- For today's video we check out the Hixon Forest in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Wow that's all I have to say. The time that I was able to spend here was awesome. Plenty of variety for everyone from a fun pump track to start off your ride to warm up those arms and legs or it's the three downhill trails to get your blood pumping and of course some strenuous cross country trails. I started off the ride with Nerfherder DH this was built by Rock Solid Trail Construction in 2018 and offers great built berms, roller and smaller jumps. Next I ride the Jedi DH this was again was built by Rock Solid Trail Construction in 2019. This trail is pretty gnarly for a blue downhill trail. Plenty of armored lipped step ups, table tops, and gaps. Towards the end we encounter a huge that is well...above my pay grade for sure. Hope you enjoy!

AWESOME video, thanks! I will put that one on the list.
Hixon is an awesome trail system and won't disappoint!
That drop has a fairly flat landing if your not carrying enough speed which I learned with a hard landing. I’m heading back next weekend. The single track is awesome there as well especially chicanery. Thanks for sharing the vid.
Chicanery was fun as hell. If you haven’t made the trip out to Copper Harbor but do some day you’ll love Red Trail.
Did some of the trail riding as well! love this place.
Looks fun and will definitely make a day trip down there next season. Thanks for highlighting the local trails!
Glad you enjoyed it! It's a blast to ride make sure you make it a full day lots to things to hit!
Just a bit sideways. Glad you came out ok. Hixon is on my radar but haven't made the drive south yet.
Just a bit...It's a rad place lots of nice singletrack too.
Yeah man la crosse can really eat u up. On biking, climbing and on the water especially
Awesome trails but for whatever reason that terrain on the Jedi and Nerfherder trails was sketchy as hell. Not sure if the rocks were just a little bigger than other places or what but I feel like it was hard to hold a straight line and the way the jumps would kick me or the way I was landing had me going places I wasn’t intending. Good to see you came out of that crash unscathed. My boy Owen ate it off that big drop and flew off the trail, he dived right between to piles of rocks fortunately and just got a sore elbow out of it.
Yeah I think its the armored lips that put people off instead of it just being dirt? Not sure. Defiantly some fun sketchy stuff out there! Yeah only a few scrapes and bruises thankfully
Good thing you landed in all that soft green and missed the tree. Nice video. Place looks cool. Thanks
Yeah that tree had it out to get me lol
Well those trails look like a ton of fun.
Super fun. It sounds like in the near future they will be building over 50 miles over a 5 year span!
Surprised you haven't been down this way, feel like you have been everywhere! haha
@@maz_mtb3266 I try to get around. Haha!
Cool spot! I also went out there on one of those 95 deg days, the climbs back up got brutal...
Also rode this in the baking hot sun and yeah man, those climbs were arduous.
haha right there with ya! so bad...
Gettin’ sideways in the air is what MTB is all about! 😉🤙🏻🦅
Hahaha yeah you're right but not the sideways I wanted lol
Love seeing LaX represented! Hoping to
Get more connected with the MTB scene in the driftless. Great video!
Nice vid. I’m going to be there on Sunday for the first time. My folks live in La Crosse but for some reason I still haven’t gone riding there.
Have fun riding out there it's a blast!
JEDi is so good 👌🏻
Sooo Good!
Definitely on my radar for a place to ride. Do you have video of more trails up there? Glad you are okay from that wreck man! Keep it up and keep progressing. We should definitely link up at some point and ride
Yeah I have a bit more footage I have to go through and edit. Thanks man I appreciate that! Absolutely I would be down to shred some singletrack with ya! Keep in touch!
Minnesota MTB for sure! I’ll hit you up on the Gram bruh
@@Tkolbo_ SICK!
For those of us who prefer something beside laps of climbs and downhills, are there any decent XC trails?
Yes. :)
Awesome vid!
Ive been there! Sadly it was on a Walmart bike which i broke. But ive been there! Still dont have a good bike to ride yet sadly
Take my 3 kids there often, they love riding the pump track, the green trails and the blue Twister trail. They always want to ride more, but I am not going to make them do those climbs back up. haha Great area to ride though!
Which trails would you recommend for kids 8-10?
@@DriftlessCatholic At Hixon? My 4 year old has been on Twister and the Prairie Loop. Pump track is great. We haven't been on the new trails at Grand Dad bluff yet, but from what I have seen there are more kid friendly trails there.
If the kids can climb well, Jedi should be doable just have them go around the big drop(there are signs, so it won't surprise
you)
Looks like a great trail. What bike are you riding?
A 2016 or 2017 Diamondback Mission Pro
Did you go back to hit that right line???
Nope next time!
