ ‘Long Time No See’ nailed it in Chapter 3, where Flying Dagger visits Wild Dog’s place, has some hilarious banter with the sister, a chill walk in the park, and the cherry on top - their kiss on the railway track. Perfection! ♥Receiving Gifts ♥ I’m totally with you on ‘Until We Meet Again’. ♥Acts of Service ♥ ‘30-sai Cherry Magic’, the Japanese version, is on point. Kurosawa is all about serving Adachi, and you can practically read his mind about what that service would look like if only Adachi would let him... -Stay with Me I think Wu Bi & Su Yu also use the Service love language but I cannot think of a specific scene. ♥Physical Touch ♥The BL that totally owned the Physical Touch Love Language, in my opinion, was ‘Tokyo in April’. Kazuma and Ren had such an intriguing development curve in that aspect. -A scene that’s burned into my memory is from ‘I Told Sunset About You’, episode 3. They’re sitting on the sofa watching a movie, starting far apart, then gradually getting closer, touching each other legs… and the scene in the room later, (⚠no spoilers), but it’s an AMAZING Physical Touch scene.

I’ve just thought of another example! I’m rewatching Kiseki: Dear to Me and there are so many romantic moments! *spoilers ahead!* The reunion scene between Bai Zong Yi and Ze Rui is gorgeous. There’s a moment when they share that they’ve counted the days since they last saw each other which is incredibly heartbreaking but so touching 🥺 Also, the fact that he went to jail for his lover and then set up a cake shop where he served his favourite cake in case he returned to him. Ahhh! I know the second couple get a lot of the love, but that MC’s arc is both tragic and super romantic!
I'm not sure if this fits into the "acts of service" category, but what I find very romantic is Liming's effort to learn sign language to communicate with Heart. When he willingly translates a song to Heart using sign language, it's just perfect.
One thing in the "physical touch" section that stands out is the chin touch or chin tickle of Heart Liming and Tinn Gun. I believe this action is actually Gemini Fourth's thing, which makes it more meaningful for me. (I'm such a Gemini Fourth stan, I'm sorry lmao).
Fun fact: the 5 love languages was created by a homophobic baptist minister who wrote a book in the 90s of faith-based relationship advice based on anecdotal experience from his years of being a church marriage counselor. Ok, it's a not-so-fun fact. But, my love of categorizing things compels me to divorce the author from the work in this case lol. Regardless of origin, it can be a useful tool in trying to learn how best to make your partner feel loved, as the original point was about understanding someone else's love language so that you can start speaking it. - Words of Affirmation: The very first one that came to mind for this one was the convo preceding their first kiss in My Tooth Your Love. Bai Lang is worried they shouldn't get together bc he will mess it up, mentioning that his behavior caused his parents' death. Xun An doesn't respond with the usual "oh no, don't blame yourself" speech. Instead, he explains that he can't refute what Bai Lang said bc it wouldn't do any good, Bai Lang believes it bc his brain has been broken by trauma and grief, and Xun An understands that's not something he can fix but that he can and will be by Bai's side to support in however he needs to move past it. And that was what Bai needed all along, someone to love him despite the difficulty but without trying to pretend his problems don't exist or can be cured by love. Xun An gave him that with one brief response. - Acts of Service: Oh I could go on and on for this, it's possibly my favorite thing. And there are a lot of different ways you could go w/ it. But my philosophy is when in doubt choose violence, so Chisoo killing his crime daddy to protect Gitae in Long Time No See is my top pick for this. Tho, if forced to pick a non-violent option, I am a sucker for anyone who can cook for me so my dream is to have Tops whip up the perfect edible solution to all my problems like he does for Win in Ingredients. - Gifts: I'm a sucker for anonymous gifts, possibly bc I've always kinda wanted a secret admirer lol. So the milk in Mr Heart and tea in About Youth were both the first things I thought of. A funnier example is when Leo and Fiat are caught making out by the maid in Leo's house, Fiat is so embarrassed that he doesn't even want to go back so Leo just buys them an entirely seperate house to live together in. Find you a partner who will make significant real estate purchases just to save you from your own shame lol. - Quality Time: This was a harder one, but once I remembered how much bl loves a good frolic it was easier to come up with examples. A recent one that I adore is the montage of Kawi and Pisaeng's life together in Be My Favorite. I love the variety in it, it felt so natural for a couple in a long-term relationship. Sometimes they're all over each other cuddling, sometimes they're doing their own things in the same space. I usually find montages to be an unsatisfying shortcut for real storytelling, but in this case it was so effective in showing how they grew into each other's lives over the course of so many years. The other one I have loved ever since I first watched it was in Ghost Host Ghost House when Kawin tags along with Pluem as he goes about his day. It's such an effective way to learn more about Pluem along w/ Kawin, each activity revealing something about Pluem's dreams (like crashing a funeral to practice his acting) and levels of kindness (learning sign language to better communicate w/ the deaf boy on his delivery route). - Physical Touch: I don't know if any of you have seen Cityboy_Log yet (if you haven't go do it now, it's short and a fascinating bl take on a sort of lonelygirl15 meets Lizzie Bennet Diaries style series), but there's a scene where one of the characters climbs into bed after the other is starting to fall asleep, gently kisses his neck, and the sleeping one smiles before turning around to curl up and is enveloped in his boyfriend's arms. That's a long-winded explanation, and I don't know if there was a shorter way to describe it, but yeah an almost suffocating snuggle is my jam.

There are so many which is why BL completely hooked me. If i have to choose, its the final bed scene in I Feel you Linger in the Air. Jom and Yai will soon be separated. The love, desire, and grief was expertly and beautifully depicted. Every emotion was palpable.

Such a great listen! It has been been so long since I've thought about GSP! I think imma re-watch thanks for the throwback. The reality of not being abke to experience things heterosexual couples can, like school dances or public hand holding without anxiety, is one of the reasons I love BL's. One romantic/emotional moment that immediately came to mind for me was in History 3 Trapped. After Shao Fei was shot and he woke up in the hospital. Tang Yi gives him water and SF tells the story of a fortune teller predicting he would live a long life. This scene is really short but always stuck with me. The acting, lighting, music was perfect and the emotions were so clear though neither had confessed by that point in the story. Speaking of confessions, the 2 part confession of Shao Fei and Tang Yi will always be my one of my favorites! Thanks for the show!

The moment when Qian stops Yuan from walking and then their hands are clasped from outside on the stairs all the way to the house on the stairs. Tokyo in April is… The scene where Kazuma was putting Ren in his (Kazuma’s) white shirt… it felt like such a loving scene 😍😍
