I lil agree 100% , I’m in New Mexico and this has been one of my favorite bands for about two years . Basically since I’ve heard them . Guys are amazing
This English man from the Lake District played his melodeon and 5 row button accordion under the light house at the butt Lewis in 2011 where I had parked my camper. I entertained a German couple and a young Danish male who was with a girl from Edinburgh who were also camping overnight. The Danish male sang a couple songs while I played. When I set off I went into Stornaway where I purchased smoked mackerel and salmon from a smoke house near the harbour. Your islands are superb and your music is brilliant.
In my youth I dated a very bonnie bonnie & adorable sweet girl from the Isle of Lewis, a Gaelic ( Galik) speaker, she spoke the most beautiful English I have ever heard, I hear it now. I love the culture, the mindset, how content the people of the Outer Hebrides are, they are just so special & they will always have a place in my heart.
A guy at work said to me "listen to these guys, they're right up ur street" so I checked em out nxt day while at the fishing. . Was the best fucking soundtrack I've ever had to a day's fishing 👌 cheers lads 👌
They're great arent they? haha makes me proud to be a descendant of Clan Bruce! ALBA GU BRATH!!! Haha was listening to Tide Lines Heroes the songs amazing!!! Like the foundations of Clan Donald (Domhnaill in Gaelic founded on Islay which is mentioned in this song haha, hence John of Islay Bloody Bay and all that lol) heck I love being celt!!!
Same! My ancestors are a branch of the clan Campbell with surname Crever. What branch clan are we, why can't I find out about our history? There has to be more of us who are not lost in a foreign land called America that knows and may help us find our roots. 😢
You really should go. I've been all over Scotland, and the Isle of Lewis is still my favorite place. If you like rural, down-home, salt-of-the-earth people you will love it. I cherish that place.
Outstanding song and video! I'm sad to say the Jersey Shore has never had a song like this. Not even Springsteen wrote a song about our islands. Cheers from Wildwood, New Jersey, USA 🍻
Are you from the Isle of Lewis Or is it the hills of Harris? Are you from the North of Uist Or is it the Isle of Skye? Are you from the Isle of Barra, Eigg, Muck, Rhum or Canna? Are you from the rocky waters of the Hebrides? Oh, this is my island Oh, this is my island From the Port of Nis right through the Minch until the end of time Oh, this is my island Oh, this is my island We feed the sheep and cut the peats until the day we die Are you from the Isle of Arran, Raasay, Islay, Jura, Mallaig? Are you from the Sound of Mull or could it be Tiree? Are you from old Skerryvore or is it the Old Man of Storr? Are you from the rocky waters of the Hebrides? Oh, this is my island Oh, this is my island From the Port of Nis right through the Minch until the end of time…
As a Scot on the Isle of Man I really appreciate the sentiment of this song. I love this island I'm on but at the same time I can't wait to finally get back "home".
Epic tune. It rings true to the people of West Cornwall as well. I work at sea with a lot of Hebrideans - such wonderful characters. Looking forward to coming back up and sinking a few Guinness' with some MacKinnons
Let me no were I sign up to see yous guys play, av followed bands like pink Floyd, and a would certainly follow yous and also no many others who would as well. Keep blowing us away with your music 🎶
Fantastic song/video ! ! I'm familiar with most of the scenes as my mother and bro are former NISSACHS (lived in Port of Ness for years). Dec 3rd 2021....Leeds Brudenell will be absolutely BANGIN' ! ! !
Tremendous. Scotland is incredible, I love the ruggedness of the place and the rich history. . What I'd give to be right there in the midst of that vid. Oh, great song too.
Absolute class band! Inspired by other island bands so to speak such as "The Vatersay Boys" from Barra etc ..... But hey these guys took the jump when it came, fair play 👌 aka "The Scottish Pogues" 😁
Just seen these guys at The Brudenell’s Leeds, I used to live in Ness, Lewis and their tunes took me back home again. WHAT A BAND AMAZING LIVE. Spoke to Boydie outside lovely bloke thank you!!!!
Peat and deasil are an amazing band different from any other band I've heard songs of their homeland Lewis is a truly amazing place spent a week on a walking holiday up there a few years back scootered up from nairn to Ullapool ferry to Stornoway then stayed in back lovely cottage the beaches and the scenery is second to none hopefully go back when this pandemic has passed and cycle round the island a dream of mine for a long time good luck peat and diesel great bunch of down to earth lads your beautiful island people must be very proud of you hope to see you live one day
