That could be why her eyes were swollen up. Or from those damn Japanese Beetles! Same happened to me when I worked at an animal shelter and we did a huge Spring clean during their high season! That n all the TONS of extra CAT fluff n dander flying around which I m not USually allergic to but all that combined! BIG time allergies! YEAH! The whites of MY eyes were so thickened and red n itchy I could barely drive down the road aways to the pharmacy to get eye wash/ drops etc! Nasty lil critters!

put caves/ hideaways and aquatic plants in the pond so the fish can hide and aren't as exposed or visible to predators.
Also, fun fact about those invasive lady beetles, they were brought from Asia as an aphid control solution (because the native lady bugs eat aphids) but it turns out the asian varieties don't actually eat aphids like their American lookalikes, so not only are they doing nothing for farmers to control pests, but they've become a serious pest themselves.

Hannah regarding the camera and focus. There are tools built in to most devices to help you determine what is in focus. Hope this will help :)
Focus peaking, is the most common one. It will show you areas of high local contrast. Which basically only can exist when stuff is in focus.
Punch in magnification is also common. One usually find it in the camera menus then use the joystick to move around were in the image you punch in.
There is a technic called Hyperfocal distance, which can be used for getting stuff in focus. It depends on what camera and lens you are using. Let's say that you using an Sony ZV-E1 and a 24mm lens, If you put the lens to f/16 and focus on object 4 feet in front. Everything from 2 feet to infinity will be in focus. There are tables and calculators on the web for different camera sensor sizes and focal lengths.

Oh nooo, so it was a mink that got the last school of fish? I have no idea what you’d do to keep those wily little buggers out other than some kind of fence that would completely disrupt the zen view. You could try trapping them to release or back in the old days, they set snares up for them to harvest them for their beautiful mink coats. I know you’re more of a catch and release kind of gal but this may be a japanese beetle kind of racket too otherwise.
Haha, Steve must be from BC if he’s finding that cold? Your climate is exactly like mine here in NB. Nice to meet you Steve, welcome to the fun.

I don't know whether you appreciate unsolicited advice or just wish people would stay out of your business, so feel free to stop reading if you don't want any. But potting soil is different from seeding soil. It's usually coarser and may not be as good at offering a young seedling the structure it needs as it begins to grow. I've found the very best seedling soil to be a mixture of soaked coconut coir and bagged worm castings (or a finely screened compost). It has a fine structure and holds moisture well, but also drains well. Making it is a fun project (soak the coir in a big tub until it's the right moisture and mix in the castings.) You get some real dirt under your fingernails doing it. Take care, and hi to Steven!

It's all coming together Hannah. This young lady growth in life is so amazing. It makes me look for ways to grow. Hannah your energy and drive is contagious. I am enjoying Steve. He seems to fit in very nicely with the camera. I love the new jewelry line. I am a plus size gal. If you could make alittle bigger pieces that help us out.

About the fish and the otters: it is obviously not going to keep the otters away but in a natural habitat fish usually have plants or caves or something to hide in, maybe that could provide some more safety.. and know we are entering real half-knowledge terrain but I recall my dad saying the fish eat the algae blossoms so fish and plants (and time for everything to balance itself out) might create a stable ecosystem to influence the algae problem positively. You should definitely do some research because I don't own a pond or fish and am just passing on whatever scraps my adhd brain could hold on to..

Spray for the Asian beetles before they come on the outside of your houses. It's crazy productive with the right spray!

For your beautiful pond you may want to look into getting a electric solar powered goat fencing to keep the otters out , it come in a 4'' square netting or maybe even a single wire may work as well .............
