  • The Atlanta Braves fell down early and could not pick themselves up in a 5-4 loss to the San Diego Padres that ended a challenging and frustrating season of baseball.
Grant McAuley and Jake Mastroianni of Locked On Braves discuss the final chapter for the 2024 Atlanta Braves, a team that overcame a lot just to play into October but ultimately could not avoid the familiar fate of the last two postseasons. Was this the final start in a Braves uniform for Max Fried? What will the winter hold for Atlanta? That plus some postseason picks and much more on the season finale of the Braves POSTCAST.

I'm not mad. The whole year was so tough. I'm happy they at least made it to the playoffs, but there's nothing to hang heads over.

Yes, there MUST be a serious conversation regarding philosophy , hitting and otherwise, before spring training . And hopefully all will buy into that plan.
Again, THANK YOU for your hard work in helping us enjoy as much ad possible the season ,
Jake, I plan to follow you during this off season as much as I can .
Fox bless both of you , Jake and Grant!!

The season wasn't nearly as successful as we all had expected but at least we made the post season without even an average offense. That proves how great our pitching was. THANK YOU BOTH GRANT AND JAKE FOR GIVING US BRAVES FANS SUCH A FANTASTIC YEAR OF COVERAGE OF THE BRAVES. YOU ARE THE BEST 😀. GO BRAVES 2025 ⚾

    Good evening, Jake and Grant!
Mixec emotions swirl throughout my mind and heart. While this season has had many twists and turns , the Braves did make the postseason but just unable to play more than two games.
Injury laden from start to finish . Just unable to overcome those . Down to last out , our pitching was generally outstanding. The real problem has been the lack of offense. For whatever reasons , our big guns just could never mount a consistent offensive effort to put up runs.
I hope someone can come up with viable reasons for this and make recs to change the philosophy and action of the team for next season.
I seriously hope that a plan will be developed and implemented during off season to better this team for next year.
I am doubtful that Fried will be a Brave next season, but he had been a stalwart person/player for the Braves . Oven thank him for his tenure with the Braves and wish him well wherever he goes!
There will likely be multiple personnel changes made during off season. Some I welcome and others I will have mixed sentiments.
Thank both of you for helping us, the fans, to have an otherwise frustrating season. Your candor znd honesty is refreshing and I truly appreciate your hard work and faithfulness to your trade.
To you guys , players , coaches and s as lol who had a part in this season, THANK YOU and h as be a super off season .
Look forward to seeing you in 2025!!
Peace out!! God bless all of you!!!

Amen. I graduated from Lakeland HS and the Tigers spring training is there. We used to walk to Tiger stadium weekly to listen to the announcer from the parking lot.
We snuck into the stadium over a spring break in high school back when sneaking onto fields meant to drink a beer on it and leave without getting caught. And we didn’t.
      Anyhoot… go tigers!

Sale when healthy is a true ace but Lopez had a career year, can’t expect him to duplicate this past season. Go after Corbin Burnes in free agency assuming Charlie Morton retires.

Now Fried can leave for LA. He is not worth what he is expecting to make. I don't care what kind of year Ozuna had but he is a front runner. Both of them always come short in the playoffs.

I am glad that it is the finality to a trying and frustrating season. Atanta will roar back next year an dnot be afflicted by the injury bug as they were this year. I can see a pitching staff of a renewed Spencer Strider, Spencer Schwellenabach, Chris Sale and Reynoldo Lopez. I can see Alex really trying to woo Max Fried back. Charlie Morton will and should retire. How about trying to get a fifth starter in Nathan Eovaldi , for instance.? And by all means give Drake Baldwin a chance at catcher if travis D'Arnaud chooses to retire.I can now see A J Smith-Shawver more as long relief than as a starter. But i can see Grant Holmes as a potential fifth starter.Trade Jared Kelenic, but keep Ramon Laureano. Have him platoon left field with Jorge Soler. Ronald will be back and Michal Harris is a fixture Keep Whit Merrifield as a reserve infielder if he doesn't retire. But maybe Nacho Alvarez will be ready soon. Though Autin Riley will be back, keep Gio Urschela if you can. The bullpen was outstanding but trade Aaron Bummer if possible. Mark my words, the Braves will come roaring back from adversity and definitley make a statement next year. But cngratulations to Atlanta for performing well under amountain of adversity.. Grant and jake, you were and are still outstanding. You encourage us with every victory and console us with every loss. May the Lord bless both of you this off season.

@@steveo3530Why in gods name are u yelling at him? Thats weird…
Olsen and Murphy was absent. He singled them out cuz they were brought in via trades and rewarded huge contracts. And it’s the 2nd post season in a row that they no showed. Relax guy, no need to yell at fellow RUclipsrs for sharing their opinions. You mouth off with your weak opinions all the time on here.
