@@MRx36000 they are ork tribes that actually want to be smart n stuff like ummies. There quiet a few ork mercenaries that are surprisingly cognitive, i think its cos the smaller number of orks present leads to less of the mob mentality and more individual thinking.......which is more terrifying then i original thought after resding what i just wrote.

The best part of the Ork monologue was how you couldn't imagine it until he started talking and suddenly there's this whole philosophy that is exactly what an Ork would create if he had to stop n givvit a fink.
See one of the things that always gets me odd about Orks in 40k, is they don't hate humans, they often seem to actively really like them. Sometimes they even seem like they feel they are doing humans a favor by starting a big fight with them. This can sometimes be even more true if those humans are Astartes.
What I love here is the Blood Axe Ork feels like he actually is trying to help in his own way. like he is trying to say "Hey, your life would be better living this way, im sure you would love it if you tried it, so I'm gonna try to teach you why you should try it and how to try it" Like he really seems like whoever he was talking to he wanted them to go out and enjoy and Ork like way of life.
And that hits odd, cause while yes a Ork way of life is terrifying for most humans, it is such a different feel to have a foe who thinks they are helping you.
"Dem humies all crumped, no worries. Dey go to da big green,... mebbe da pink?... uf da humies, den dey git anudder go!"
I hadn't thought of it like that before, and now I can't think of it any other way.
They're doing their "enemies" a *favor* -- if might makes right (and the mightiest are the rightiest *snork*) then there's literally no better way to be right than fighting.
How you gonna tell, unless you get in a fight all the times?

When it comes to the 40K “league of lore” on RUclips, Baldemort is the enthusiastic uncle, Majorkill is the shi posting Aussie bro dude, Lutin is the English nerd who will spend hours at a party telling someone he just met all about the various Wars for Armageddon, A Border Prince is the gruff cousin with the secret goofy side, wolf lord ro will share his favorite bits from books he’s reading while you play with his dogs, and Oculus … Oculus is the elegant Irish exchange student who really LOOkS like he’d have too much class for all of this nerdy stuff but for some reason keeps sticking around anyway and you’re just glad you get to know him.

Brilliant work, as ever. But with this, and Nate Crowley, WHO I JUST REALIZED WROTE GHAZGULL THRAKA, you've reached a level of near-sublime perfection. I am reminded of your work on the nature of Chaos, and how well it was presented, especially the ending.
The Blood Axe monologue is superb. That clan has always been my favorite, and the subtle menace of a philosophizing Ork who essentially deconstructs the idea of philosophy (there's that lack of cognitive dissonance again) is a thing of beauty.
I'm wondering now if that Blood Axe is actually Biter. :D

I remember reading in the Space Wolves omnibus that their trukks are actually really well designed and their transmissions are an absolute blast to drive for the Wolves.
@@Deridus Ork technology is safe to use as long as you have Toughness 4/Strength 3-4 and more.
A normal human wouldn't be able to use a marine bolter without bracing it on a tripod or putting it on a vehicle either.
@@SusCalvin Thank you! Exactly my point. It may be ramshackle and cobbled together, but these things have to be sturdy because of the creatures wielding them. The Orks may be degenerated specimens, but none can doubt their prowess.
@@Deridus And the Imperium thinks 250 years and more is a reasonable operational lifetime for a lasgun or melta.
The recent Ghazghkull Thraka novel kind of clarifies this as well. When a spoilery thing happens that I won’t mention effects the Gestalt field negatively, It effects Ork tech, but it doesn’t just literally stop working all together like it’s made out of scrap. Vehicles (presumably those painted red) don’t move as fast, Ork guns run out of ammo faster then the Orks THINK they should, etc.
Orks can 100% build functional technology. Much of which is even more advanced then that of other races in the galaxy
The orc convo had me dying. I pictured it like some smokey interrogation room with some guardsmen playing good cop bad cop, while the orc is lounging with his feet on the table gesturing with a cigar to further articulate his point.
Ah, the most terrifying thing in the universe: An Ork philosopher. There is something amazingly Zen about his perspective.

That's a Blood Axe for ya. They Parley and Trade with the Imperium a lot. Can't really do that if your conversation partner can't understand ya. Of course this is part of why they're decried as "Not Orky Enuff" by the rest of the Ork Kulturs.
War of the Beast holds some rather terrifying implications for everyone about the Krork, really speaking, as it gives the barest glimpse of what they are truly capable of - physically and mentally - and that potential remains within them *long* after the supposed devolution.
I'm just imagining the ork mercenary and the agent from order xenos just have a mutual friendly conversation over a pint.
The orks actually have beer brewed from fungus, and if I remember correctly, ork foods such as fungus and squig meat can be consumed by humans. Hence, an ork and a human sharing a pint can actually happen!

That Ork rolled a zoggin' 20 on insight! I don't think I've ever 'gained' IQ from listening to an Ork before. I think that's the most dense lore nugget I've had on 40k yet.

