I dont think Jiyoon will have a redemption arc, she's the "villain" of the show. Just like Fu Yaning and Chani. This isnt Be Lift anymore, this is Mnet we are talking about. (Although idk what Be Lift is thinking anymore after the disaster of R U Next...)
the worst part of this episode for me was when they sent Gyuri and Fuko to Ground for being sick. that whole part gave me weird vibes ngl. it's not like they went around the streets looking for sick people and breathed in their fumes 😭 and you cannot convince me that Yui was better than the two of them, like she couldn't even hold the note

I was getting negative comments against my positive comments for JiYoon as well. If you look at her performance, strictly at her performance, she earned that 88, she's an incredible performer. I also mentioned I wasn't happy about her character arc editing in ep2, if that's what MNET was going for. I mean that's what they did with Seok Matthew and he lost a ton of votes in Boys Planet as a result of the "evil edit". Yes, Jungeun, as the leader, had a talk with her to clear the air and it seemed to do just that. That's what a good leader does and JiYoon pulled it together, didn't she, with a performance that gave her a score of 88. But I'm noticing something about this group that is NOT like Boys Planet or even R U Next, and even Bang Jeemin is feeling it too, just from the way she interacts with the group, the things she says but more from her body language than anything. Most of the girls (not all) behave like soloists/individuals, they're not at the stage where they see themselves as a group. There are a few - SuJung, Fuko, Yuju, Jungeun stand out - that have a group mentality. The rest just want to survive, stay in I-LAND, not go to Ground. I get it, being demoted probably feels like the end, full stop. But if they can remember the previous I-LAND, when trainees were in Ground, the hunger became so fierce, the group mentality became so strong and the bonds intense because that was all they could rely on was each other, they excelled beyond their individual expectations. The narrow focus I understand, they're young and the judges/mentors are not giving them the kind of feedback that gives them the incentive to see the full scope, it's just performance based or like I said about those stupid remarks to SuJung about elongation because she happens to be shorter than the other girls (not helpful, she can't help being short! she's still an outstanding performer, ugh). Anyway, I'm just yapping at this point. I hope the trainees come to see themselves as a group and develop some kind of camaraderie and not just pockets of us vs them, voting on who to demote just because.
No because the reason they voted gyuri and fuko off was because they “coulnd’t take care of themselves” like hello what about their talent?😔 i swear they can learn how to take care of yourself while being in i-land😝

actually i started to like Jiyoon bcuz she's so real and the scene when she get pitied by touching her back ngl it made nostalgic when my (i thought them my friends) "friends" insult me or hurting me and they started saying why are you like that its just a joke anyway im supporting the drama team to debut tgt fighting
if they had to vote for who to remove instead of who to keep would the results have been favourable for Jiyoon cuz her "friends" may not have voted to keep her but i don't think they would have voted to remove her.

the voting this round was pretty disappointing considering girls voted on how they did in practice instead of how they preformed, 2 of them were sick and one of them was showing natural emotions😕
but if they voted based on scores of the performance the only safe would be jiyoon, it's not that much of a diference lol

idk why people are trying to vilanize the girls??? like, ofc jiyoon was upset and I don't blame her for sulking a little, but the girls only had 3 votes this time so they would obviously vote for the strongest contestants and the ones they enjoyed working with the most. While Jiyoon did very well, other girls still did better and is also understandable the girls found it a little more difficult working with her this time, so they voted for other people. It's okay if she is upset, but I truly believe the girls didn't have ill intentions or did it to """betray""" her. They are all TEENAGERS, ofc they won't know what to do 100% of the time.

i feel like mnet is trying to create massive drama between jiyoon, and jungeun. When jiyoon was going to ground, they should jungeun as if it was her fault. tbh none of the ilanders deserves ground (except yui sorry 😢).

the only thing i have against jiyoon was how she reacted when they had to practice. i completely understand her not wanting to hug the girls bye when she went to the ground. but i think the girls were valid for voting her out bc she wasn’t practicing full out and she told the camera she lost all motivation when she lost main vocal and didn’t get center. even if this wasn’t a team performance, having this kind of mindset still hurts her as an individual bc it shows that she gives up easily. not saying she isn’t talented but i understand why they don’t want to work with her. and i would want other girls in the final group who continue to give 100% even if they’re upset (like yuju in the ground)

