Who would've thought that the last character you play as in the HLM series is a Russian Mobster on a huge acid trip killing everybody including his own henchmen
Fucking genius way to end the duology! You expect a lot after playing HLM 1&2, but not that. Great ending graphically, story-wise and just the perfect, crazy cherry to top the acid-filled sundae called HLM off!
psychotrip The worst part is the 50 Blessings headquarters is a nuclear bunker. So the guys that made all this happen are likely the only ones to make it out alive.
I feel it's pretty justified. I see it less as a narrative choice than a design choice. The designers wanted to make absolutely sure that there would never be another sequel. Hence, killing everyone off. And in that light, this ending is a little easier to take.
Alex Dekker Biker is out of Miami though, small chance he survived it. He had to go into hiding after all, he found the Janitors. And the big picture. Still, a great ending.
it would honestly be cool if they made a HLM game based around destroyed Miami as this badass wasteland hitman tasked of killing the remaining Russians
SonicGamingChannel That's taking it a bit far. What's the point of living the life if you can't indulge? The real lesson is not to munch on crazy new designer drug pills that give you full-on hallucinations like they are Skittles. Though considering the ending, he did taste the rainbow.
Out of everyone, I really felt bad for Beard, he really didn't ask for it. He did his duty, returned home, and was killed in the nuclear blast on San Francisco right after talking to Jacket, whom he saved years prior. He's the only one that didn't ask for his death as he did nothing wrong.

@@yoyhue1678 I think that was the dev's intent, since they said The Fans reflect the fans of the first game that wanted 2 to be just like 1. Funny enough The Fans in terms of playstyle are the least Jacket-esc of the roster and the most gimmicky. Again probably on purpose.

the Soviet Union would have collapsed the same year this mission takes place, meaning the Cold War would have peacefully ended if these events just happened even a few weeks later
Well, the USSR in the HM Universe was basically already winning the Cold War by the time these events rolled around, so they might not have fallen at all, it may have been the US who bent the knee.
I'm glad that the levels were not in the order that they happened. Because this is the perfect end, and if everything was played in the order they happened, this would not have been the final level.
He went out his own way and didn't let anyone else or a nuke defeat him. He literally had the most euphoric ending out of all of them despite what really happened.
I like how this game ends when the 80's themselves ended. People didn't start wearing grubby plaid thrift store shirts and listening to Pearl Jam and Faith No More when new years' day 1990 rolled in, the Soviet Union had to be dissolved first.
The Son's ending is pretty sad to think about tbh. Despite all the work he had put in to put the Russian mob back to the top after Jacket wrecked it, it all amounted to nothing in the end. He wanted to make his Father proud and honor his legacy, but simultaneously felt hat he will never be like him and that the crime life is not only lonely but a life he doesn't want. Even though the rainbow bridge is a drug trip and he basically off's himself, it feels like he knows what he is doing and is purposefully doing it so he can finally be at peace.
It's neat how in the epilogue, all the characters that die via gunshots or other means are left a bloody mess, while all the ones that lived until the bombs fell are simply left as piles of bone. The only thing that concerns me... where are Biker and Jacket? I feel like them not being at that table implies they are somehow still alive.
Jacket is represented as Richard (aka. Literally the goddamn Death himself) but Biker isnt there, my theory is that since Biker cannocally lives in the desert after getting his face fucked up by Jacket, he just survived, and possibly got out of the country when he knew of Miami's Nukes, so im pretty sure they let him live, the one who knew the most of 50 Blessings got away, which is sad, if Jacket would have just leaved that day at the phone company, Biker would have literally save Miami and possibly the entire USA, this game really makes you realize how shitty and dumb we are as human beings.
incredible ending. immensely satisfying for me as (well, almost) all plot points are tied up and eradicates the possibility of a sequel, which means the story is complete. both games were pretty fun, but i don't need a hm3
So the devs (again, like in HM1) are telling the player there is no point to repeating the game, and that there is no real reason for playing the game in terms of justification..
Hotline Miami 3 will be a Fallout-esque post apocalypse with an older Biker roaming the wasteland on his bike downing bottles of hard liquor and clearing out 50 Blessings bunkers with a partially broken helmet... Only to find that Jacket survived to become the Colonel's right hand man, and that they're planning a nuclear retaliation against Russia After a boss fight with Jacket where Biker wins this time, he convinces Jacket that 50 Blessings was behind everything and Jacket realizes that they were responsible for the Girl's death and tried to have him killed as well. So Jacket helps Biker in a final boss fight against the Colonel in his panther mask Biker is killed, but the player's perspective switches to Jacket and he kills the Colonel and his men Then he sets off the nukes himself cuz fuck Russia too
That would kinda ruin the moral of the story. The purpose is to show the futility of revenge, no matter how righteous it may be. Also to show that sometimes, you can't change what's in front of you, and you just have to live with it.

That's what happens when you boot the game for a second run. The game tells you you didn't understand the first time already, that all of this is useless and coming back to it won't change anything. Pretty cool and frustrating game philosophy actually.
I like the detail that when the nuke hits everyone who is performing animation track freeze in place, signifying it happened so fast that nobody noticed it. Just lights out instantly for every single one of them.

