Hey Steve. I'm from N. Ky/ Cincinnati area. You was asking about the round buillding by the 71/75 Bridge crossing the Ohio river in to Cincinnati . That is in fact a hotel. Use to be Quality Inn. Now its the Radison Hotel Very old but great building built in 1957. THE very top of it is a revolving restaurant. Yea, revolving. Takes 45 min ish to complete a turn. Stay safe. When I was driving I would have the engine brake on most of the time so I didn't have to turn it on every time I wanted to use it. Different strokes for different for I guess 😄
31:25 Yes, that's a hotel and it actually rotates so every room gets a view of the Cincinnati skyline and the riverfront.
It's been there for a long time, since the 70's.
Only the top portion that is a restaurant rotates. The rest of the building does not.

Hi Steve. Another great video. I am always impressed by how you keep your cameras coordinated. So, we can see a vehicle gaining on you in the passing lane and you switch views in editing to show same vehicle passing you. I am sure that takes a lot of time. One more comment about the round hotel you passed. St Louis MO used to have a similar structure originally named Stouffer's Riverfront Inn. It also had a revolving restaurant on the top floor. My wife and I spent our honeymoon there. It changed ownership and has been closed for a number of years. You may have driven past it as many truckers I've watched on RUclips, cross the Mississippi River on what is now called The William L Clay Sr. bridge. It was the Poplar Street bridge when I crossed many times in the 70's.
Steve, I don't know about you, but every time I think about Cincinnati, I remember the trucking bozo. May he be at peace, that man did so much for the industry and I for one do not 5hink he got nearly the recognition he deserves. Now as far as your idea for the 12v71, I would love to see how you build that truck even if you show the process after you unveil it.

Steve, I used to live in Cincy. You went past my exit almost at the end of this video. I took the exit for Queen City Pkwy. I liv d up that hill about 2.5 miles on the left. It was a very interesting place, but when I moved to NC, I’ve never looked back!!

I'd watch the series on that project regardless of which order you decide to release it in, but I'll agree with the people that told you to do the reveal first. Frontloading the hype like that should give you bigger viewership numbers as opposed to relying on people trickling in, and you'll have the build videos ready to release on a more viewable schedule.

Hey Steve. Enjoy the channel and discussion of heavy haul. Can you talk about the transmission and shifting when get a chance? ( non truckers here). Don’t see any clutch action but do see you moving through the gears. (Not sure). Regards
I know it's a 13spd transmission, i just don't remember what kind.
Steve has mentioned what it is on multiple occasions in other recent videos.
On a manual transmission you don't need to use the clutch to change gears, at least after first gear far as i know.
It's called floating gears.
Wiki does a better job explaining than i could.
Technique:
After bringing the engine up to speed in a gear, the driver senses the need to upshift.
To get out of the current gear without using the clutch, the driver backs off slightly on the accelerator and gently pulls the gear stick toward the neutral position.
If they back off enough, a moment comes when the engine is neither driving the car nor being driven by the car; at that moment the stick moves freely, and the transmission "effortlessly" shifts out of gear.
Next, to get into the chosen higher gear without using the clutch, they back off on the accelerator a little more and gently push the gear stick toward the chosen higher gear.
A moment comes when the engine RPMs has decreased enough to synchronize that chosen gear; at that moment, the transmission "effortlessly" shifts into that gear.
To shift down, the driver similarly backs off on the accelerator and "falls out of" the current gear, but then pushes a little harder on the accelerator to increase the RPMs enough to match and allow them to "fall into" the chosen lower gear.
1:17 Here in the video if you pay attention to the sound of the engine, you can tell he went at least a gear higher than intended, that or it was a much steeper incline than it looks on camera. Verses 23:15 where it's much smoother.
I myself drive a 5spd manual transmission and on occasion use this method.
Pros and cons:
Float shifting can reduce clutch wear because it is used so much less (only for starting from a standstill).
Conversely, improper engagement of a gear (when the engine and transmission speeds aren't matched) can cause wear on the synchros and lockouts, and damage the gears by physically grinding them together due to a difference in speed.
Float shifting can take a little longer because of the short wait for the engine RPM to match. < Why i said on occasion.
When going down a steep enough hill in 5th gear, i drop it down to 4th and let the engine and transmission slow my vehicle without needing to use the brake to slow down.

