My country's men fought yours because your country has attacked the US's people. As a "middle eastern person" maybe you should open your eyes and get your dumb ass head outta the sand.
Yeahhh!! The scene where they were acting all cute and wholesome with the kids playing ball made me sick. They've bombed, tortured, abused, and brutalized an entire generation of kids in Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria, Palestine, and beyond, but then they pull this shit on us. Nothing disgusts me more than military propaganda.
@@highsun76 I'm not middle eastern/north African or American and I personally feel that religion started these wars and instead of intervening and stopping, America just decided to make money off of it. As a non-American, it's very visible how their left is just as bad as their right. Donald Trump, whose own father immigrated from Germany due to some issues, wants to stop immigrants and Ilhan Omar, who herself left her home country due to Islam extremism doesn't think that extremism in Islam exists. What's worse is that these people exist in an echo chamber but sadly the effect of their words doesn't.
I’ll say it again: ENEMIES TO LOVERS IS DONE RIGHT WHEN THERE IS AT LEAST MUTUAL RESPECT BETWEEN RIVALS (as in “Oh, you’re my a rival now because I acknowledge that you have talent and prowess in wielding swords, I can’t wait to fight you”)
Or if there's disrespect, it's either for a good (perceived) reason, or it's explicitly treated as a character flaw and the character learns better and changes throughout the course of the story. Pride and prejudice does this well, with darcy disrespecting Elizabeth because of his flaw, pride, and Elizabeth disrespecting him back because of his earlier behaviour and her own flaw, prejudice. And they both grow and learn from it, they start to respect each other and it's actually believable when they start falling in love. But very few stories do this well, most of them either have no reason for conflict or the reason is way too big (bullying, abuse, bigotry, even just completely different ideals) that it's extremely difficult to make the change from enemies to lovers seem organic and realistic to the characters.
Enemies to lovers trope also only works when their is significant character development and without bulling each other or power imbalance. This movie just failed miserably.
the way i thought this movie would be about the guy developing empathy towards the marginalized groups he actively supports to oppress but nope, the girl literally just stops caring about her beliefs and becomes a slight bigot herself 😭
That's what happens in almost every enemies to lovers / completely different people fall in love with each other movie. It's always the girl who changes for the man, rarely the opposite (and "he's not completely abusive anymore" doesn't count as change of character). At this point, I'm just gonna reread Pride and prejudice

I don't understand why their marriage was considered fake. Did they not get legally married? Like Cindy said a "real marriage" is just a legal one. You don't have to be in love to get married.
The American Government doesn’t want to dole out benefits based on marriages of convenience. They actually do investigate claims of marriages made under “false pretenses” - marriages where there were reasons other than love to get married.
Uhm seriously? If you're this gullible then u don't want to know how many fraud marriages n orchestrad as such been happening in Europe especially in Sweden to get citizenship. Imo, Luke's storyline could've complimented Cassie's better. I mean, hers is steeped in commentary on the failures of the US health care system while he just owes money to someone. There's missed potential to comment about issues like homeless vets and untreated PTSD. The movie could have commented on two major overlooked government failures, making their situations parallel/relfect each other better. I feel like it would have made for a more interesting dynamic between them; they would've found common ground in shared hardships and a common foe. Or at the very least, they could've given Cassie a flawed personality that Luke positively influenced while she changed his political views and made him kinder.
I think if the concept was more "bigot marries liberal girl boss and they scam the government together, but then he goes away to war and has to confront the reality of his beliefs and develops empathy" would be a much better plot than "girl with too many solos changes her beliefs because the dick is good" but maybe that's just me. (genuinely, I think there were elements here of a good story, but the execution was worse than I could've even imagined)
All of Sofia's call outs were so accurate and on point Her character's 180 is DUMB Also, everything about the guy sucks but him dismissing open racism as just blowing off steam was so?????? SIR????

I saw this while browsing through Netflix with a friend and I told her, "This straight up looks like a propaganda film. I have no interest in watching it." Sad to say I was right...
There are so many "opposites attract" and "enemies to lovers" couples Netflix could've done that are actually cute, realistic, relatable, and unoffensive to millions of people. Instead, they chose the one that involves romanticized bigotry. Round of applause for Netflix, my guys, gals, and nonbinary pals. /sarc
A cute opposites attract, enemies to lovers story I'd recommend (although they're not really 'enemies' so much as they couldn't get along) is Lunar New Love by Ophelia Silk. It's a "fake dating trade-off", in which Minh asks Cass to be their fake partner for Tet Holiday. Cass agrees in the condition that they join her in another fake date the next day, to one up her shitty ex. They're rocky acquaintances at first, part of the same friend group but not managing to mesh well, but over the book they grow closer and it's really cute. The story is about how people aren't "too hard" to love. If it sweetens the deal, the book has: Vietnamese rep (Minh is Vietnamese and a large part of the book centers around their Vietnamese family, culture, and tet holiday itself). Nblnb (Minh is unlabeled, hovering somewhere around agender, and Cass is genderfluid) Adhd rep (Minh has adhd, and it's referenced many times. It's partly responsible for them resolving to get a fake date, as well as playing a part in their main internal struggle (feeling like they're too complicated/hard to be loved)) Cass is a poet! And there's some bashing of France. Very cute book, I'd reccomend!

