- Different day, same story for the Atlanta Braves, who were unable to cash in on several chances in a 4-0 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday at Camden Yards.
Grant McAuley and Jake Mastroianni of LockedOn Braves discuss another frustrating night for the Atlanta offense, which stranded 11 men and went 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position. @@ernestpolk9555 that’s the issue with Snit. Like he stated last year during the playoffs, he’s waiting for a pitch to hit. Winning teams create situations. Snit has no creativity. Why not get Forrest Wall in right field. I’d tell him to get on by any means. He can bunt and run. I just get a headache with Snit.
The moment that home run was hit, and my stomach instantly sunk....I realized how I now can't lie to myself...im as unsure of them doing anything good at the moment, as I was sure they would always find a way to do something last year....hell maybe they're swapping the baseballs when Atlanta bats? Its gotta be a coaching problem. Ron Washington being gone is bad for this team ,because he was a mentor and a motivator for these guys to work hard and win.

Maybe they need to hire Tony Robbins to give them the motivation needed. I hear he’s the best motivational speaker around. They certainly need confidence and stop pressing so hard. It appears each player wants to get it all back at once instead of playing some more common sense baseball otherwise known as small ball and manufacturing runs. Obviously I’m not claiming to know the answer but it’s also obvious that the Braves don’t know the answers either. Something has to change. Thanks both Grant and Jake for your insights and opinions.

It's not just the batted ball luck that odd, it's even happening to the starting pitching. The Braves starting pitching is 6th in fWAR, 4th in FIP, and 3rd in xFIP, but yet they are now 13th in ERA.
Just bring Elder up and stick with him before the confidence gets effected with the young guys

I refuse to even entertain the idea that the Braves have just been unlucky for 2 months now.
Nope, just 5 to 6 weeks. Since the start of May they have the largest wOBA/xwOBA differential in baseball at -0.26, no other team is even within 6 points of that. With their .316 xwOBA ranking 12th best during that time, but their actual production of a .290 wOBA ranks 28th. .
Put Ozuna in the leadoff spot. Why not?

This is getting a little worrisome.
Good game for the Orioles, but they take their knocks too! Remember that they got swept by the Cardinals just a couple weeks ago! I'm a longtime Os fan and I know that you hafta take the good with the bad. I expect to see both of these teams in the playoffs in October. Don't get too down on the Braves, they're certainly a solid outfit!

At first I was upset that I couldn’t watch the Braves because of the Comcast/Bally’s debacle, but I’m actually thankful so that I don’t have to watch this dumpster fire, underachieving team. I have a legit question, what on Earth has made this entire team unable to hit the ball?

I’ve been watching the Braves all my life and Im 44. I just don’t see no leadership or fire in this team! We need something to fire up this team like a Fred Mcgriff not saying an actual fire but something to get team going!
Same age, and same perspective! There is no leader on this team. The manager isn’t going to do it. There is no Freddie or Dansby (not sad about Dansby gone though) holding teammates accountable. Everyone is too nice. This team needs an asshole. But not an extreme version. No Pham. But a Joc type. Someone to remind the whole team that they are awesome, and it’s just a game! Have fun! The team is just very robotic right now. Just going through the motions. There is time. They are still top of wild card. But someone needs to shake up the clubhouse.