Oh yes, North Carolina is a great place to live, as I experienced back in the mid to late 1970's. If your car insurance lapsed for even one day, your vehicle registration & license plates were immediately cancelled. It happened to me while I was in the USMC. My unit was deployed overseas, because of the rising potential of us needing to evacuate US Citizens, our mission was extended for an additional 71 days. I called the NC DMV as soon as I was able, explained it to them & offered documentation that I was protecting our country & it's citizens. They didn't care. So I had to get a Taxi to drive me all over town, and pay additional cash for new reg & Plates. Nice huh? Sorry this is so long!
@@DarkFlamage I can vouch for that NC don’t play around with insurance issues.. we all are just a number.. I just meant that besides all the normal BS the 27 years i have lived here it is way better than southern Maryland I grew up in. Now the DC area has become a putting it lightly a cesspool.

That TA is the last place I parked a truck. Hadn't been feeling good for days, dropped my trailer there and bobtailed to the hospital. Spent a week in ICU and 2 operations. Obstructed small intestine. Wife came down and drove us home to Jackson Mi. Luckily the truck the owner drove was down so he could come pick up the truck and keep it rolling.

It was called the Clarion it is a hotel with restraunt on top . The restraunt is on a slowing spinning floor so the can see a 360 view while eating!

But I think you’d get more views if Orwell had nice Aluminum or Painted Rims, Polished Rims and Gas Tanks , 7” Straight Pipes no more muffler , paint job and redone interior. To me that’s what draws me to trucks more. Its the looks and exhaust; especially when your using the Jakes.
But it’s your truck and. Motor. You can do what you want with them.
I love the videos and definitely support the anti woke. However, Hershey and Reese are the same company. I handle all Hershey accounts in the US. Most of the plants are right in Hershey, PA. If you come this way, it’s well worth your time to stop in to see the town.
Building the truck first and showing the build after is no different than going to a truck show and seeing the build pics next to the finished product. What ever you decide, I'm here for it. I was hoping the buzzin dozen would find a home under the ford cab, but another truck...🤔

Might be a daft question but why do you leave the truck on a fast idle when you jump out to get food or when you get fuel, does it help with cooling or something? I can understand in winter or when you’ve just started to get it up to temperature.
Also do you not worry about someone jumping in and making off with Orwell when you leave it running. Wouldn’t leave the truck open in the uk it’d be gone straight away😂

I am noticing a lack of Cab Over Engine trucks on the road compared to the "nose" trucks. This makes Orwell unique.
Release the videos as you film them mate. After releasing the type vehicle you are going to put the engine in. This will make the fan's feel closer to the build,instead of after the fact, That's my two bobs worth anyways. Keep them coming Steve.

Like a few people in the comments said the round building is a Raddison hotel. We have a round building like that here in NJ on the east bound side of rt80 just as you come outta Paterson and cross over into Bergen County. When I was a little kid back in the 1970’s it was a Howard Johnson’s with the restaurant on the top then in the mid 80’s it became a Holliday Inn and then sometime in the early 2000’s it closed , not long ago it was brought remodeled and is now a Crown Plaza. Been watching your channel for a while and I’d like to say thanks , your videos give me flashbacks of spending most of my 5th , 6th , 7th and 8 grade grammar school summers on the road with my father , he drove for Bekins Moving & Storage out of Carlstadt NJ. Dad passed in January of 2020 and watching your videos brings me back to those days , damn I miss those days !!

aren't you scared for fuel theft? In Europe all tanks are locked because of people pinching it at night when the driver's asleep.
That is a hotel and on top is a Totating restaurant, lived in Northern Kentucky for over twenty years and never Been there my wife and her family have and it pretty cool ,rotates very slow but noticeable.
So is the other RGN trailer that you have this unfinished is it got a bigger well than the one that you have if it is bigger than the one that you have I'd worry about getting it done so if you decide to use the chapel truck to pull it every once in awhile and let or we'll get things you know get things done on Orwell when Orwell needs to go into the shop or into the shop for something that would be more feasible or have your welder fixes trailer that you have while the other one is out on the road with you just a suggestion love your content always