Everyone said that this movie is so good but all the racist and especially anti-islam comments made me feel so sick. It had potential to give the guy some character development when he sees how the girl's life looks like as a minority and disabled person but no😣
it genuinely makes me so mad he never had a realization moment about life as a Latina and someone who is disabled. so many missed opportunities for real growth, like when she mentioned the police dont rush to that neighborhood and he just ignored her. like why tf bring up social commentary just to tip toe around the brink and not adress it 😭 😭
Ah, yeah, the good old compromise. Her giving up everything she believed in, and him accepting that she did that in exchange. Also love how he is the one heroically sacrificing himself when he got everything her needed out of the marriage already but she still needs him. She really has a lot of options left for her.
As someone who's SO just got out of the military, they would not care about a "fake" marriage. There were two guys in my partners squadron that literally married each other just for the benefits, and everyone knew and didn't care.
People talk about their chemistry in the movie, but I think that is was just attraction. The actors do have chemistry but the characters don’t? In real life this relationship wouldn’t last
There’s a story about a French woman in a village who was publicly humiliated (a gutter was involved) because she loved a Nazi. That’s the OG ‘Purple Hearts’
There are a lot of stories like that actually, a lot of French women dated Nazi soldiers during WW2. Some did it for shit reasons, some did it because of love, but at the end of the day all got shit from the Resistance after Germany lost the war and vacated France. Look up “les tondues”
the fact that so many people are missing the fact that this is straight up military propaganda (apparently the U.S. military was involved in production?? need to find more sources),,,, and it's WORKING? the number of tiktok girlies saying "i may have to rethink my stance on military men" as if that's wasn't the movie's goal in the first place 🤡
US military is often involved with movies which depicts them. It's usually a I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine situation. The military wants to make sure they are portrayed positively (or at least neutrally) and accurately, meanwhile the movie producers get to borrow assets, props and military consultants in exchange. Imo it's most probable that the writers had already written a script which is very pro-military, then got the military involved after the fact.
How can this be working? I just found it funny/uncomfortable that it's military propaganda and yet it lent right in to all the negative stereotypes progressive people have about the military.
@@ktm9292 i hope movies show the negative "stereotypes" of the military. the military has caused so much harm and they continue to do so. they raped thousands of women in Iraq, assaulted Iraqi minors and killed a girl and her entire family. they also bombed an island in hawai'i until it was inhabitable and continue to occupy the islands to this day. why should we be grateful for them?
They wanting to rethink their stance based on THIS movie?! Is there a director's cut I'm not aware of that gave this guy any kind of redeeming qualities?

@@anonymous-zs9rn Yes! There’s gotta be some sort of mutual character development involved (for this movie, it was one sided and it was awful).
Enemies to lovers trope also only works when their is significant character development and without bulling each other or power imbalance. This movie just failed miserably.

Right???? That is a good movie with a good story
But that would have made the alt-right uncomfortable
That's what happens in almost every enemies to lovers / completely different people fall in love with each other movie. It's always the girl who changes for the man, rarely the opposite (and "he's not completely abusive anymore" doesn't count as change of character).

If it sweetens the deal, the book has:
Vietnamese rep (Minh is Vietnamese and a large part of the book centers around their Vietnamese family, culture, and tet holiday itself).
Nblnb (Minh is unlabeled, hovering somewhere around agender, and Cass is genderfluid)
Adhd rep (Minh has adhd, and it's referenced many times. It's partly responsible for them resolving to get a fake date, as well as playing a part in their main internal struggle (feeling like they're too complicated/hard to be loved))
Cass is a poet! And there's some bashing of France.
Very cute book, I'd reccomend!

