Having huge troubles getting my stock m50tu to run off ms3x pnp, I got it to stay running one time but it didn’t run very good, I think the base tune isn’t right, fuel is calculated for a 2900cc engine with 21.5lb injectors, I had to cut cranking pulse widths a little more than half to get it to start that one time. Hasn’t started since
awsome you built your own plug and play setup, curious if your running (idle air control valve) iacv, i have had some issues with mine since initial setup, wondering if you could offer any advice, ms3x, iacv 12v from ecu relay (stock) controlling the other 2 pins with idle output and nitrious 2 output, i wasnt able to get the car to run so i disconnected iacv, idled fine at roughly 800rpm, today i took a look at the iacv and found it cracked open, essentially creating a large boost leak as i only had the hose from intake manifold connected, if i can get iacv to work with closed loop settings , should i install the other hose into the intake stream to prevent boost leaks, or should block off iacv completely and adjust idle via throttle stop? pretty much trying to ask if its ok to not run hose from idle vale to charge air pipe before throttle . thanks for the videos dude you kill it man the builds and cars are sick
Avery Mccall Yeah the iacv works flawlessy with my ms3x. I wouldn't do the setup without. I need to use the iacv to control the engine all the time to make it behave like stock engine. Without it the engine easily shuts down when you come off thortlle, the idle rpm highly depends on engine load and with cold engine, you need to apply thorttle to keep it running. So i highly recommend using iacv. It can be time comsuming to get all the idle maps dialed in but it's worth it. And put the iacv inlet hose to charge piping before thorttle flap. In that way it works properly.
I guess the problem was more like the cam signal occured in the missingtooth area (by default on M50NV), and with the M52 crank trigger, the firing order should be rotated by 3, so 6-2-4-1-5-3. I have M50NV with M52 trigger wheel too.
Hello Pazi. I have M50b25NV too. and stock triggers. I just change camshaft trigger little bit but always have problems to start. Only starts on 60C temperature UP and maybe on 5th try. This is stock M50 triggers position: goo.gl/NNkHLU And If I redrill and make small change in camshaft trigger: goo.gl/3BntFu
I meant the M52 trigger wheel, not the HALL sensor. M50NV trigger wheel have the missingtooth when the cam signal happens. With M52 trigger wheel (and M50Vanos too), the camsync happens on 100th tooth (so in 1 crank turn it's 40th), that's why you have to start with the 3rd ignition event. Considering soldering in the ECU, that's why i went with Ecumaster EMU. Sensor types can be easily configured in the SW. :)
Yeah that's what I meant. But megasquirt manual says that the cam trigger should come close to #1 tooth so m50NV trigger wheel is fine. And I like soldering and tinkering with this stuff, so megasquirt is much more fun than regular aftermarket ecu. And lot cheaper.
I bought a k data M50 vanos pnp ecu years ago and have not yet used it. I am now going to be turbocharging a non vanos motor with harness and was hoping to use the pnp k data. In the megasquirt settings can i change the cam sensor to VR and the trigger wheel setting to the m50nv 84 degrees and it will work?
No. The sensor type in kdfi is in hardware. But the crank sensor in both vanos and non-vanos engines is vr type so no need to worry about that. Just change the crank trigger wheel setting from 324 to 84 degrees.
Tuning that is quite easy. You need to run it in 3wire PWM mode, close to 100Hz frequency. Open loop (warm-up) algorithm is the easiest and just tune the PWM idle warmup curve, so that the engine idles with wanted RPM.
ihello i'm working on a m52 conversion with kompressor and planning to run a ms2x system but i'm having trouble with the wiring for some reason it wil not spark i'm using the original coils and sensors could you help i think i wired someting wrong
The original cam sensor can't be used with megasquirt. But it's not needed with ms2 because It can't do sequential fuel and spark in 6 cyl. But you also need to use 1k pull-up resistor for crank sensor.
Do you have an external lambda controller? I have issues to connect mine to the keri 1.4 ( e36 m50b25 Turbo) How have you connected yours? Analog Output from the Lambdacontroller to OXY1/OXY2? Thanks for your help.
Hey Pazi. Do you think i can run an ms41 ecu on an m50b25? i have to mention that right now i'm running it with a ms40.1 from my old engine(with b20 maf). Thanks in advance, love your videos!!!
Itse asiassa ihan muutama päivä sitten törmäsin ko. vehkeeseen. Ihan mielenkiintoisen oloinen laitos, mitä vois kokeilla jossain kunnon low budged projektissa.
Did you watch the video? It was troubleshooting video and eventually it starts right up.
TidalSnow I would prefer ms3 because it's easy tunability. I think it's one the easiest aftermarket ecu to tune (from what I have tested/heard). But ms3pro is quite pricey, so I would also check the maxxecu. It's really popular here in finland and I haven't heard one bad talk about that. And the street version is cheaper than ms3pro if you don't need all of the features.
Thank you for showing this. Also that wrench at 9:30 was close to a chip on that fresh paint
I do like frequent uploads. thank you. very interesting project.
I love your videos seeing how projects going on.

i am aways happy when you upload a video :D
Very nice good work i have almost a same intake now 933 cc injectors bmw love the tunne ability 😏🙄

pazi88 awsome dude thank for the advice.

I have M50NV with M52 trigger wheel too.
Yeah that would be another way to solve that. But the wiring inside ecu is annoying to change so doing the trigger wheel mod was easier.

Check the EMU prices, these are cheap aswell. ;)
you're a wizard !

What’s your opinion on turboing a Vanos m50? And what intake is that?
very helpful .....can you make video how to tune idle valve or just screen shot from idle setting thank you

What video do you change the wiring to sequential, I remember watching it but can't find the exact one. As always great video!!
I don't have that kind of video. The ecu is completely new. I will have video coming about that.
pazi88 I thought you modified the wiring harness for the injectors, it might be someone else's video. Thank you anyway
Do you have an external lambda controller?
I have issues to connect mine to the keri 1.4 ( e36 m50b25 Turbo)
How have you connected yours?
Analog Output from the Lambdacontroller to OXY1/OXY2?
Thanks for your help.
Just run the 0-5v analog output signal to kdfi oxy1 and it should be fine. Choose PLX/innovate as AFR calibration in tuner studio
Thank you so much ! You're a very big help for me .
Hey Pazi. Do you think i can run an ms41 ecu on an m50b25? i have to mention that right now i'm running it with a ms40.1 from my old engine(with b20 maf). Thanks in advance, love your videos!!!
Serban Ciobotaru Yes that is possible. My friends m50b25 turbo is converted to ms41. You need to swap the wiring and sensors to m52 ones.
Thanks a lot! You are the inspiration i needed to swap a new engine myself. Just finished the swap and I love it!
Also. Do you happen to know how to remove immobiliser from a bosch 413 ecu?
I want a MS3 PnP for my m50 so badly!
