brilliant stuff Steve, now been fishing for 60 odd years, and youve proved to me that your never too old to learn. now watched all your pole videos, you can stick all the reality TV progs, Ill now be on you and Steve Ringer..from Tez.G. North Wales.
Excellent video. I love this sort of fishing (well, similar stuff, usually on canals. Scratching about). I'll be feeding a couple of lines like this on the canal tomorrow, hoping to get a few skimmers to add to the roach from on my main whip line.
Hi mate, thanks for the kind comments, glad you enjoyed the video! We've never done my canal work, I guess mainly because in Norfolk we don't really have any! Haha! Good luck tomorrow, hope you catch plenty! It can be really rewarding when you really get your swim going and catch fish from many different lines! :-)
Top draw as usual from you lads. I havent been coarse fishing since the beging of December due to weather but have managed to chuck a few lures out for the pike on my local canal to good effect. By the way the camera work was also excellent on this video. Cheers lads.
Thanks Dan, thank you for the kind comments, as the camera man it's always nice to hear positive feedback on that side of the video's, it does take a lot of my time and effort! Haha! Nice work with the Pike, it's always a good time of year to catch a few of them, have you tried 'drop shotting' yet, apparently thats meant to be great fun for predators, especially on canals and such like! Anyway, good luck and tight lines with your fishing!
Hi Tim, glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for taking the time to stop and leave us a comment/feedback, it's always much appreciated. I'm glad it inspires you to get out there and give it a go! :-) Good luck and of course tight lines!!! :-)

Thanks for the kind comment John, glad you enjoyed the video and found it useful, it's always nice to hear positive feedback :-) Tight lines, cheers Chris
I know this is a bit random but at 6:00 I seen you put your top kit on your no3 with your hook still attached to the bottom of your no2 section. surely that is gonna damage your pole with the hook cutting through the carbon?
Haha, good spot that Ryan! I'm not sure why Steve done that, or if it's something he normally does - I know the pole isn't damaged tho, it's still going strong today. (this video was quite a few years ago now)
Haha I just seen him do it an thought that's a bit odd... I wouldn't like to risk it myself... Yeah it's an old one isn't it do love the vids they they are all brilliant an watch over them from time to time... is he making any more? I've seen the latest bread dobbin one that was quality. Cheers for the reply.
From The Waters Edge TV we had a few roach mate well thats what we was targeting and lost a tench no video though because the camera went dead . we should be doing it again next week though connor.
NottinghamFishingShow Good stuff Connor, glad you had a few fish! Shame about losing the Tench though! Will keep an eye out for your video. Cheers Chris
Brilliant stuff, also tried some filming and editing in final cut pro for my own website about coarse fishing. Hope it will be as good as your video's ;)
Reece Sims hi fella some whips are telescopic others take apart main difference is a whips rig is attached by the tip on a connector a pole is elasticated usually between the top 2 sections to the top 3 sections via a bung that the elastic is tied to this slides inside the pole with the elastic coming out of the top section through tip either tied to a standard connector or a Dacron some people use a crows foot but for a beginner a standard or Dacron connector will be fine that's difference fella hope this helps you out tight lines😀
It's a job to say really Neil, in the the winter its key to have a reasonable depth of water though. We fished this peg because it was a channel between two smaller lakes, meaning we could hopefully intercept any passing fish.
Hi Ryan, it allows you to tighten your elastic when you are fighting a fish on your top kit. When you see Steve in the last bit of the fight, you'll see him pull the elastic to tighten it a little. It just gives you more control over a fish etc
superhunter992 The pole is elasticated through the top 2 or 3 sections normally. This is called your top kit, it's what takes the strain when playing a fish. Hope that helps.
Haha... I know!!! Many people have asked us this question, but it's Steve's lucky fishing hat, so he refuses to replace it, however once we hit 1,000,000 views he says he's definetely going too! :-)

Nice one mate! Glad your fishing is going well!
Please add subtitles to your videos .. some of us have hearing damage , but looks like I’d learn a lot .. cheers Roger
I'll see what we can do Roger. (I think you maybe able to add them through RUclips.)
Is there a difference between a pole and a whip ? If so what is the difference ? Thanks
Reece Sims hi fella some whips are telescopic others take apart main difference is a whips rig is attached by the tip on a connector a pole is elasticated usually between the top 2 sections to the top 3 sections via a bung that the elastic is tied to this slides inside the pole with the elastic coming out of the top section through tip either tied to a standard connector or a Dacron some people use a crows foot but for a beginner a standard or Dacron connector will be fine that's difference fella hope this helps you out tight lines😀
hi what camera do you use for your videos thx
hiya mate i live in norwich and was wondering what lake's this is on?
Hi mate, it's actually a private lake I'm afraid! Apologies about that.
Nice vid
Thanks Norfolk Carper! :-) Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for taking the time to comment!
Ps how did you pick your peg I.e what made you choose it any tips would really help first winter season for me thanks guys
It's a job to say really Neil, in the the winter its key to have a reasonable depth of water though. We fished this peg because it was a channel between two smaller lakes, meaning we could hopefully intercept any passing fish.
What does a pull-a-bung do? Thanks
Hi Ryan, it allows you to tighten your elastic when you are fighting a fish on your top kit. When you see Steve in the last bit of the fight, you'll see him pull the elastic to tighten it a little. It just gives you more control over a fish etc
i got a pole just 2 days ago and using this method i caught me personal best a 5 pound bream (I'm only 12 btw )
Nice one mate, glad to hear the fishing is going well!
just spent just under 1k on a new pole and have no idea how too use it thanks for the advice
No worries at all mate, glad you found the video useful. :-) Cheers Chris.
What size hook were you using there? Cheers :)
Hi +Matthew Budden (EnGbudd) I think it was a size 16 or 18, I can't remember now as it was quite a while ago! Cheers Chris
Where is the lake mate?
Hi Michael, I'll speak to Steve as I'm not sure what I'm allowed to say!
keep the hat! never get rid of luck!
Haha, when we hit 1 million views I've told Steve it's a goner! Haha! Altho it may still take a special place in his fishing box! ;-))
onto the next one! 😎 oh and did Norwich win? ha
Haha, thanks Anthony! Hmmmm I'm not sure, knowing Norwich... probably not! :-D Haha.
Not last night they didnt haha nffc
I would love to.
would a carp take a pole section ?
superhunter992 What to eat?! Haha…?! :-/ Sorry, I'm not really sure what you mean?
ur so funny , no i meant keeping the pole at a low angle and the elastic to the bung what is in the first section on the pole
superhunter992 The pole is elasticated through the top 2 or 3 sections normally. This is called your top kit, it's what takes the strain when playing a fish. Hope that helps.
Is it private
Hi mate, yes it is.
i love your videos, but sir can you please get a new hat :)
Haha! I know... Steve won't replace it, it's his lucky fishing hat! However once we hit one million views I've told him it's got to go!! :-)
You should buy a new hat
Haha... I know!!! Many people have asked us this question, but it's Steve's lucky fishing hat, so he refuses to replace it, however once we hit 1,000,000 views he says he's definetely going too! :-)
From The Waters Edge TV 4,295 subscribers
1,004,800 views :D cant wait to see the new hat :D
Haha! It's coming, I've already warned Steve! Haha!
just abit of advice mabe a new hat is required
That was Steve's lucky hat +isaac rush ton but you'll be pleased to hear it's now been retired and replaced with a new one!
i like that accent
Haha, thanks Giedrius Bruzas :-)