I completely agree with this statement. She was understandably upset because who wouldn't be in that situation. but the way she reacted to being upset probably made the team feel like they were walking on eggshells during practice. No one wants to practice or work with someone who is visibly upset with their decision.
This! I'm not sure how far her evil editing goes, but if the small clips we have seen are her actual personality then she's not gonna debut or even last in the idol industry. Her energy seems maladaptive and especially when things don't go her way. It would've been fine if affected ONLY her, but her behavior affects the entire team and I personally think her wallowing in on herself instead of taking that sadness and pushing forward for the sake of the team (like many other members did) was really selfish. I'm not trying to say she doesn't have a right to feel upset because she does, but the audience NEEDS to remember the environment she's in and how quick paced it is. In the idol industry itself you're not gonna be given much choices and esp not until you hit junior or maybe even senior level so she needs to realize and cope with this now that she's not gonna always get what she wants no matter how hard she tries or think she tried. Iland is too brutal to allow your emotions to overtake you. I was rooting for her up until ep 2, but I'm hoping she redeems herself and that these editors show some of her good side rather than exclusively highlighting what's bad.
This is so real bc i get if no one votes you you wld be mad but they had a valid reason (her not trying as hard in practice and not participating as much ) and wven though in the acc performnace she ate its still understandble bc of what she did in practice

What I saw in that scene where jiyoon sulked in the corner is not a little brat with an attitude, what I saw is a girl who felt defeated, who is desperate to achieve her dreams, who feels like she is not enough, who feels hurt, sad and ashamed to have lost her part. I actually recognize myself in her a lot and many others who also defend her do to. It seems that she is an overachiever who is scared of failure, shes extremely hard on herself, shes over confident but lack self esteem, shes a people pleaser who needs others approval to feel enough, etc. Like it’s so normal how she reacts she is human and she is actually so relatable. Also keep in mind that it’s her last chance to debut she’s a 2005, that is another factor to keep in mind that also explains how desperate she is

but i feel like the point of voting is to vote for who you felt was a good teammate. I completely understand that jiyoon is super talented, and her feelings are relatable and vaild. but to stay in iland, you gotta show that you are trying hard and that you are going to do what is best for the team. they probably edited it so that the bits where jiyoon was sulking were over-emphasized, but she wasn't the best teammate, and that's who the ilanders voted for. I think its highlighted in mai's votes: the other girls didn't know mai's score, but she never complained and tried her hardest. I think the vote for jiyoon also may have been skewed by the fact that the producers told her that she didn't seem comfortable in her role, which could have further made the other girls feel like she wasn't trying as hard as she could for the team. as jiyoon said at the end: its not about talent. yeah...

That’s what I’m saying, I don’t know why people are attacking her when we clearly know most of people will just fake what they feel on camera like she definitely has the talent and skills to back her up. If we’re really going to nitpick every single thing in this show then honestly shame on the trainee who said “health management is also a skill” as if gyuri and fuko wanted to get sick during practice? In my opinion fuko and gyuri were better than some of the other trainees that weren’t sick
I believe Jiyoon is extremely talented don’t get me wrong. If we were to just judge her performance and her talent then she would probably debut. However I think a lot of good groups that end up working well are the ones with good team chemistry. If the team doesn’t want to work together and has no chemistry then the group will be disconnected and it won’t translate well onstage. Jiyoon wasn’t a team player in the group challenge and that may cause problems in the future leading to scandals or problems amongst the group. She is a teen and has so much to learn but I think that she just needs to learn how to work as a team rather than just herself. Especially because I-land is centered around team building and working with others.

@@kathrinejohnston1017 honestly that’s valid but if we’re going by that logic I feel like Juwon (correct me if I remembered wrongly) wouldn’t really have much of a good team chemistry since she did say that “health management is also a skill” when fuko and gyuri were sick as if they wanted to (that was my impression). On a side note, they did vote based on the practice instead of the actual performance which I find it unfair for fuko especially because she did well
@@Bibbidibobbidbooyeah first I agree that Fuko shouldn’t have been eliminated because she did really good even when she was sick. However I think they didn’t want both those girls to get worse and which would affect future performances.
About Juwon she did say that but that doesn’t affect team chemistry because she never said it in their face she said it in a confession. She still worked well in the team and even though at first she wasn’t center she didnt really whine about it she continued to work hard. But juwon ended up with the center position in the end.
Like I don’t know if I make sense but basically team chemistry and how you work as a team are important to a group. Jiyoon wasn’t doing her part she was just upset the entire time during practice which isn’t right. She should have still worked with the girls like how Mai was positive even though she didn’t get the position she got.