When the ork pulls out some scrap metal with "cognerige dissivence" scrawled on it I can't help but picture him also pulling out some tiny spectacles with one missing lens and popping them on as he reads it. You know, to look sofistycated.

I always imagine the waaagh as the feeling you have when you and the lads are loaded up in the bus, had a nice curry on the way and more than one pint along with it. You're all ready to go watch the Arsenal match and hopefully show the Tottenham lads what for afterwards. All your mates are along, or at least "enough" mates and you're singing a fun chant.
If the bus gets lost and ends up somewhere in the Midlands, with nothing but a soggy basket meal and no beer, and the proprietor refuses to at least change the telly to the match, you lose all that. Waagh is more come and go than people think.

There must be a war right outside of where this interrogation is taking place because this has to be the most well spoken and articulating Ork I have ever had the pleasure of listening to.
It is very refreshing to hear someone actually understand the correct extent waagh energy has on Ork technology.
Yeah, people tend to waaaaaaay overestimate the effect psykers can have outside the Warp: the Materium doesn't like people overly playing with the laws of physics, so if the Orks had anywhere near the ability to affect reality that most people believe they do, there should also be an immense amount of psychic phenomena (IE, Perils of the Warp,) around every Waaagh! which we just don't see.
Sure, an Ork can make something go slightly faster by painting it red, but if enough of the engine explodes, it's not going to budge no matter how much the Orks want it to.

I think the truth is a middle ground to both ideas. Orks do think things into existence, but they still have to BELIEVE it works. The ork believes it works because it has all the major parts of a gun, so the waagh field irons out that none of the parts really fit together. It’s like having an amateur make a fire arm with proper tools but no training. They can probably make a thing that will detonate a cartridge at least once. The status of the user or the tool afterwards is probably not going to be good though. For orks however, their field nullifies the “rough edges” of their tech, and so it works. Ork guns aren’t just gun shaped scrap. They have magazines, barrels, recoil systems, blocks, etc. these parts aren’t well made, but the field makes sure this tech still works most of the time. I guess in short: orks aren’t stupid enough to think a gun shaped like scrap works, or to think they can think tanks into existence, but they are stupid enough to not notice their “equipment” is barely held together and should detonate given the slightest chance, so it doesn’t detonate.

It seems even more knowledge was lost in nightmare of Old Night than I had thought, as even the primitive magos biologis of 022.M3 have recognised that the human appendix is a functional part of the immune system, rather than an atavistic remnant of prior evolutionary necessity, and that the removal of it does have negative effects on the body due to its regulatory effect on the human microbiome.

This was a good one. It explored territory I've not come across before. The idea of the orks as a weapon _system_ is intriguing, and at first blush one might wonder why not machines.. but the answer is obvious, it's been done (men of iron) and didn't end well. Perhaps the idea of a biological weapon system is that it's *imperfect* and subject to long-term degradation.
The Old Ones absolutely LOVED tinkering with biology and warpcraft. Remember, the entire Webway is their design, and there are several other species with their fingerprints all over them. Plus, they were fighting the Necrontyr and C'tan. Both who had no connection, and thus no defence against The Warp. Thus, a living weapon system drawing directly on the Sea Of Souls to fight The War In Heaven.
That was pretty epic. It's nice to hear things from the ork point of view, and from such a remarkably eloquent ork at that.
If anyone here hasn't read Nate Crowley's "Prophet Of The Waaagh", then go read it now! Or get the audio book which is also excellent.

An Ork is objectively one of the best things you can be in the 40k universe. Only things that are close would be pre-Gobli-Throne Big E, the entire Tyranid hive mind as a whole, and Trazyn the Infinite.

I do not play or really engage with wh or 40k, but I know bits and pieces from friends who do. But I was absolutely absorbed by this. Thanks for randomly showing up on my feed- I have a feeling I’ll be binging your stuff later. Diegetic storytelling is an under-utilized medium.
One might even wonder if this evolution speculated on has happened before, during the War with The Beast, or if not then an entirely different evolution of a set of Orks.

Reflecting on how Kroks are the lost higher potential hypothesized in the video would be pretty damn cool. Thought the "Knight Sized Orks" was a lame revelation from the books...
There is also the result of humans being in contact for extended periods of time, (as in combat and other conditions,) with the "Waagh Effect." These groups become "Orky." The most well know are the "Diggers" from "GorkaMorka." There is also the titan legion Legio Destructor. After being in combat with orks for what can only be said to be "Too Long," the Legio Destructor adopted the battle cry "big death, Big Death, BIG DEATH!"

Not gonna lie I didn't expect the scariest part of this being a voiced segment of an Ork describing its own existence in clear if not brutal and straightforward language. perfectly encapsulates that even if this being seems like a foolish hooligan it exist on a completely different form of reality.
