Hello Alex, great video as always! Another 'workflow idea' I would really like to know your opinion about: As the timeline does not actually contain a 'grouped clip' where you can easily choose another angle in multicam mode, I always add a manual made multicam group on V2. The easiest way to do this is by using a SMART BIN, where you can combine all takes (as the project is layed out in bins based on camera number and not takes). In the smart bin, I always make a multicam group, and add it on the existing timeline. Is this how you would do this too, or do you have another workflow for having actual multicam clips instead of 'regular' cuts? Wouldn't it be great the project would contain an actual multicam group, instead of clips? This would give us not only trimming (which is already fantastich offcourse) but also choosing other camera angle). Kind regards, Thomas
I had to learn this all by myself 2 years ago. One thing I couldn't figure out is, and please get me a solution for this 🙏 my question is as follows. How can I have the atem mini pro iso file - cut page sync bin in the edit page? It is so annoying to go back and forth from the cut to the edit page when you work with a 2 hour podcast, I need a way how to insert the angels on the edit page from the timecode sync bin (multicam is not the solution because you can't make different layers and colors and it gets extremely complicated when you add additional layers with supporting footage)
Really enjoy the channel! My question is a bit of the subject of this video but it does pertain to the Atem Mini Pro. When I have my Atem connected to my network and I'm using streamyard should I be able to see the cameras without connecting via the usb.
To add on to this, you can do the same with fusion effects, for example a circular mask for PiP. The only difference is once you have all your clips selected in the fusion tab, you then click center mouse button on the clip with the effect and it copies that effect to your selected clips. Just learned this today for a video podcast edit!
As always great video. Suggestion for even easier to globally adjust multi-cam clips. In Color make sure you can see the window "sizing - input sizing" With this window you can make local or remote adjustment by right clicking on the thumb nail and selecting "Copy local grades to remote" Color gives you a lot of adjustments right there without having to pick color or do any button pushing..... just make the adjustment to one clip and all instances of that angle get the same adjustment and you are done.
Thanks so much Jimmy! Glad you found it helpful 👍 I know what you mean about DaVinci… but I’ve got to say once you do get the hang of it… it’s a breeze :)
Hi Alex, thanks for all you do. your tutorials has made me more productive and qualitative over the years. Keep it going bro. I have a quick Atem/ Davinci question. I know on the Cut page, the ISO recorded timeline can be substituted with the BRAW versions, but what if I have mixed cameras where I am utilizing Blackmagic cameras and a couple of other non BM brand cameras but shooting in their respective native log. Does such log files get substituted onto the timeline as well like the BRAWS?
Thanks for this great Video. I am in the process of upgrading my laptop which means I can move to Davinci. I have the extreme ISO and really want to speed up my video editing. Looking forward to the next one.
Hey, hope this video (and the future ones) help speed up your workflow :) You’ll love the ISO with DaVinci… it’s completely changed the way I create video in the last year 👍
Hey Alex. Great stuff, and the Atem ISO / DVR workflow is a revelation once mastered. One thing, You might reconsider using the QNAP Hybrid Back up. Automating primary backup is a bad idea. It needs to be airgapped and triggered manually. If it’s automated there is a very real risk of backing up the problem itself. Speaking from the experience of copping a ransomware attack, using an automated backup would have been catastrophic. Back up manually, only when you know you are solid. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for the comment :) Good point about the air gapping. I actually using HBS in manual mode as you’ve suggested to backup to an external hard drive regularly :) Definitely a good point you make about doing it automatically! PS, I love Leica cameras for photography! We should chat, as I’ve always be interested in testing /featuring one on my channel :)
Can you save a preset that sets the clip colors when you start working on the videos? It would be nice to not have to do it every time you do a multicam.
I'm curious if this will work with text you add to your clips? I review food, and sometimes in my videos I add a score to the screen, then later in the video I may add a score to the next food item, would this technique work with that text so it postitioned in the same spot on different clips?
Color | Chapter 139 Grade Management 3076 To suspend linking by creating a new remote version: 1 Move the playhead to the clip you need to alter individually. 2 Do one of the following: - Choose Color > Grade Version > Add (Command-Y). - Right-click the thumbnail in the Timeline, and choose Remote Versions > Create New Version. - Using the DaVinci control panel, press ADD VERSION on the T-bar panel. 3 Grade the new version that’s appeared.
Im shooting with 3 c70s, is there a way I can easily replace the ISO recordings with my full quality footage? Is there anything weird I could have to do like hit record on all the cams at the same time and as the atem so they line up?
Hi Billy, you'd have to find a way to extract timecode from the ATEM Mini, and send it to all of your cameras. Then hit record on the ATEM & Cameras. Even then, I'm not 100% sure it would work as nicely as it currently does with BM cameras. Unfortunately for now, BM are very much locking this workflow down for their cameras only
@@AlexPettitt I was thinking I could inject audio timecode into the stem mic inputs then sync it that way but unfortunately I couldn’t just replace the clips in the program with those high quality feeds. Unfortunate. I hope they work something out
Actually, all that you need to do is to select 'Open in Timeline' in the Multicam Edit. then you will see all the cams in separate tracks. Any adjustment will be for the whole cam.
@@lamlo That is correct. Which is why I usually record all tracks and create a new multicam sequence. I have to do the edit again but the overall flexibility makes that worth it.
@@sovereignmedia1885 If that is the case, that you record all the camera angles separately, is there really a benefit to using the ATEM when it doesn't create a multicam sequence? Wouldn't it be better just to timecode all the separate camera angles?
@@huyked I do that when I record in 4k. Hitting one record button and having a single project containing all files with correct timecode for HD is much simpler.
@@mjpucher My apologies for not understanding what you mean exactly. Do you mean you like doing each camera with sync timecode, and then you manually sync the timecode? Or are you saying you like the way Atem Mini Pro ISO makes "one timeline with all of the cuts pieced together", different from multi-cam in the Edit page (vs. Cut page)?
It's real shitty that the Resolve project doesn't create a multicam timeline, so that each cut made live would be a new angle in the Resolve timeline..
The only real problem with Davinci is that it requires a very powerfull computer to edit without hiccups all the time. I'll stick to the light Cyberlink power director untill I can afford a real expensive computer. Still Iso recording is fantastic because I mainly do recording (and sometimes live broadcast) of live events and after live switching at the event, I then only need to correct little mistakes in post production which saves an extreme amount of time in the office :) Even though I cannot use the Atem created davinci file, the iso recordings all start at the same time so there is no need to sync. When loaded into the timeline they are already in sync. Still as both davinci and power director files are text readable I am considering trying to create some converter script. However that takes a lot of analyzing time. so much to do, so little of time :)
Hi Alex! Thanks for sharing this. I do all my tutorials with the ATEM MINI ISO EXTREME and developed a kind of fast workflow with this. Are your interested in doing a collaborative video on this topic? I'm talking project naming, audio synching, lesson creation, lesson templates creation, coloring, recording mistake "markers",... Just let me know and we can arrange a call to talk about the possibilities! All the best from Austria! Martin

I have been waiting for chroma key layers to save still in the davinci files. 1 year later and they still don't.
