  • The Gateway Trails in La Crosse, WI are a new trail system located on Grandad Bluff, near the older Upper Hixon Forest Trails. I wanted to ride the new black diamond trail War Eagle that descends nearly 300 feet in only 3/4 of a mile according to Trailforks elevation. This trail was built by Rock Solid and was a lot of fun with some very steep sections and optional drops and rock features! Then I rode the blue trails Wolfsbane and Tramway down to the bottom of the bluff in La Crosse, WI. These had some fast flow sections and scenic views through the forest. I was running out of daylight so I decide to climb back to the top of Grandad Bluff on the road. La Crosse has been quietly building a MTB scene with great bluff terrain and other Rock Solid trails, and these trails will help them continue to become a MTB destination in Wisconsin.

They have really built some great trail in La Crosse over the years, would love to ride there again sometime but I live 6 hours away from there! Maybe someday I'll get back there and see what else they're building up in the bluffs!

It’s always great to see other trails around the world! We don’t have much for mountains here in the American Midwest but these bluff trails can be pretty steep! Thanks for watching!

Sick! You almost bottomed out that suspension.

Thanks, that trail is a fun descent! That drop was really harsh, the volume spacers in my suspension really saved me there!

Nice dude. I was interested to check that trail out, looks kinda harsh 😅 I didn’t know about the Wolf’s Bane trail though. I need to get back down there. That Yoshi rock is a real Easter egg

Wanted to ride the other trails but ran out of daylight and I was spent after biking up that road! That drop is harsh but you don’t have to huck it to flat, it’s rollable to the right and there’s also the bypass. La Crosse has been quietly building some great trails with the Star Wars Galaxy trails and future expansion plans. Poor Yoshi, I was equally surprised and sad after running him over.

Harsh drop! I do want to ride here at some point. Keeping that suspension Dialed in!

Harsh huck to flat but the suspension was Dialed In considering how plush it is on the smaller bumps, volume spacers are the best! It’s a fun trail and very steep, watch that speed and those switchbacks!

I mean your riding impressed me but then you paddled up the bluff..!! It’s hard enough driving up it.

Haha thank you! La Crosse has amazing terrain up in the river bluffs, but you have to earn your descents with those climbs! Hoping to get back there and check out the rest of the bluff trails sometime