Everyone said that this movie is so good but all the racist and especially anti-islam comments made me feel so sick. It had potential to give the guy some character development when he sees how the girl's life looks like as a minority and disabled person but no😣
he didnt even changeeeee
It's just singing montages + racism and sexism
What do people see in it???
it genuinely makes me so mad he never had a realization moment about life as a Latina and someone who is disabled. so many missed opportunities for real growth, like when she mentioned the police dont rush to that neighborhood and he just ignored her. like why tf bring up social commentary just to tip toe around the brink and not adress it 😭 😭
I thought ‘Purple Hearts’ was about bravery but then the explanation was Red Heart and Blue Heart coming together is weird.
💜💜💜 such beautiful symbolism
I didn't know this and now I'm nauseous.
oof knowing that red and blue don't even make purple makes it even worse
@@kilian-one-l Wdym? So I have played with acrylics in art class and yes 🟥 and 🟦does make purple, but it's usually more of a greyish purple.
@@phadenswandemil4345 it makes a colour that is a hue of purple, yes, but you can't make a vivid purple. You'd need cyan and magenta for that.
I am still 100% convinced Camilla Cabello was supposed to be in this movie but they couldn't get her so they got this other girl instead
they couldn't get her to be believably anti-racist

Ah, yeah, the good old compromise.
Her giving up everything she believed in, and him accepting that she did that in exchange.
Also love how he is the one heroically sacrificing himself when he got everything her needed out of the marriage already but she still needs him. She really has a lot of options left for her.
As someone who's SO just got out of the military, they would not care about a "fake" marriage. There were two guys in my partners squadron that literally married each other just for the benefits, and everyone knew and didn't care.
"Remember when he was 2 and you were 3". Completely took my out. I choked on my food.
childhood friends
the fact that they name dropped florence welch in this movie is so insulting like i hope her pr team never finds out about it
LOL RIGHT like do they even have rights to use her name??
THEY DID? how fucking dare they use florence welch’s name in vain
@@simonzenn yup bc her character is one of the opening acts for florence’s show 😭
@@lamb2004 noooooo how could they do this
People talk about their chemistry in the movie, but I think that is was just attraction. The actors do have chemistry but the characters don’t? In real life this relationship wouldn’t last
oh 100% not
It’s absolutely disgusting how popular this movie is in my country. Thank you for speaking out about how problematic it is.
Can we talk about the fact that Sofia is half Arabic herself and she has to listen to these types of scripts????😭😭
She is???
Sofia wrote the script ... she was the producer
There’s a story about a French woman in a village who was publicly humiliated (a gutter was involved) because she loved a Nazi. That’s the OG ‘Purple Hearts’
omg ?!?!
😳
@@withcindy No quarter for fascists.
There are a lot of stories like that actually, a lot of French women dated Nazi soldiers during WW2. Some did it for shit reasons, some did it because of love, but at the end of the day all got shit from the Resistance after Germany lost the war and vacated France. Look up “les tondues”
I need a title 😭
"How can you believe in love but you don't believe in human rights?" 💀💀💀

the fact that so many people are missing the fact that this is straight up military propaganda (apparently the U.S. military was involved in production?? need to find more sources),,,, and it's WORKING? the number of tiktok girlies saying "i may have to rethink my stance on military men"
as if that's wasn't the movie's goal in the first place 🤡
NOOOOOO THIS IS WHAT THEY WANT
"damn the sound system at her concert is so good they can hear it in iraq" LMFAO i don't know why but this was just so perfectly delivered and hilarious
i don't plan on seeing this movie for myself (protecting my arab peace) but knowing that sofia carson (cassie) worked on it as a producer and now seeing all the singing montages i'm wondering if it was all just a self-insert but also at what cost 😭
Quote of the Day: “I don’t how the women in Iraq will feel about this. We lost her so easily.”
the way they kinda just forgot about iraq for the rest of the movie
As Iraqi women I don't give f of any American want to save me from a mess I don't even know can they just care about their business
Watching this as a type 1 diabetic is torture because they don't even portray it accurately. She showed the symptoms for a low while treating a high, taking insulin with those symptoms would most likely lead to a quick death but they totally did their research right? Also very funny they pretend her likely pro military conservative fan base wouldn't dump her ass the second he got arrested.
the one positive rep they could have had wasnt even accurate LOL
THANK YOU BRO I WAS THINKING THAT TOO ;-; what the fuck were those high symptoms 😭
OMG yes! I'm also a T1 diabetic and that really annoyed me!
Urgh, this movie reminds me of a right-leaning man my age I used to argue with on a party and everybody started shipping us, claiming we had some sexual tension 😖
NOOOOOOOO ppl need to learn that arguing does NOT mean sexual tension lol
God felt this. Some ppl back in school shipped me with a guy that once tried to corner me against a locker and threatened to punch me because i told he should shove his conservative dick up his ass while mid sociology class
Ah yes. The only reason a woman (I'm assuming you're a woman) would argue with a man - to start a relationship with him.
once you find out that this script was sent for approval to the PENTAGON it starts making so much sense
Cindy please why are you so hilarious “that’s how you know when you’re really unwanted when someone risks deportation instead of marrying you” LITERAL TEARS 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Also the whole “if she overcomes the diabetes thing she’s set for life” girl I cannot 😭🤦♀️
This is one of my favorite lines of the whole video.
