This government has done real damage to public trust and looking up the accuracy of those tests is scary. Not in Canada, you can be forced to do drug and alcohol tests any time you are driving a car. They are just doing it to everyone there (Ontario) as compared to doing it because they have a suspicion. Don't pull that "Probable cause" up here in Canada. When pulled over, do as you are told, or it will only get worse.

So any traffic stop can potentially turn into a DUI charge when refusal is treated same as DUI.

I am now in a wheelchair and the driver was drinking but wasn't given any test blood or breathalyser from the accident. He was drinking but it could not be proven it was over the legal limit or otherwise.
It was signed into law in 2018, no one noticed but they waited a few years to really enforce it, because now it's too late to go back

They have to have suspicion of impaired driving or it is unlawful. They tried this threat in Alberta, I can assure you, they don't do it.
Sask does it already and their Court of Kings Bench ruled it constitutional. Driving is a privilege and since it doesn't involve arrest and incarceration it's not an issue.

@@clare5688 Not rights, privilege. You can't be criminally charged with impaired driving based on this policy. They can only temporarily suspend your driving privileges is you fail. If they want to charge you criminally they will need the probable cause to pull you over specifically for that and you do the machine that registers a blood alcohol amount. Not just the pass, warn, and fail device.

You do have a right to refuse a breathalyzer test. Make them draw blood every time. Because if you use mouth wash, it will test positive and you will be charged and arrested. And never do the stupid test they want you to do by walking in a straight line etc. Always ask for a blood draw!

This is already in effect. Jump in your car late at night and go out. You will be pulled over and asked where are you going where are you coming from why are you out at this time or in this known drug or crime area or closed business parking lot or loitering at a car wash as you search for coins in your car and of course cuffed vehicle searched. I've had this happen since I started driving at 16 yrs old.