U can argue the team has won in spite of Snit not being the best manager honestly. AA bailed him out the yr we won the Series. Took off the month of last yr and have awful for two months. Never been a fan of Snit as HC
In 2021 we were 44 and 45 in July. Yes this is frustrating but firing Snitker C'mon now!! It can take time to work out these mental roadblocks, especially when it's affecting your passion for the game. Baseball's not just a game for these players it's a way of life! If you think back everything this team has went through in one year, it can take some time to adjust to changes, and while you're in the process of adjusting your ace pitcher and your best offensive player go down for the year! If you truly love the Braves don't throw the towel in, continue to be positive and patient and lastly remember how good these guys can be when they are counted out!!
I agree firing the coach ain't going to make these guys start hitting the ball and producing runs. That's just going to add to all the issues and adjusting that they need to do.
@@derekgoodgine6113 I’ve been watching them every single game since 1991. It’s not a talent issue. Not for this long. I think they have some players that play around too much. Which then leads to a soft manager like Snit who doesn’t call anyone out. That’s what I’m saying. Freddie, Chipper, Dansby etc would’ve already had a players only meeting and lit a fire in the team. This team is so young they don’t have that. Some guys that are older on the team are not leaders. That’s the whole problem. I won’t stop watching at all. Chop On bud

Honest question is AA as good as he gets credit for? I look and a couple of things stick out. 1) Freeman led to Olson 2) Swanson led to Arcia 3) Contreas led to Murphy. Didn’t get enough SP in the Offseason. IDK
Wasn't Olson an MVP caliber player last year at a cheaper price than Freeman? Arcia is being paid one nineteenth the price of Swanson, but yet Arcia's production isn't that far off of Swanson's so far this year, as Arcia has a 0.8 fWAR of Swanson's 1.1 fWAR. Also what's wrong with the Braves starting pitching?

Baseball is a game played best being free and confident. Last year guys were free at the plate knowing the guy behind them was going to get the job done if they didn’t. That freedom creates confident at bats creating career years from almost everyone. This year is the opposite. Guys know they have to get it done bc unless ozuna is hitting behind them the next guy is struggling as well. That creates guys chasing and poor at bats. That kills confidence. It’s carrying over to the staff as well. Those guys know they have to be darn near perfect or we don’t have a chance on most nights.
As someone else said, it's like "Groundhog Day." It's the same game day after day, over and over.
Michael Harris led off with a triple and they couldn't get him home, and I thought Oh no, it's the same game again. And after the homer off Max, I turned it off, because I knew it was over.

Just looked at the Braves Home Run stats. Their xHRs looks to be almost 11 greater than their actual HRs.... That's in stark contrast with last year as the Braves were seeing multiple players with 3-4 more home runs than expected home runs. So last year luck was on our side and we were hitting home runs when we shouldn't have been and now we are not hitting home runs when we should be.... So we overperformed last year and are underperforming this year. Pretty infuriating. Did I mention I hate our baseball commissioner. Guy is a clown show and I've never seen so much tampering in my life.

Anderson isn't a shortstop, and Arcia has been the 3rd best shortstop defensively.
But they're just so, so, so close to breaking out, right guys?
There were some of us fans who noticed how bad this offense was a month ago but were talked down to by the bloggers and beat writers for overreacting.
The triple then left him stranded over there was more of the same from this team with sucking. Get ready for a sweep unless our pitchers throw a no hitter and we can somehow get 1 run. Ridiculous
Again, people got too high on them and they were let down. You hope they make the playoffs and then get hot, it is a lot of games left and a lot of teams are bad.
Braves might become sellers this year.time to trade one of our all stars to wake this team up
That was so painful to watch. Duvall swinging at stuff over his head all night. Harris, Albies and Arcia staring at pitches grooved down the middle. How do you get a leadoff triple and not score? Speaking of which, if Harris runs out of the box, that's an inside the park HR. I'd rather watch Oakland play. At least they are playing for their careers.