I don't understand why some girls from ground are even in this show. For example, Yeeun always gets criticism from judges. And all the time they make it look like she's just a untalanted visual. Like what, she was a trainee for a very short time and she lacks skills, of course. Also judges sometimes get really aggressive towards girls and say very rude things to them, I can't even call it a criticism.

Bruh the ending they gave a spoiler that from the next test 1 from I-LAND and 2 from GROUND will be permanently eliminated- HELLO!? WHAT- isnt this too soon to start permanently eliminating- like maybe even the 3rd test would be a lil fine, wdym 2nd test!? Cus m pretty sure- no hate to my boys- but my dear Jake was NOT shining in the beginning that much, he only started showing massive improvement later on- so like idk it feels too soon for permanent elimination in my personal opinion.

First… can I just say that for some odd reason Koko reminds me of Heeseung from Enhypen. Idk why but like her looks and aura reminds me a lot of him it’s so strange.
But anyways… about Jiyoon I get why she is upset about not getting a main position and that she was bumped down a lot. So I understand why she acted the way she did but I don’t think it is something that she should do in a team. I am in my own dance team and I don’t get that many parts but I just focus on trying to make my parts memorable. I don’t try to sulk or become negative because that lowers the morale of the team I’m also her age so I don’t get why she wasn’t being a team player. This isn’t like r u next where you’re judged individually you are judged as a team so if you work for yourself over the team it may come off as rude. Idk… it was just kinda strange to me but I hope that changes cause if she continues down this path it might not end well for her.
Jiyoon is the realest and she doesn't even try to avoid being honest even thought she's likely aware of Mnet's editing- and honestly, I hope and truthfully do believe that might actually go into her favor. People recently are starting to get more into seeing girls and women be confident and blunt, people even pick biases in groups with one of their standards even being Resting Bitch Face, like- I think Jiyoon is really going to do well as long as Mnet doesn't just straight up create a fake narrative on her or rig votes (which we know Mnet has done in the past but might now be intimidated to do after the scandal that got one of their groups disbanded and almost got their most successful group disbanded).
but like jungeun was also a weird leader… she should have decided on parts like yuju at first she just ask people if they could do high notes but also didn’t let other people tried out any parts like… jungeun did jiyoon dirty for me
Mnet did them dirty. She wasn't allowed to have people assign parts, the point was that the highest ranked would be leader and assign parts. (They did that on purpose to create drama.)
It wasn't until the judges said to change the parts that they allowed them to try out for the parts.
Jungeun is like the most passive person. I'm certain that if mnet allowed the members to try out for each part and pick their own, she would have done that. The only mistake she made was making herself center instead of main vocalist.
I don't know, cause I can understand both sides. Jungeun had like an hour or 30 min (i forgor ngl) to decide parts and had a lot of pressure on her, not to mention after intermediate check they judges suggested for the main vocal to be changed

Yeah but like mai had a smaller part already but Jiyoon was MAIN vocal, so she'd be more upset. Like high expectations yk? Analogy here: if you watched runext then got one time where the trainees view each other performances during practice and vote for who needs to improve the most with worst stickers. There were two girls in the vocal unit who were the weakest and when it came for the evaluation they both knew it and expected to get at least one worst sticker and one of them got nine out of the ten worst stickers. Poor girl was understandably disappointed but she wasn't 'crushed' coz she expected it, but another girl in the team who considered hereself to be kinda good got ONE worst sticker and cried. But from her perspective like she had high expectations for herself and even if she doesn't think she's the best, she at least isn't the worst. But like to know that someone else think that she was the worst in the team like kinda hits harder yk? So I think the same case kinda applies here, tho I do think Jiyoon could have put in more effort after her talk with jungeun

