Excellent videos!!! Thank you from Colorado! We fish carp a lot, normally with massive hooks and corn kernels. I haven't used bread for years but intend to use this method on our next outing. Cheers!
Cheers RoccoE4 glad you enjoyed the video :-) Nice to hear from you all the way over in Colorado too!!! :-) Hope your fishing is going well. Cheers Chris.
Bonjour, quand vous pecher au pain, est ce que vous amorcer avec des farines avant? Videos tres instructives, merci. Désolé je ne parle pas tres bien anglais
Great stuff Gerry! That was the second method we were going to use at it looks so good! Glad to hear you caught on it! Glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for taking the time to leave us a comment :-) Good luck with your fishing and tight lines
Hi mate, you can use whatever size punch you want and them simply pick the hook to match. Perhaps a 6-8mm punch with a size 14-16 hook, that should do the job! :-)
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for taking the time to comment! :-) The rod we used was the Daiwa Tournament Feeder Rod. Hope that helps!
Hi, care to share why you had your reel set to rotate in both direction instead of just in the forward direction. I see you controlling the bail with your finger instead of letting the reel drag to do the job.
Hi Steve, have you made the second half of this video? Fishing bread on the method feeder? Would be interesting for me as after a 10 year break from fishing, don't ask....... I am back and new to method feeder fishing. I'd like to see how you adapt it to using bread as bait. I live in Austria now and hope that because the style of fishing over here is a little different I can employ some English tactics to offer the fish something new / different than what they are used to and catch a couple extra fish even when conditions are tough. If you fancy making a European video, I can help with finding the venues and translating for ya! Cheers, Ben
Hi Ben, we haven't made part 2 yet, however I think it's something we'll look at later this year, when the weather cools. Nice to hear from you all the way over in Austria too! Are you fishing for similar species over there? Carp, Tench, Bream etc Haha, thanks for the offer, we'll definetely bare that in mind :-D
Yeah I am fishing the lakes near Innsbruck and Salzburg for the same species as I did in England, Carp, Bream, Roach, Rudd and Perch. But, most of the lakes also have Trout in them, Grayling and Char. There are plenty of Pike and Zander and Sturgeon too although I haven't caught these myself yet. My last session I lost 6 fish, all carp on a waggler setup, fishing quite deep in the shade of a tree, despite the warm weather, I was hoping for some Tench. Anyway, the carp got bigger and bigger but the bites were always very finicky, not typical for big fish. The problem was they kept shaking the hook loose. I think my rod and reel were a bit underpowered as I was expecting single figure Tench not double figure Carp. Is a symptom of a rod that is too soft that you loose lots of fish? Or is it more likely that the hook was simply too small? Thanks again! Ben
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed the video! :-) The punch we used is an old Seymo 'Lunch Punch' I'm not sure if they are still available, but if you do a google search I'm sure it'll bring something up! :-) Am sure any normal punch would do the job if not!
Cheers +Terry Lee glad you are enjoying the videos! No it's not, it's a Daiwa Feeder rod. If you have a look in the video description there's a tackle box link to all the tackle we are using, hope that helps. :-)
Good luck +Zac Postans hope you catch a few fish using it! We haven't done the Bread method yet, however it's something we are still hoping to try! :-)
Nice video, heres' a tip i found out so the bread stays on the hook, and its best to use toasted bread. After taking off the crust round the edges, put the bread in a microwave for about 10 seconds or so until it goes hard (best to start off just for 5 seconds at a time and keep checking it) once its gone nice and hard, roll it with a rolling pin. With this the bread should never come off your hook or hair (especially hair) the only slight drawback is it wont expand in the water, or it will do so but just slowly. I'd like to try this zig rig, how did you make it? cheers.
Curious to know if the hook lengths are guru if so what length? I'm giving this ago in the colder months running up to Xmas... Good idea or not? Thanks as per 😎
I think Steve made the hook lengths himself Anthony. If you click the Tackle Box link in the video description you should find the details. :-) As far as lengths go there's no magic answer... it's all trial and error... obviously all lakes vary in depth. Perhaps start 1ft off the bottom and then increase the length until you find the fish. Definitely a great idea in the colder months! Normally when it's cold there'll be a warmer layer of water where the fish are holding up, if you can find this you can often catch them. For some reason they find it hard to resist the bread, I think it's perhaps because its so easy to eat! Tight lines, cheers.
Hello. I want to try this method. What size is that bread punch you are using? Did you just make that yourself? Can I buy the hair rigs with the quick stop anywhere in the USA? Thank you.