I’ve come to watch you guys the last couple years now and think you do great. This year, I’ve begun coming here just to remind myself that I’m not crazy watching what’s unfolding this year. It has been exceptionally difficult this year.
I’ve had a cold the last few days and this tough stretch has not made life easier. I feel bad for the Braves…. They helped me through really hard times and to see them struggle is not easy. Better times must be ahead soon and being the underdogs isn’t the worst thing. Hopefully sooner rather than later
Get rid of Snitker. Replace Weiss or Seitzer. Something needs to be done ASAP. Moving Austin Riley up the batting order should be an instant fireable offense.
Grant and Jake, what about Wall? It would seem he would be a far better choice than Duvall in right. Also, it seems obvious that Kelenic should be given an extended try at leadoff.
The pitchers are putting pressure on there selves to be perfect with this offense and end up giving up a mistake at what point do the pitchers say WTF

Braves met another ace pitcher on the mound seems every pitcher is an ace against this team,this team is so stagnant from top to bottom,hopefully it’s just a down year and this isn’t what we’re stuck with for the for seeable future,I’d rather watch the 2015 and 16 teams where we didn’t expect anything
Watching the Braves everyday used to be a priority. Not anymore! I am going to spend my time doing something enjoyable. Maybe if more fans would not show up at the park and left a bunch of empty seats they might start to play better. I am sorry they are just not playing well this year.

Michael Harris might have an inside-the-parker if he hadn't stood there and admired his long fly ball for so long before running. The lollygag of this team is being ignored. Acuna, when playing, and Ozuna have both stood in the box and admired their long fly balls that didn't leave the park this year. Ozuna on multiple occasions. Now Harris has done it. Stop standing there admiring long fly balls, Braves. #FireSnitker Old school managers would have benched these guys for a week for the lack of hustle.

Braves don't need to catch a wildcard spot. They are the 4 seed, top wildcard right now. NL is pretty bad right now. They'd have to fall way below 500 to be out of the playoffs. Braves are 4 games ahead of the Pirates and Giants for that last WC spot.

Only 1, Orlando Arcia, but Arcia has played much better defense than BJ in his time with the Braves.

I know it is a 162 game season but I feel like the club thinks this is just going to change. Switch some stuff up. Stop striking out against the shift and lay a bunt down. Michael Harris and Ozzie are the worst for that. Hit and run. Manufacture some stuff. Cannot just sit there and let it come to you like were doing. Hate to say it but there seems to be some clubhouse issues and not having that leader just like last year. This whole season feels like the phillies series last year in the play offs. It has just carried over. Something has to give. I will say I have noticed the ball change has been a killer to this braves team but everyone is playing with the same ball.
Ozzie only has a 15.8% strikeout rate, which is the lowest on the team, and 27th lowest in all of baseball.

Fire Seitzer. No, it is not an overreaction. Sometimes it is just time. He HAS DONE a great job, but it is no longer working. They may just need to hear a new voice, but whatever he is doing or not doing is a disaster. It literally appears that they are gearing up for breaking balls and trying to react to fastballs. How else can you explain at-bat after at-bat after at-bat when Olson, Albies, Riley stand there and watch fastballs down the middle?

Someone needs to be benched at minimum. Maybe even traded or sent down. Someone from the starting lineup.. Send Harris back to Gwinnett, let Anderson start at 3rd until further notice. They need a wakeup call and Snit needs to be gone by the All-star break even if they go on a 10 game winning streak tomorrow.
I don't even care that they are struggling. What is PISSING ME OFF is the blase "oh well, no problem here." attitude that he has. This is beyond a little slump, at this point if they turn it around tomorrow the season is already damaged, the division is lost and I don't even think they are the second best team in the NL east even if they do have the second best record.
I don't know if he's too old, or maybe just doesn't have the motivation. He shrugged off two straight one and done playoff runs, and he's shrugged off being THE WORST OFFENSE IN BASEBALL since April 27th, even with Marcell Ozuna trying mightily to carry the entire team on his back. They are not "underperforming a bit" they SUCK!
I have absolutely no faith in this team right now…
Find a shortstop. Find an outfielder. Find a starting pitcher. Find a new manager. Maybe then they will have a chance.
I never thought I'd say 'we are one of the worst teams in baseball right now'. This is no longer a blip or 'bad run' it's becoming a huge worry. Coaching staff changes don't seem to be working, along with some big names daydreaming through their huge contracts.
