Hitler always thought that the Soviets were "worthless, weak subhumans" that were only fit for extermination or enslavement. The awful Soviet performance in 1939 encouraged him to attack the USSR even more. Hitler could've created pro-fascist European states, like Ukraine, who hated Stalin, but he did the exact opposite. This caused most Ukrainians, as well as other Eastern European people, to fight for Stalin against the genocidal Nazi war machine. After all, the Winter War helped the Red Army to improve its flaws for the upcoming war against Nazi Germany.

@@РихардОпарин The Soviet union attacked on the whole border in the winter war, so yes that war was partically fought in the coldest points in Finland. Fun fact : The temperature got to almost -40°c in there.
It is a pity that so many people died in this fratricidal war.I am from Russia and I regret this war with all of us.However, thanks to the war, the USSR adopted the tactics of point strikes on the supply and mobile units of skiers. But because of Putin and his friends, devouring our economy, just selling our resources by right, like oil.Such a war could be repeated on a larger scale. However, we have people-quilted Jackets (usually alcoholics, shouting that they are patriots, but they think that patriotism is hatred to other countries), who are full of propaganda and ready to support this idea and at the same time send someone else to fight. But you don't have to worry, it's all for the inner viewer. Our officials will not bomb the places and countries where their children and their multi-million dollar real estate study.
Enkhjin Galbadrakh Stalin was a militaristic totalitarian regime, who got to power via killing and corruption, wiping people from books so the world never sees what he did.
A common misconception is that the Finns fought valiantly for their homeland to the last opportunity and created many problems for the Soviets. This primitive idea of Talvisota is easily assimilated by most people, so it is very popular. In fact, the Finns fought only until the Soviet troops were able to break through the Mannerheim Line. They could not, because they did not use heavy artillery, fired at Finnish pillboxes with field artillery and carried out poorly organized attacks with the worst masses of infantry (which was useless). In addition, from the eastern direction were carried outpoorly organized invasions, as a result of which Soviet troops were encircled. The Russians themselves created all the problems in this war. When the Red Army took into account the mistakes of the first period of the war, in February 1940 it used 203-mm B-4 howitzers and well-organized assault groups and broke through the Mannerheim line like a rag. The decisive offensive of the Soviet troops took place in the second half of February, when the frosts reached 45 degrees. Attacking in the cold at 45 degrees Celsius is what military valor is. Immediately after that, Finland decided to stop resisting, and humiliatingly asked for mercy, although the main part of the army was still preserved. While the negotiations were going on, the Soviet troops continued their offensive, and already managed to capture half of Vyborg, and at that time the war ended. Pound for pound, finns simply didn't have anything on soviets. This was confirmed in 1944, when the Red Army again broke through the Mannerheim line, defeated the Finnish troops and regained all its territories along with Vyborg. This was proved by the successful storming of Vyborg 1940. It is the successful storming of cities, with close combat, that is proof of the valor of the troops. And not when you shoot enemy soldiers with machine guns while sitting in a bunker, or go into his back, taking advantage of the fact that you have skis and enemy soldiers do not have skis and he can only move on roads. The cessation of resistance, despite the fact that the main part of the army has not yet been used, is a disgrace to Finland. But Finnish propaganda prefers not to talk about it. Finnish propaganda speaks only of heavy losses of Soviet troops, although these losses, as I have already said, were the result of erroneous actions of the Soviet command at the first stage of the war. Any other soldiers could have been in the place of the Finnish soldiers, and the Soviet army would have suffered the same losses. But only at the first stage of the war. The war began because it was clear to the Soviet leadership that Finland would either voluntarily become an ally of Hitler or be occupied by Germany. One way or another, German troops will find themselves on the border with the USSR, which at that time was 30 km from Leningrad. The USSR offered Finland to give the Karelian Isthmus in exchange for another territory, and offered in return much more than it asked for. Finland did not understand a good language. As a result, it simply lost 10% of its territory forever, along with the second largest city Vyborg, and as a result of World War II, it also lost access to the Arctic Ocean.
Thank you for making the balance. Indeed, to stop resisting while you still have the bulk of the army is a disgrace. Modern Finnish propaganda is silent about this shame, instead preferring to talk about the heavy losses of the Soviets (although the reason for the heavy losses was not so much in the actions of the Finnish troops as in the actions of poorly trained Soviet generals and officers).
“Finland did not understand a good language” “A common misconception is that they taught valiantly for their homeland” the fuck you saying? They lost in total 1,211,000 to a numerically inferior, smaller, less industrialized enemy and no basic propaganda can change that. To this day Finland retains 1 million men ready for military service, the highest by far in Scandinavia/nordics and by FAR the baltics. You could combine the armies of Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia and it would still not be enough. And so what if they lost land in a war where the Soviet goal was to establish a satellite state? They stayed free and benefitted from both sides in the Cold War in what is called “finlandisation” and to this day it is ranked as one of the highest non authoritarian populations that are willing to fight for their country. The Russians just lost 1.2 million people and you have to accept that at least as a draw considering that Finland went to war again and in the siege of Leningrad they hit the city with shells. In total, this comment is literally misinformation that your side benefits from.
I agree. The Finns fought only as long as it was convenient for them. To win, you have to fight as the situation requires, not as it is convenient for you.
A brave men who fights for their home should always win. And Finland people did just that. I'm glad that Finland survived. You really are a good people with good mentality, and deserve peaceful calm and good life without someone's oppressive influence. I'm glad that you keep independence from both Russia and USA. A lesson that Ukraine fail to learn.

Reminder, the Finnish are not as invincible as shown here. They didn't have a lot of soldiers, even at maximum mobilization, so they weren't a strong force in general. What the Finnish specialized in were ambushes, elastic defense strategies and hit and run tactics. The reason the war lasted so long is how well ambushes were placed. Snipers everywhere, troops in different pockets or foxholes, ski divisions, etc. The plan was as simple as: go in, kill the enemy (or as much as possible) and leave as quickly as possible. However, in direct confrontations, Soviets would usually win the battle. They had a MASSIVE amount of manpower to throw at the enemy, and a really good industry, capable of producing rifles efficiently. Soviet tactioners were not dumb either, they eventually found out to how to counter the finnish strategies more successfully. The Finnish weren't able to hold onto the Mannerheim line, showing how weak the Finnish were in direct confrontation and required a large amount of fortifications to survive direct confrontation. I'm not downplaying the Finnish, or pretending the Soviets are great, the Finnish fought amazingly against the Soviets in the Winter War and Continuation war, many died for both of the nations, and we remember the sacrifices on both end. I do not want to throw feather and tar onto the Finnish armies, but neither the Soviet. People died on both sides, and I just wanted to make sure people understood the true nature of the war.

Fun fact: after the Winter War Hitler began to think that the USSR was weak and the war against it will be a walk in a park.

In total, this comment is literally misinformation that your side benefits from.
you read it whole? yeah, me neither
I agree. The Finns fought only as long as it was convenient for them. To win, you have to fight as the situation requires, not as it is convenient for you.

General: We lost millions
Stalin:..... ok bury the body
General but we dont have enough land in finland
