yeah I'm interested to hear how this will sound at normal idle level (around 800 RPM). The cams aren't anything crazy but should still sound quite different than stock.

azaza808 I will do ms3 build from scratch for my m52 turbo so those will probaply come in that. And the base board is same in ms1,2 and 3 so those things will apply to all versions. I'm just waiting for my kit to arrive so I can start.
Michael Milberger As I said we are not welders ;) The guys that lay down perfect beads have done that every day maybe tens of years. So much that it's like an art. Our welds are just welds made for use. Not a single weld that we have done has ever cracked so it's fine for us.
I have an M50b25 with its harness but it's running with an M52 crank pulley and I have noted that the pulleys are different. What firing order should I use for the car to run I came t find any chart on the net. It's swapped in an e28 chassis

Thanks a lot. Listing the price off all the parts is quite useless. Because the prices change from time to time it highly depends where you are buying the parts. For example we bought the pistons from UK in time when the brexit took down the UK pound and because of that we got the pistons for less than 1000€ including shipping. At the moment the cheapest price for the pistons looks to be close to 1200€ without shipping...

Yes I know but the stock ones were old and crusty. And one already broke. So new coils were needed and these used ones were cheaper than new OEM coils, so we decided to get these instead of new OEM coils.
No. The coils are pretty much on/off thing. They either are enough and the engine runs fine. Or they aren't and the engine starts misfiring at boost or something like that. You won't gain any HP by changing coils.
Hello guys, great work. I have a question regarding my M50 engine. When i push the throttle. there is sound coming out of the Throttle body (HISSSS) it sounds like a huge vacuum leak, but when i put my hand against the Throttle body flap, its pushing air out of intake manifold (only happens when i stomp on it) The engine sounds like this *kick the throttle* - HISSS-(0.5sec) Then the RPM's are roughly rising (sometimes the HISSS is followed by small explosions) The car accelerate very jerky and slow ( followed by "explosions") the vibration of the engine is slightly increased since this happened I suspect that one coil is bad since its not original for M50 maybe CPS or bad fuel pump?? is it normal for air to go out of intake manifold (idk but i think that should not happen, maybe the cams are adjusted wrong)?? Thanks in advance.
Don't know. i'm not very good at diagnosing engine problems by the behavior. I just plug in a PC and see from live-data what is happening and what is wrong.

Riippuu mallista. Tuo on ainakin sileä sisäpinnasta, että pitäisi pelata kuten normaali putkikin. Lisäksi jotku menee kurttuun imun voimasta ja pahimmillaan tappaa kaikki tehot. Tuon päällä näköjään kesti jopa seisoa, että jospa tämä ei menisi kurttuun. Tuota ainakin myytiin nimen omaan tähän käyttöön tehdyksi. Joka tapauksessa laitetaan GoPro konehuoneeseen seuraamaan ko. putken käytöstä, että näkee meneekö se ruttuun tai muuta outoa.
Kauempana olevat tapahtumat on aikalailla käymättömiä paikkoja, kun ei oo traileria tai muutakaan millä vois tuua vehkeet takaisin jos sattuu leviämään joku paikka palasiksi.

I forwarded this vid a little bit. so I am not sure if you have show it already in the prev. videos. are you using the OEM ecu of bmw? if yes. can you tell me what I need to tune the oem ecu? can the oem ecu be tunable for max power? or how much power you can geth max of it? with type of turbo setup of response best with the M50? I like to have big power with low rpm stock internal and very little turbo lag. I don't want turbo lag or to much.
We have KDFI v1.4 in this which is just PnP megasquirt 2. If you have M50 then you at least need eeprom programmer and tuner pro with working XDF files to be able to tune that. But I don't know more about that. Also you could just buy set like this for the stock ECU: www.trmtuning.com/product/e36-obd1-turbo-tuning-package/ With m52 you can tune the stock ms41 ecu really easy with less than 50 bucks investment. If you have e46 I would get m52b28tu or m54b30 duoble vanos engine which those have come from factory. And definitely stay away from ancient m30 engines :D Much more modern engine, it will go in bolt-on and all the car electronics will talk with the ECU. The stock ms42/43 ECUs can be tuned with cheap tools by everyone (videos about that coming soon).

We're now building m50b20 turbo, and we are planning to use kdfi ecu, should i use stock MAF sensor i heard it is better to use MAP sensor instead, or somesay you dont need any of these, u mentioned it in your video, that you will not use speed density as a calculator of fuel. So what would you recommend? MAP sensor would be the best choice ha?
Yes map sensor in speed density mode is the way to go. The MAF could be used, but in KDFI it isn't wired in at all. And also stock MAF is not suitable for turbo setup. Ypu would need much bigger MAF than that and know transfer curve for that. And I would recommend not to use KDFI and build m50 pnp speeduino.

Mek00071 I just hapen to sit at computer currently :D I would stay away from the piggypacks. Those are really needed if you need to for example have all the emission stuff and OBD compliance stuff working and the stock ecu is not tuneable. m50 is so old that there isn't need for such things and you can get standalone for same price.
I have previously worked repairing broken electronics, so I'm pretty sure I know how to solder :D I had to go through soldering tests to be allowed to work as repair man. My soldering tools at the garage are shitty but those will do the job if you know how to use those.

Why did you change the coils? The stock ones can keep up just fine with a lot of boost

tial / turbosmart 44/45 mm wastegates are very good for most tuners. You only need bigger one for crazy big turbo.

m50 vanos or non-vanos? vanos and m52 use same crank pulley. if it's m50 non-vanos, drill new alignment hole for it to match non-vanos one.