Hi Michael, we used 8mm bread punch on that day, however we like to mix it up, so use anything from 6mm-12mm. If you look in the video description there is a link to a tackle list, that might help. :-)
Hi ivor nappinion thanks for the kind comments and for taking the time to post them, glad you enjoyed the video! :-) They are quite time consuming but we do enjoy making them and will have lots more to come in 2015! Tight lines, cheers.
hi, im from germany and hearing british people talk is really relaxing for my ears :D i am using instead of the bait punch some yarn and just tie it around the bread-bunch. works too specially for non-hair-rigs ;) holds too very good. keep going man :) in germany we call it "Petri Heil!" from angler to angler
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for taking the time to comment, especially all the way from Germany! :-) The technique you mention sounds interesting! Good luck with your fishing and of course, tight lines!
Hi mate not fished my local pond for a year and i went to watch and a few were putting big squares on the hook and were all catching with the bread floating on the surface I tried this but cant get the bread to stay on ,any tips please.
It can be quite a tricky bait to keep on the hook +Geoff Gelder I'd try and use the crusts - there's a bit more substance to a crust when you hook it on. If now try some chum mixers (Pedigree chum) these will float and are alot easier to deal with, can be used in conjunction with a bait band. Hope that helps a little.
Hi didier .b no we didn't we just used the bread on it's own, it's more of a 'zig rig' style way of fishing, so you don't really use feed you just explore the water column to try and find where the fish are sitting. We did wonder about using bread in/on a method feeder to see if it would work or if it would bring better results. Perhaps we'll try that this winter! :-) Cheers
From The Waters Edge TV Hello, thank you for the quick reply.I'll try in wild water(fish pond ).A few carp are in this pond but it's very difficult to catch them!!Felicitations for your work and your videos.Best regards. If you have any advice... ;-)
Just came across your channel I am a relatively new fisher! But very enjoyed it! Glad to see you struggling to get the fish out on the first one ahahaha
Can I just ask: You say at the beginning, "just a normal lead setup, nothing unusual about that". What is a normal lead setup? It can be set a lot of ways???? Is it a free running line running through the lead? Is it on a lead clip tied to a swivel - the same as a standard carp fishing rig? is it just a weight set on the line with shot at either side? Sorry to be a pain. The video is great and very informative, however, that bit you were very brief about and seemingly covered the weight up before we could get a look at it to see. haha. Im sure that wasn't intentional but I'd really like to know how you set it up. Thanks pal, great videos, keep up the good work. Les
Hi Les, no worries at all. The lead set-up that Steve is using utilises a lead clip, like you would if you were carp fishing. I he uses the Guru Lead Clips, as these are designed for match fishing - they're slightly neater and smaller. Hope that helps, tight lines, cheers Chris.
Hi bluesteel2010 we are using a Guru Lead Clip set up, if you google it you should be able to find some details/diagrams about how to use it. Will probably be a lot easier than me trying to explain it! Hope that helps.
karl butler yeah I cannot see why not! However in summer I'd perhaps use a brightly coloured Boilie or piece of foam or something, more similar to how the big Carp boys fish with there Zig Rigs! Hope that helps.
Hi steve, , just a small point, you are using the the Quick stop the wrong way. the right way is to put the needle into the quick stop and then push the point through the bait. works every time.
Hi Ahmed Younis nice to hear from you all the way over in Michigan!! :-) I know, it won't necessarily work on all lakes, but it does on some here in the UK!
Hi Jose, it's a Daiwa match reel. I'm not sure what Steve's using off the top of my head, but if you have a look in the video description there's a link in there to a tackle list, which shows off all the items we are using! :-)
Hi +Laid Back yeah a piece of artificial bread should be fine, I haven't used it personally but I'd definetely be willing to give it a go! Perhaps even soak, or spray it with some sort of flavouring too, really increase it's pulling power! ;-)
+From The Waters Edge TV im back to this vid so ill watch again how do you have the balls to just cast abit off plain bread out? it can come off on the drop and you wouldnt know i caught on the artifical bread and i got snapped off the bread floated as it fake and cadp kept going for it all day i didint snap what happed was a drennan hook snapped in half in a 15lb carp mouth the bread somehow come off as was glued to hook
Because it's just sport Nikita, plus the fish belong to someone and costs lots of money. We don't really tend to eat Freshwater fish in the Uk either, we purely all fish for the love of the sport. :-)
You'll be surprised Terry, in water it swells up into a lovely fluffy ball. It doesn't stay on the hook/hair after any form of bite, but it does stay afloat for a good while.
Great video! It looks like you're using a baitcasting rod with a spinning reel. Not good for the rod, a mismatched set up. Enjoyed the video, be well and fish on! Mark in Oregon, USA.