The fact that she was voted out, shows that this show is full of teenagers that vote for their friends and not by mature people that understand when someone has a hard time for a bit but then picks themselves back up and does the right thing (apologize for their behaviour).
Was Jiyoon her initial reaction not great? Yes, it was immature. But it is also very understandable. She is one of the best vocalists in the show, and for her to get so little lines? Her sulking really isn't that odd.
But the important part is that she pulled herself together and took accountability for her behaviour. If the others in her group still hold grudges because of her initial reaction? That shows their low level of maturity and shows how they have still a lot to work on in their attitude.
@Hannah-vt7lc while vote for sure was a popularity contests among the contests, I don't think it was solely just them picking their friends. Imma phrase it like this, if I'm doing a group project and throughout that group project someone is slacking and not pulling their weight. Even if they did apologize and we received a good score I still wouldn't want to work with them again because they made it harder then it needed to be. Maybe they were having a really rough time and I could sympathize with that but still not want to work with them because I had a bad experience. The impression you make on people matter even if it's seems unfair. If I was doing another group project and we all contributed and worked hard but got a lower grade because some people weren't as good as others, I may not want to work with them again but I'd personally take the person who made my life easier and we could find a way to help them improve so we can get a better grade. That's personally how I see her situation.

Yui isn't a vocalist, she's a rapper (voted the best rapper of the 24 girls at that). Of course, she isn't going to sound better than the vocalists, at least I'd hope not. Mai, Jeemin, etc. would've messed that part up too considering Jeemin said she couldn't hit high notes.

My 1 pick moves up, but my #2 and #5 go down. Fuko gets to have fun leading the grounders like Yuju did, only this time, she is dealing with just 5 instead of 11. If she gets Gyuri on her team plus 1 of Jiyoon or Um Jiwon, they will cruise to victory. I think Fuko can get into Jiyoon's head and bring her back into the game. She could make a late run to the end if she focuses up and shows a drive to survive. If Jiyoon keeps giving Mnet ammo, she's screwed. Let's remember Fuko was part of that hot mess 5th season team from GP999 that all went home after that performance. It was basically her and Rayeon with 7 traffic cones. She can handle this. I'm not worried. Otherwise, all of my main picks are doing well. I'm only worried about my picks in fan voting since they don't fit the Korean standards of having minimal talent and a good makeup artist. If I had to predict 2 girls to get yeeted this round, it would be Kang Jiwon and either Yuiko or Yuna. They could decide to get rid of someone who has had more screentime that has a bad performance this round for the shock factor. If someone like Gyuri or Um Jiwon get Ruka'd, I'm gonna be pissed.

imo juwon is a mid center. I feel like gyuri or fuko shouldve been center even in their sickness. Both are great overall performers and im pissed the show wants to act like they arent just how like how so many people are acting like jiyoons the devil when shes oen of the best vocalists on the show. I ranked her low in drama because of her first two lines but in this performance even with barely any lines she still ended up eating. and I give that lots of props because I know the pain of getting a small part and eating it up. I was in a play once and got no speaking lines but I was the center of attention as the fruit cart lady merely because of the sun hat that I loaded with fake fruit. I built a hat with fruit covering it so I could stand out even with 0 lines and a lot of people came up to me after the show asking who made the hat and proudly saying I did was amazing! I literally ate the show up just because of my creativity and jiyoon did the same thing with this performance. For me, shes ranking a lot higher than I first gave her, just because of the resilience I see in her. I hope that in the future she'll actually be appreciated more.

I just wish jungeun could’ve given jiyoon the main vocal for once, because she herself can get into i-land without having a really big role into the performance. i mean, i get her. everyone would’ve picked theirselves, but she was like the star in episode 1 too so i would’ve liked it if jiyoon became main vocal. excellent performance though, they all served. and fuko did *NOT* deserve ground, after her and gyuri carried after like 😗 and yuju is back ❤
She did give her the main vocal role. It's not her fault Jiyoon didn't perform it to the judges standards. If she would have ignored their advice to change it, it would have brought her unnecessary criticism and she would have been blamed if Jiyoon didn't execute it well.
Idk...I think Jungeun was made for this song and her voice fit really well.
Also this is a survival show...she has to survive! And you forget this was recorded before the first episode aired and before people even knew who Jungeun was. While she scored well with the judges, you need to also impress the viewers and stand out. Where else will you stand out if not the title song of the show?
jiyoon did get the main vocalist part tho, and she didn't execute it to the proper standard, so jungeun had to make a change (as is within her rights). i think she made the right decision, i don't think jiyoon's voice is right for this song.
