  • Bennett asks the immortal question, "Are you what would be called a glamour-puss?" With Tony Randall and Suzy Knickerbocker on the panel. (Ignore the bit with Wilt Chamberlin at the beginning!)

I know I was just watching a 'famous' woman show up for a late night show interview in tennis shoes and jeans, what a contrast. I won't mention names or RUclips will hide my comment. But its like a lot of the glamour is gone in hollywood.
Always found these older times I never saw, all the politeness and attention to appearance and charming ladies kinda fascinating. As well as the impressive buildings and art before everything became modern cheap and ugly, heh.
People are always so quick to diss them but I think we've lost so much culture

Nowadays, actors and actresses want so badly to become famous and when they do, then they want complete privacy n want nothing to do with the public that made them. Joan indeed did appear on Broadway, starting out as a chorus girl who was quickly spotted for her unusual features and expressive dancing. But Joan's greatest talent may be in making friends. She was a natural at networking all her life. In Hollywood she knew literally everyone and invited literally everyone to her home--not just stars, but technical people, designers, musicians. She knew the names of everyone in the families of those she worked with, such as the lighting guys.

Joan was very tiny! She didn't photograph that; she always seemed tallish. Off the screen she wore hats and toques and turbans to get some height. Though she often comes off as sort of forbidding those who knew her who I know say, no, she was witty, she was funny and she was an extremely loyal and generous friend. She treated her fans like royalty.

Joan was a talented actress, impecabble dancer, and a Real lady. See help make stars like Clark Gable and Fred Astaire. The trash wrote about her is simply disgraceful. And Legend, a true actress, NO ONE Today can hold a candle to Joan. God she loved her public. I strongly recommend people read Joan in her own words. Conversations with Joan Crawford is delightful reading. Joan wanted to be remembered for her talent. and in my mind that is Joan Crawford. God Bless You Joan.

Don't know that Eve Arden was Crawford's "best friend", but another great friend, Myrna Loy dismissed Christina's accusations and stated that she was essentially a spoiled, petulant brat with an axe to grind, and that after working with her on a film set, she wanted to "throttle" Christina herself for her extraordinarily unprofessional and unacceptable behavior. Myrna Loy was one of the classiest women to ever grace the silver screen, and she had great integrity.

Gloria only had one success in sound films and Joan is the most successful actress in classic cinema, with Garbo the same Joan was more successful, and the only one who could surpass Joan is Katherine.