nice video .I used fresh white crumb on the method last week and had a net full

what size bread punch and what size hook pls. Great vid ! Like the method as you can cast all over the lake as well as margins
Hi mate, you can use whatever size punch you want and them simply pick the hook to match. Perhaps a 6-8mm punch with a size 14-16 hook, that should do the job! :-)
could you please tell me wich kind of rod you use? and of course another great video, keep it up!
We use both the backwind and the drag, it's a personal preference really.
Hi Steve, have you made the second half of this video? Fishing bread on the method feeder? Would be interesting for me as after a 10 year break from fishing, don't ask....... I am back and new to method feeder fishing. I'd like to see how you adapt it to using bread as bait.

I am fishing the at the oaks at Sessay this weekend I will try this with the lakes been frozen this week
Good luck mate, hope you manage a few fish!
Brilliant stuff, can't wait to try this. Now I have to find a proper punch. Where did you buy yours or is it a custom made ?
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed the video! :-) The punch we used is an old Seymo 'Lunch Punch' I'm not sure if they are still available, but if you do a google search I'm sure it'll bring something up! :-) Am sure any normal punch would do the job if not!
nice fish love watching your vids can i just ask is that a mirrox carp feeder rod your using cheers in advance

I'm going to try this, this weekend, did you do the video on Bread on the method feeder? can't seem to find it in your videos
Good luck +Zac Postans hope you catch a few fish using it! We haven't done the Bread method yet, however it's something we are still hoping to try! :-)
Do Rudd every steal your bread? Happened all the time with fishing in NZ
Occasionally Roach and Rudd do, although they're alot more likely to do so in the summer/warmer months.

I'd like to try this zig rig, how did you make it? cheers.
Sounds interesting! :-) We normally fish popped up bread/zig rigs on a standard lead clip set-up.
What about trying this method with a soft/soaked, hair rigged chum mixer...do you think it would work?
Hi +Clive Bindley I'm sure it would do, would definetely be worth trying :-)
Curious to know if the hook lengths are guru if so what length? I'm giving this ago in the colder months running up to Xmas... Good idea or not? Thanks as per 😎

Once you have the bread on the hook, slightly nip the bread near the eye, it will stay on longer and don't movethe bread once you've cast out.
If we put the punched bread directly on the hook not on the hair, wil it work the same?
I think so Tony, you can fish it either way.😊🎣
Hello, did you used groundbait with bread
thanks

If you have any advice... ;-)
What lb main line did you use and breaking line please?
Around 6-8lb.
I am going to use this rig in early October
neil phillips Great stuff Neil, it'd probably work a treat then! Let us know how you get on with it, hopefully you'll bag up!!! :-)
Just came across your channel I am a relatively new fisher! But very enjoyed it! Glad to see you struggling to get the fish out on the first one ahahaha

What's better to fish with pole or rod?
Hi Myers L there's no right or wrong answer, both work on different days, lakes, conditions etc!
Can you explain how you have the lead set up please?
Hi bluesteel2010 we are using a Guru Lead Clip set up, if you google it you should be able to find some details/diagrams about how to use it. Will probably be a lot easier than me trying to explain it! Hope that helps.
What LB line and test curve rod ?
It was a quivertip rod - can't remember the exact weight in oz of the tip though. Line was around 6-8lb.
Interesting method and nice cap. Almost brand new😃
Hahaha! That was Steve's lucky cap, it's since been retired now though. :-D
Does this method also work in the summer?
karl butler yeah I cannot see why not! However in summer I'd perhaps use a brightly coloured Boilie or piece of foam or something, more similar to how the big Carp boys fish with there Zig Rigs! Hope that helps.

