Jedi - Upper Hixon Forest, La Crosse, WI MTB - Fast w/ Jumps & Drops!

- Well I finally made it to La Crosse, WI to ride! Chad showed Spencer and me around Upper Hixon Forest and man we had a ton of fun. In this video I'm riding Jedi, which is a rad blue trail that you can get hauling ass down and get really sendy on some cool jumps, which I kept casing...There is also a massive rock drop that was really smooth and well built. I really enjoyed riding this trail, it was a blast!
There are a ton of trails in La Crosse and we only rode stuff in the Upper Hixon portion. Trails we hit that day include Stinky's, Twister, OB1, Nerfherder, Jedi, and Vader. Many of which are built by Rock Solid Trail Construction. I only really filmed Jedi and Vader (Vader video to come out later). At the end of each downhill run you are greeted with a nice gradual switchback climb. You can get a lot of climbing done here. Even trying to avoid climbing a lot we managed 1300 feet of elevation gain in just 10 miles.
I recommend getting out to La Crosse to ride. I hear there are plans for way more trails there in the future!

Hell Yeah! Took you long enough. That drop is not bad but the more you look at it the more doubt you will have! As always rock lips freak me out lol You were shredding out there!
Hahahaha right?!? Took me forever to get there and it's only an hour away! It was fun and that drop is smooth as butter. I really enjoyed the speed that you carry through this trail. Tons of fun! You will get comfortable on rock lips, you have been progressing so much!
@@Tkolbo_ 😂 Yeah that drop is so good just looks big. I'm sure I will since Rock Solid is building so many trails everywhere with these lips lol

Welcome back dude!! Hixon is sweet, hate the climbs though!!
It takes a special kind of masochist to like them! Good gearing and practice helps with them.
Hixon is sweet, the climbs are tough but they will definitely help turn my fatness to fitness!
This was definitely my favorite trail there! Nice work dude. My first time down it I hit that drop blind but slowed down a bit coming up to it and then realized there was an actual gap to clear so had to quick give it a big pull to clear it haha. I guess that’s why they say look before ya leap. 🤷🏻♂️
Yeah I luckily knew about it before hand so I knew to stop and take a look. Jedi is a rad trail and totally worthy of laps. If I had more time there and lets be honest better endurance for the climb out I would have ran some party laps on it!

Thank you! You live near La Crosse? You can definitely get to the point of hitting that drop or similar drops. Is all about building up to it. Graded exposure if you will! Keep on shredding!

@@Tkolbo_ I have been. Thanks for asking. Busy as heck these days. Gonna spend the morning cleaning up the yard. Storm just passed. Several large branches down. Messy. No serious damage.
@@harrygrimley4352 I had about 3 years of branches to take out of my yard once I finally got bought a truck. So nice not having a huge pile of branches on the side if my house, but what a pain it was…

Man, I keep wanting to drive down there and ride those trails. That drop looks serious.
It’s a pretty legit drop and a legit trail system! I think you could find plenty of stuff to have fun on!
Its definitely scary! 5.5 feet give or take a tad. Easily 6+ to where you should land.
There's alot of other trails here that don't require the commitment into that drop. Plenty of fun to be had!
The GoPro performance frustration is real! 😂 This would of been sick, I appreciated the invite. Hope to get out here at some point! That drop looks fun and some of those tables/doubles look like they require a lot of work to clear. Never the less, sick vid and shred!
I bet the locals can clear everything with ease. If I did the trail a couple more times I bet I would have had much better results! It’s pretty damn fun man. Let’s hit it at some point!
@@Tkolbo_ Local here, can confirm, they definitely get easier with time. Just did the big drop for the first time today actually.
I would fret it much, it's a higher speed trail, and definitely takes some commitment to get through. scared me shitless for the longest time!

Stoked you got to see what La Crosse has up in the Hixon Forest bluffs. It’s funny that a blue trail has a drop over 6’ tall but it’s built smoothly so it’s not too sketchy at least. Looking forward to the Vader vid, hope the wheels survived!
I was very stoked on it man! Jedi was so damn fun and La Crosse loves their gnar! Vader video incoming by the end of the week! Spoiler alert, my wheels did survive.

The Midwest loves their mtb! And they do what they can with the terrain. This place is nestled in the bluffs along the mighty Mississippi, making it quite the varied terrain, plenty of elevation gain to be had! I did get to Gowdy and may have even ridden a new trail… ;)
Sick! Bet you felt right at home with all that chunky, off-camber dirtitecture over there. Personally I felt like I was getting pulled in every direction by the terrain. Good stuff hammering out the drop. Is there a pt. 2 of you and Chad martyring yourselves down Vader or do we have to wait for forensics to release the footage?
Oh yes there is a part 2! I definitely enjoyed the terrain, it was very up my alley. I love me some rocks! The drop was incredibly fun and I’d love to go hit these trails again as well as hit the lower hixon stuff! It’s nice that La Crosse is only as hour from me. Thanks for checking it out! You cut out the footage of you crying and needing me to tow you into that drop. Do you think I am stupid? You completely took advantage of me. You should know that I reported you to the local Biker Community. Expect some hefty fines and a revocation of your GoPro operation permit. They're probably going to force you to ride gravel and make you pretend its fun. I expect it won’t get pretty in any sense, but not my problem. Good luck with your future videos, man. I think you're gonna need it. Goodbye, good riddance.