In a way, he wants to get a better ending just like the player does. He even tells you that playing hard mode won't change anything. He is watching the story over and over, trying to get a better ending.
+CrappyCondor That is so true on so many levels! In a way its kind of sad the one animal mask takes the roll of God and Death by trying to change everybody's life cycle. All the characters are playing on the same field. Its all up to Richard to decide which move to make. In the end Richter seems to be the only one aware of the nukes. All of the other characters seem to be to hooked on the normal lives to even notice the nukes falling. Even Jacket himself simply sits in his cell and embraces death.
SO Jacket was the rooster mask in the second game since he says he knows Beard from before and is never actually seen conversing with said rooster mask which means he was the rooster mask and came to say how pointless their struggle was since he already did all that, following the phone calls and killing people etc. and ended up in jail only to be nuked like everyone he was trying to get out of the limbo
The fact that when you start a new game Richard asks why everyone is there but it seems to be more directed toward the player like "You know what happens you know how they all die why are you back"
The way they leave the dream is the same way they die (richter, manny, evan, and beard as skeletons from the nuke, the som dead on the floor, etc). Weird.
He took these weird pills that look oddly similar to the bizarre plants in the Hawaii levels that may have driven the Colonel insane. The implication is that there MAY be something vaguely supernatural behind all the events in the game. Some force connected to those weird plants that turn people into fatalistic, nihilistic psychopaths and ended up completing destroying the planet. There's clearly something deeper going on with the plants, the chicken, and especially the janitors. Honestly, I liked the first game where everything was simply, "We did this for fun, it's your fault for trying to find a deeper meaning to your senseless violence", but the stuff added in the second game is pretty cool as well. I just wish it hadn't ended THIS nihilistic.
nah, its pretty unlikely, since he was in miami at the time the nuke went off, but he is the most likely one to have survived, since his death is never shown also jacket died in his prison cell, we see the flash going through his window, so he didnt make it
The creepier thing about this when they are at the table, They die as they did in the last game, For example the son is bloody and most of his bones are broken since he fell of a roof Or Beard is a skeleton because he got caught in a nuke at san Francisco.

I remember, when i was playing this it was night and that was a fucking scary night
Espacially at 7:32. I shitted myself
The way they leave the dream is the same way they die (richter, manny, evan, and beard as skeletons from the nuke, the som dead on the floor, etc). Weird.
Did the Son take a super powered 2cb trip, or LSD?
Why not both?
Lucia Smith I've never heard of a pill of lsd
Probably some new Research Chemical
Ohey. Looked up the clip to show to a friend, wasn't expecting to see it under Stallord's name.
So beard said we met before... Its jacket then he represents everyone and the nature we desire.
>Russia and the US are now back in open and direct conflict after so many years of pressure growing in the background
>This game's ending
Oh boy.
The craziest thing is playing it high on hard mode.
Kickass!
Remember the first time you beat this and screamed 'What? That's it?'
I wonder why Richard stated to Richter that he isn't Jacket yet he says to Beard that they knew each other before as if he is Jacket?
I believe that he... well, is more like a spectator, like us, except he has some level of influence... Although not much.
It is more than likely biker survived, but I really hope Jacket did too.
nah, its pretty unlikely, since he was in miami at the time the nuke went off, but he is the most likely one to have survived, since his death is never shown
also jacket died in his prison cell, we see the flash going through his window, so he didnt make it
such a sad ending
I need a movie of these games directed by David Lynch asap!!!
This is hands down my favorite level
I already felt connected to this game on so many levels but only now do I realize the Nuke in-game gets dropped on my birthday ! Damn :(
i played this at 3 am and thought my hands were going numb
1:19
You timed that with the music well.
When you start liking the characters at the end but Dennaton ends it all
That moment when You Are The Blood starts to play always gives me chills
i feel like where is my mind would have been a better ending song
The creepier thing about this when they are at the table, They die as they did in the last game, For example the son is bloody and most of his bones are broken since he fell of a roof Or Beard is a skeleton because he got caught in a nuke at san Francisco.
Richter wasn't bad. He just wanted to take care of his mom.
As some who has had a psychotic episode on acid. This is pretty accurate
bro you good?
i think itd be cool if they made a mad max/fallout spinoff of the game to continue the franchise personally
4:33 what song is that it’s so cool
Dust
This level makes me want to do drugs.
Richard's last line comforting Richter will forever stick with me
And everyone died.
The end.
So this how it feels to get super ultra high
This game is so damn difficult tho, i wonder the percentage of people that installed it compared to the ones that finished it
a kids brain after being put on laughing gas at the dentist
I think Biker is the only one who could have survived!
Because his death was never shown!
This part made me question "What the fuck am I even playing right now?"
violent, epic, and a sad ending to go
7:31 .... imagine this shit in real world heppening to ur self...
still makes me tear up.
so biker is still alive?
no that motherfuckers long gone.
Flying Toaster yes and he's going to take revenge. For everyone and everything. He will take down 50 blessings. And that's why I want a sequel
Collin Springer all of america is gone
@@gerardolopez7840 I don't know what to believe anymore.
Since Hawaii was nuked as well, I think it's safe to assume that all of the US was nuked.
As comical as this level is, it shows the creepy truth of how drugs affect you