Thanks bernie12b I didn't even notice, I'll mention it to Steve! :-) Thanks for the message tho!
From The Waters Edge TV ha yeah i noticed this too it was driving me crazy ;) great video though do you think youll ever do any vids further up north
This should be on the front of RUclips if you are reading this I hope you have a good day
Hi Maladie Kesterson thanks for the kind comments, glad you enjoyed the video! Good luck and tight lines to you too. :-)
Can u fish in the winter
Yeah you can +danz01games although it's colder and often harder to catch! :-)
I don't think this works in Michigan cause the bluegills eat the bread before the carp even sees it.
Hi Ahmed Younis nice to hear from you all the way over in Michigan!! :-) I know, it won't necessarily work on all lakes, but it does on some here in the UK!
use bread balls size of a quarter or a lil smaller mold bread to hook make sure its cpmpressed good and cast out works great
What reel is this
Hi Jose, it's a Daiwa match reel. I'm not sure what Steve's using off the top of my head, but if you have a look in the video description there's a link in there to a tackle list, which shows off all the items we are using! :-)
another good vid guys, but could have been so much better pif you had charged the camera Chris :)
Thanks for the kind comments Simon, glad you enjoyed the video! :-) Haha... I know mate... He blamed me and I blamed him! :-)
Nice video man!
Cheers mate!
can i use artificial bread? also ther are millons off nuisence roach ther like pirranahs and eat your bread off hook

+Laid Back
You obviously didn't land the fish so how do you know it was 15lb.
Anyone can say " I lost a 15lb fish when it snapped me"
Why not keep the fish?
Because it's just sport Nikita, plus the fish belong to someone and costs lots of money. We don't really tend to eat Freshwater fish in the Uk either, we purely all fish for the love of the sport. :-)
Oh ok, thanks for responding
Surprised bread works as a pop up 🤔 presumably it’s because it’s not compressed on at all. Would’ve thought it wouldn’t take too long to sink though
You'll be surprised Terry, in water it swells up into a lovely fluffy ball. It doesn't stay on the hook/hair after any form of bite, but it does stay afloat for a good while.
good video
Thanks Barry Simkins glad you enjoyed it and thanks for taking the time to comment! :-)
Ok, thanks for the info.
I caught a 4 ft carp that was 50 pounds when I was only 5 and I had to reel that thing in! I was freaking out
Really Shannon Higgins that's massive!!! A Carp of 50lb is definitely a fish of a lifetime, especially at the age of 5! a mega achievement! :-)
Cough cough sneeze bullshit
What the fuck you been taking 😳🙄😵😂😂
7:14 well that’s half your bread gone😂
Haha! :-D
Great video! It looks like you're using a baitcasting rod with a spinning reel. Not good for the rod, a mismatched set up. Enjoyed the video, be well and fish on! Mark in Oregon, USA.
The rod is designed for fishing like this, it has a soft tip so you can see bites. The only people that use baitcasters are pike fisherman
Corn or bread?
Both +Yakin'SC :-) We use both on different lakes, at different times of the year etc
+From The Waters Edge TV thanks
12:07.. ow ow ow...
Haha! :-D
Aha, fishing! This is where it's at.
Haha, Of course it is! ;-)
Enjoyed thank you.
jomannhn no worries, glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for the kind comments! :-)
i think it may be time to invest in a new hat lol
Haha, that was a lucky hat! It’s been well and truly retired now tho. 😂
nice!
Cheers +sorin macra :-)
interesting ..thx
No worries Michael.
good
Cheers!
one question
did you wash that hat with a razor blade in the washing machine? 😂😂
Haha... we've not heard that one before! :-D That used to be Steve's lucky fishing hat, had it years, it's since been retired tho! :-)
I think your hat is broken bud
Haha, it was indeed Zak, it used to be Steves lucky hat which has since been retired. (This video is old now, if you watch a few of our newer one's you'll notice it's gone.)

They were in good condition Ted, agreed!
