Hank's long time steel player is Kayton Roberts.

Like stated above that was Kayton Roberys. He played with Hank Snow for 29 years which ened due to Hank Snows death. He was a heck of a player and gentlemen we all miss him!

I love Hanks music. I could watch old video's of him all day...The Rainbow Ranch Boys were such a good backing band, too. Chubby Wise has some claims to being a co-writer of the Orange Blossom Special but there has been some questions on that issue. I know he plays one of my favorite versions of it. Kayton Roberts was just a fantastic steel guitar player. I think he is still alive and playing.

How did Hank get such a BIG sound with just a fiddle and steel for backing? What a great post! many thanks.

Great to see Chubby Wise on fiddle. Must have been before Hank fired him when his bow accidently dislodged his wig.

I believe the story about Hank Snow TELLING Chubby Wise he was fired, but they were together for close to 20 years. Kayton Roberts has said that Chubby helped get him hired and that when Mr. Snow found out he played non-pedal steel, he moved him over from rhythm guitar.

Hank fired Chubby because he accidently flipped off Hank's toupee with the end of his fiddle bow in the middle of a live show at the Opry.
