No one is greater than Buck Dharma. He could lead any group. I just saw them 3 weeks ago and they played, played and played. Bloom is the master, Buck can shred like no other
I met Buck many times and he has always been real cool! I even sang karaoke with Buck in the lounge. I sang Born to be wild and Buck gave a high 5 after my performance.
KIX is Sooooooooooooooooooooo underappreciated. The Best live act . You are welcome Brett Michaels for you "Entire" stage show. KIX played a gig in LA back in the 80's where Michaels' attended a KIX show and literally stole Steve's entire show as well as KIXs' show. Don't take my word for it, look it up.
You rock, Buck! Your band wrote some incredible songs, and on the road, from 1976 to 1978, you pioneered the absolute best live shows using your incredibly expensive lasers that sent everyone home with temporary blindness!!! Sandy should have sent those lasers on the road with Romeo Void, back in the 80's. Rest in Peace, Sandy. Thanks do much for the music, Buck!
I just bought the set the other day and it arrived in the mail today. I haven't played any of it yet, but I'm interested to see how the remaster of the albums went, I think they remastered all of the albums for this box set.
I met BOC three times, the second time got their autographs on my Agents of fortune LP, still have it. Buck, bring BOC back to SW Florida we would love to have you here again in either Fort Myers or Cape Coral, we want you back
A time for metal, a time for rock, a time for lyricism, a time for the epic, and a time for a rendezvous of all of those things. Thanks boys, for all your effort and energy. True artists. True rockers.
BOC Secret Treaties: One of the greatest LPs of all time! I wish Buck and Eric would consider doing it end-to-end live. Richie can sing the Bouchard Bros songs - and yes I'm dead serious.
When I was looking for more full episodes it did pop up that you can purchase an entire season or I believe $14.99. It's too bad that VH1 Classic had to be renamed to MTV classic and that Metal Show was canceled. I love the show and watched it faithfully.
I consider him one of the '75%' best. He is an amazing player, but some drawbacks like ..often slightly out of tune in live settings. Buck Dharma I would put at '95% best', very rarely out of tune or out of time, sings, and has some of the most amazing solos if you know which songs to listen to.
If you liked the way Jake was playing here.... you would be absolutely amazed at what fine renderings guitar center has on any given weekend .... You must check it out!
11:32 That Black and Blue tour show in Detroit was very memorable, it was on my birthday, everyone and their sister were getting high, we shot down to the front row when the warm up band was on which was a local band called Adrenalin, we got to slap hands with Dio a couple times.
Buck is one of the best in rock history. Loves Jimi..great singer. We agree on a helluva a lot. Coolest intelligent nice guy. I consider him a friend known him since 78 I've seen BOC 50xs and hang out when possible and get into great conversations. Thee Best
That metal show still remains as the best show ever in the history of vh1 and vh1 classic. I feel bad that metal show on vh1 classic got canceled. Good luck that metal show and bring it back.
"From New York City. The Amazing Blue Oyster Cult." They may not be amazing every night, but they never suck! I've seen them so many times and always a great show.👍👍🤘👍👍🇺🇲
I saw Kix at the Bayou in DC. Awesome. Bought Midnight Dynamite album. The opening act, Rumble Street, was phenomenol too. Shout out to Bruce Katsu from Rumble Street, incredible guitar player.
So the hosts and Kix are blown away by Jake E Lee...and Buck Dharma is like mildly interested and thinking about what he could do with it. The privilege of 50 years of expertise! :-)
On my god! I saw blue oyster cult in Sprinfied Va at Jaxx club. It was fantastic!! Darma was totally staring at me the whole time I felt like he was one of the best players I've ever seen
I've never heard anyone call BOC stoner rock. Some probably do, idk it's a bastardized term. I think they are their own genre. Just the eclectic sound, brilliant songwriting and influences it's impossible to put them in a genre. You can only speak in descriptions. Perhaps something like occult acid rock with prog and goth elements. Still does not quite suffice. Thats what makes them so cool and legendary. Everybody has their own definition of BÖC.
I would have to agree; BÖC isn't really "metal". They have some cool psychedelic stuff mixed in with unique rock, it's definitely like nothing I've heard before.
And their manager coined the phrase HEAVY METAL. they are metal it's just not in every song. Imagine that, a band that has multiple singers and multiple styles. It's called talent.
Pink Zeppelin Cult I would say it's not 80's metal it's pre NBWOHM metal. Hard rock with a dark edge. To me thats what defined true metal from crap like poison and Bon Jovi. Metal has an inherent darkness to it, and thats one of its defining characteristic. BOC with songs about drug deals going bad, MC clubs, "my heart is black and my lips are cold" come on that's metal. But agree BOC are early era and are influenced by all kinds of music. The psyche era definitely impacting the sound but this is part of what makes them so cool. And the music is ripe with humor and ingenious lyric writing seen in very few bands, thanks to all the outside people who helped make this group what it was to become. Folks like Metzer, Pearlman. Smith, Moorcock and the list goes on.
The man himself said they’re not really a “metal band.” They truly pre-date what most would recognize as “metal.” Listen to some of their old stuff and they’re definitely an East Coast product of the San Francisco scene. They were the quintessential “hard rock” band and are frequently critically described as “blues rock.” This is not to say BoC lacks metal elements or metal songs, but they are both proto-metal and beyond metal. They’re a “rock-and-roll” band.
About Eddie Trunk's Rant . . . he is wrong. There are other genres of music that got their names from the way they looked or by their fashion eg. Glam Bands, Glitter Bands.
CDs are way superior to any MP3 downloads! CDs have a signal to noise ratio of over 105 db on average. Suoer audio CDs have a dynamic range of over 120 dB! Long live CDs!!!
I love these guys, I loved this show, and I usually can handle some of their insight, although Eddie's opinions lately sound more like an old man who doesn't get it as opposed to the industry insider that he is. Great example that all 3 of them agreed on- when talking about the comeback of vinyl, they all 3 shook their heads with a resounding NO, vinyl is NOT coming back. Well...... guess what guys, vinyl is pretty strong right now. is it "back" as it was previously? Of course not, but yep, it made quite the comeback and at least here in the Midwest it shows no signs of slowing down. The last few record shows I've been to have been packed like that were back in the late 80's into the early 90's. For instance, my band put out our latest recording last year, and for the first time in over 25 years I've been consistently asked Dif and when we are releasing it on vinyl. pretty cool. It's here to stay for a while again.
I don't think Black Sabbath were even heavy metal in the 70s, they became heavy metal later with Ronnie James Dio, really Judas Priest is the first real heavy metal band I think.
We decided after to many Rock Concerts Guero Choco and Me to name it Heavy Metal due to the guitar strings then we told everyone in California instead of saying we going to a Rock Concert we going to a Heavy Metal Concert then everyone started defining the difference from Rock to Heavy Metal that was in South Gate California the old great days!
I know technology has made some industries better, but not music. If illegal downloading wasn't so prevalent , it would be ok. but not only is the "packaged product" dying, but now music is stolen like crazy!!! the internet has totally fucked music
Illegal down loading really only fucks the record labels who have been fucking bands for ever.Touring is where the artists make money. And if you are a new band that actually has something to offer, then your fine. There is only 7 notes in music..so trying to come up with new riffs and licks is pretty much useless...that's what killed rock.
No one is greater than Buck Dharma. He could lead any group. I just saw them 3 weeks ago and they played, played and played. Bloom is the master, Buck can shred like no other
I couldn't agree more.
Both are severely under-appreciated guitarists.
Don is my favorite. The End
Thank you for uploading this
I'm seeing them again next year, outdoor show..
Please bring this show back! Eddie said he’d do it, and I’m sure the other guys would be up for it
I met Buck in Austin in the parking lot of the old Armadillo; 1980; I still have his autograph .
Met Buck a couple times. A real class act. Nice guy.
His Autograph?! Wow. You've gotta be the most important guy EVER.
I met Buck many times and he has always been real cool! I even sang karaoke with Buck in the lounge. I sang Born to be wild and Buck gave a high 5 after my performance.