Heard the band on a recent visit to Scotland and came home to check out all the albums and videos; really love your music! And you are so right about the magical, stunningly beautiful islands. Fell in love with the whole country and very much want to return some day.
Just back from visiting Stornoway (and meeting the lads on the ferry back) and will 100% be back for Luskentyre beach and Crust pizza alone. Scenery is UNBELIEVABLE
Was in Inverness having a drink with my wife in the Highlander bar, they had a trad duo playing and this song started with a different guy in the guitar that happens to be in this band, i looked it up and here it is Peat and Diesel you rock🤘
Just saw you guys in Manchester when you were opening for Gogol Bordello. This song was my favourite. It got me all emotional. Well done guys. It was great to see you!
Did a pannier tour 2 years ago all through the Hebrides and totally loved them ❤. Spent some time in Stornoway and wish I had heard of Peat and Diesel then and this song as I would have listened to it on the headphones 🎧 all day
@Panthera Metal To be perfectly honest, I haven't had a chance yet.. one winter week back in the early 2000s spent on Skye's Trotternish peninsula is as close as I have come until now...back then we had the full range from strong winds all the way to fully-grown gales, every single variety delivered with a nice side order of rain, sleet or snow ... but I am sure the weather out in the Western Isles is even closer to the real things, isn't it?
@user name hi.. please accept my apologies for the delayed answer. I did watch a few videos showing the winter weather out there...and still have no idea whether you are trying to keep people away from the islands or actually are advertising... maybe it's a serious case of "the grass is always greener on the other side", but given the weather here on the continent the winter gales seem rather tempting than anything else... A friend of mine did spend a winter on the Waternish peninsula and had indeed hunt down the shed's roof several times as it got ripped off by the wind and the rain did some terrible things to the fence posts allowing her horses to enjoy a walk in the various neighbors' gardens, but she reported to never have felt more alive before.
@user name Thanks for pointing out who is actually doing all those videos. That idea of yours (go and explore yourself) is sgoinneil, but a few days ago I finally had to cancel my June/July trip to Stornoway (preparation started in last year's October, but I missed to make my plans virus-proof). Now with all the covid-19 related restrictions and cancellations in place there's simply no way to come over for a fortnight (at least not until late summer or autumn)... But I will gladly adopt your advice and have a look myself as soon as I find an opportunity. Stay safe and stay healthy.
@user name thanks for your advice. I did plan to come over by motorcycle (a vintage wee beemer from the mid-fifties)...I am not afraid of liquid sunshine ;-). And I will keep in mind your recommendation... local beer and guga would also be on the "definitely to be tried" list, I assume?
im a cockney from London.....this is the best band ive heard for bloody years !!!!!! well done lads your the best
I lil agree 100% , I’m in New Mexico and this has been one of my favorite bands for about two years . Basically since I’ve heard them . Guys are amazing

This song makes me homesick for an island I’ve never visited!

As a Scot on the Isle of Man I really appreciate the sentiment of this song. I love this island I'm on but at the same time I can't wait to finally get back "home".
As a Manxman in Shetland I know the feeling! Seeing P&D tonight though
New fan here, I saw you on the Romesh show :)

I LOVE how you randomly put a photo of the band Skerryvore in there instead of the lighthouse! 😂❤️ great tune!
That shot of the Butt of Lewis lighthouse is pretty incredible eh?
Also Skerryvore cracks me up every time.
I saw its light from my window and heard the foghorn too as a kid.
Quarantined in France, missing the dark heathers of Trotternish... Cheers to Peat and Diesel!
Such a great song - keep doing what you do lads - keep it real, it's what we love
City boy from Edinburgh, who fell in love with the Hebrides a long time ago. GREAT song, and many happy memories. I need to get back there.
