So its a where to shade video showing you how I decide where to put shading on tattoo designs and flash. This is just an example done on some old school roses so if you want to see more just let me know what you would like to see me shade! Thanks for watching and don't forget to drop me a like! Thanks

    Cheers from a crossed the pond mate. In my experience tattooing in the beginning I had far more questions than answers and more often than not when I asked people I'd get a snap 'get an apprenticeship' response instead of any kind of artistic knowledge in return. Its nice to see someone taking the time to share some basic artistry. Keep it up sir.

    Finally a video that someone knows how to explain simple details with shading. More ppl show how to do while tattooing it then just simply explain it then show how to do it like this guy. Simple and easy! Ppl always have to be technical. Good video bro

    The amount of people whining about light sources actually make me want to laugh. This is a tattoo design, not realism. Look at the harshness of the roses lines and how he mentioned not to shade the edges so the rose keeps its overall shape. Don't try schooling someone based off a single image. Tattooing is often about stylization not just realism. That's why he put "Techniques For Tattoo Designs" It's not how to draw a rose, it's how to draw this /style/ of rose.

    • @Nick889999
      @Nick889999 8 лет назад +4

      Besides tradional, every single tattoo is gonna incorporate light sources you idiot lol. New school, realism, black and grey etc. all incorporate light sourcing, or else your tattoo will not make any sense when it's looked at.

    light source is important if your going to sell or do professional art, but if your just drawing then it really doesn't matter, but for a finished drawing light source helps you get the lights, darks and grays when drawing. it takes allot of practice, to some it just comes easy. if you are wanting to get spot on with shading having a light source helps.

    "light source" lol. I am a professional concept artist and I say fuck light source for tattoos. Design work doesn't always need accurate lighting, but lighting that complements the design. Save "light sources" for realism or portraiture because accurate light sources in design looks like shit 90% of the time. Light behaves a certain way with no regard for design. Why do you think so many logos and graphic designs don't have any shading?

    Mate carpet inspires me to draw I'm not even joking haha...I was in a pub on Wednesday and you know those weird patterned carpets they have to hide all the beer stains? Keep up the great work, dude!! Respect to those who pass knowledge on. If that were not the case, progression would slow tremendously. What you're doing here is important, especially to those of us who find that sharing techniques are a building block of progression of the art and craft of tattooing overall. To the haters, just stop drawing then, or flip your BS elsewhere. People who share what they love, and are nice enough to do it, don't need your troll spew.

    I've seen line work that incorporates the use of blue and red pencils.. is there a reason for that or am I just looking way to into it?

    • @z10n0v4
      @z10n0v4 10 лет назад +2

      In animation and illustration, the use of a non-photo blue pencil is standard. The reason is that the pencil will not be picked up when scanned/photocopied. Also, it is far easier to do a rough sketch with a lighter color(red), do refining in a darker or contrasting color(blue), and then the final linework in black. This makes it far easier to keep track, as when all your rough sketch lines are the same color it tends to make it more chaotic to refine and keep track of which lines you want to keep and which need to be removed.