i miss this fing show. Im 22 and this is what id watch with my dad growing up
Isn't it crazy that it doesn't even seem that long so?
BOC and Kix are both criminally underrated bands
You rock, Buck! Your band wrote some incredible songs, and on the road, from 1976 to 1978, you pioneered the absolute best live shows using your incredibly expensive lasers that sent everyone home with temporary blindness!!! I just bought the set the other day and it arrived in the mail today. I haven't played any of it yet, but I'm interested to see how the remaster of the albums went, I think they remastered all of the albums for this box set.
Did you notice Jake E lee throw the BOC tribute lick "stairway to the stars" right before the first break after Buck interview.
I noticed that as well. :-)
Fuckin amazing song
I missed it, but I'll rewatch. Good observation!
Yeah, but it wasn't played very well.
@@sunjester8254 but it was played! Giving props to one of the greatest groups, which is very cool. BOC typically overlooked by most

“It’s all hype, vinyl isn’t making a comeback....” Famous last words. Vinyl is here to stay!🎧
Yes it is! I collect both vinyl and cds. I like having a physical product!
Vinyl outsold CD’s in 2022, 41 million to 33 million.

ST has some great songs but a lot of filler.
Richie is a talent, but his lead vocals do not really fit. He's best composing, playing instruments and providing background vocals.
Geez... I can't believe I watched this episode live when it was released and that was , like, 8 years ago!
That Metal Show was a great hang!
Rock on!😎
Buck is so cool
My first concert was Kix in 1984, lots of fun.

Dee Snider hosts a radio show dedicated to what he calls "Hair Bands" and seems quite proud about it.
Buck Dharma deserves an award for sitting next to KIX, and not screaming, "Who the fuck are these people? I'm in Blue Oyster Cult!"
RTHA300 Woah, Kix is royalty.
Hister333 I felt that was a horrible double bill as well. Those clowns shouldn't be sitting next to BOC
