I try to avoid overdoing it with oils or butters because I don’t want any white residue buildup in my hair. And I find that my hair usually doesn’t need it. Are you currently loc’ed?
@elayseah3875 thank you for responding..Yes;I am 9 months locd,semi freeform..I oil my scalp and locs once a month,using olive oil..I heard some say if you don't oil your locs will break,hence I asked.
