Looking like a mini Bunnings trade section 😂. Storage projects are always so satisfying, I find it clears up your physical space and mental space haha. Great stuff Scott!
Well executed...As someone that worked in a lumberyard as a teenager, I would suggest you "sticker" (thin strips of waste wood) the stacked lumber to allow air circulation around each board.
Hey! That’s how I built my indoor rack. Only I made short spacers so I could vary the height on the “shelves” with free open holes every 10cm’s. It’s a very flexible solution, you can easily vary the depth of the outriggers too. I didn’t fasten the outriggers, once loaded, they won’t move.. Organisation makes all the difference. Thanks, nice seeing you again!
I built a 6m rack very similar to this last year. One thing i can guarantee you is that when you need a certain dimension of timber it will be at the bottom of its pile 😆
That stach in the thumbnail hahahahahahah please keep the beatd you look great with it!! Great video and it inspires me to do the same in my garage!! Thanks!
just a suggestion, please round over the corners and edges of those rungs. if a random knee, shin, elbow or head bumps into one of those... oh man you don't want the pain.
I was waiting with such antisipation for the mustache from the video thumbnail that i did not pay any attention to what just happened. I will have to watch it again.
Bulbs in the garden Hello Scott and Jess (AKA Scott Brown Carpentry) from Sydney Australia. Bulbs are an easy way to vary contrasting colours and make terrific borders, or; in larger spaces complete beds, and there are many tulip festivals that celibate with vibrant pattern blooms. The main thing is to plant in soft soil and separate after a flowering show to stop clumping. They can be stored like onions for next season. 🌷💐🌏
Jess, you really should do a Gardening channel. You may not feel like you know what you're doing, but there's a whole lot of people out there in the same situation and would love to learn from you. Especially since you have this channel to promote your channel. Double your income! :)
Great work. Thanks for sharing. More ideas as I continue to get my new shop squared away. $1,000 for maintenance and engine mounts replaced! Actually a good price. Try getting that done in the U.S. Subscribed!
Scott, you are an amazing editor, im sure it takes some time because your videos always tell a story. You should tell us how long it takes you, after you pull all that material and paint the pink timber a dark olive to match the house 😊 love the videos! Nice rack!
Putting shelves in my garage for timber and tools was amazing. Yes so much work but now I feel so much more relaxed when I get in the shop. Loved seeing your building skills on an odd set up, very well done.
I forgot about the other roadside driving thing. So i was a bit stumped when I saw a dog sitting on the “driver’s” side of the van 😂. Great job getting that wood sorted, Scott. At my work place i had some storage organized, but we had to shrink from over 8 to 6 meters now. So I am fighting it find space for everything :(
I built a storage like this a few months ago and I was amazed how strong it was ! A bit of glue, a snug fit and 2 screws and it could hold my weight (70kg) at 70cm from the wall
The fantail didn't just Poop in your garden it added fertilizer to your garden its purpose in life is to gather the flying bugs that might otherwise feed on your garden and return their nutrients to the garden as well as being cute while doing so :)
Built a similar rack years ago. Cut the same angle on my blocks, approximately 5 degrees, and put one on top of the rails so NO SAGGING. Made another one for a friend and half lapped the rails to the stiles, saved timber that way, and also NO SAGGING. If a Fantail doe's a number 2 in your garden it's good luck. Tell Jess.
Not sure who said it, maybe the Essential Craftsman, one of the other carpenters i follow, or maybe you even, but on one of their first job, that carpenter had to saw timber to length for prep and on call. He had no good workstation and it got uncomfortable and mentioned as such to the foreman who shouted back "You got construction wood there, build it yourself!". 🤣 This reminded me a bit of that.
Scott, you said something interesting about repetitive actions...do them all at the same time. So I was wondering if you would do a challenge on video. Test: There are 10 actions to perform at 10 stops around the exterior of your house. Which is faster and therefore cheaper? 1. Do one action at all stops. Repeat for each action until all are finished. 2. Do all actions at each stop. Repeat until all stops are finished. I was taught #2. But I learned that I had to have some way to carry all the supporting tools and materials for all actions...thus more tooling. If I had to drill 3 different holes, changing bits was a pain so I had 3 drills. Again more cash, but after numerous projects using that method, it paid off. Always wondered if the guy who taught me that had done an actual test. Of course we were painting house exteriors on ladders so the idea of moving two ladders with a plank one time for each location made sense. Didn't ever question it for carpentry.
I'd be making some simple plywood platforms with casters for the floor level storage, makes it much easier to push and pull buckets of stuff out from under the higher storage without doing your back in. Also keeps stuff off the damp floor (concrete is always damp, no matter how dusty it looks) so it doesn't corrode or rot and you don't wear through the bottom seam of paint cans dragging them on the floor (DAMHIK). I was also a bit surprised you didn't put some sort of breathable lining between the breeze blocks and the timber storage to stop wind driven rain/spray from getting to the rack
Every time a pleasure since years now to watch a little piece of your everyday life, with your patience and creativity at filming and working. Greetings from little Belgium :)
0:45 I appreciate the conceptual drawing. It really gives us a peek inside your mind. But, since there isn’t a sun in the top corner with a smiley face, I cannot take you seriously. Best of luck with the lumber rack and any future endeavors. -written by an 8 year old.
Amazing build ... cool to see how other temps on other countries affect their builds ... we got similar looking rack but we made them with steel since exposed wood will not last in my area those exposed wood will be infested with termites if not treated with a preservatives or soemthing ... the woods we store will be sprayed on with some sort of anti termite and preservative mostly no color for the wood that needs to look preety ... for the wood that doesnt need to be preety and just for random stuffs, we use random oils
Nice! Interesting red coating on the wood. Must be pressure treated or treated for insects. Always interesting to see videos from other countries and interesting to hear terms used in different English speaking countries, like “Warrant of Fitness” which is an inspection sticker here in the US.
Your putting all the load of your uprights through a very short grained little block and thence through a 1/2” bolt to concrete. That’s quite a cluster of fasteners for a 6” block. How about a sacrificial/replaceable treated leg block under them to frost free concrete. If the floor can frost heave then use more fasteners through a shorter leg into the concrete wall. With planning that bottom block could have been one piece to the first arm.
Need more Mario thumbnails like this. Also, I'm Pavlov's dog over here -- when your video is released, I immediately know the weekend is almost here and am ready to stop working. 😅
"I dont actually know what I am doing, I am just having fun." Words to live by.
That's a beautiful thing! Storage is awesome. Also that dog looked at Scott like "I'm not supposed to talk to strangers". LOL
A Vizsla is always a bit wary about strangers - fantastic dogs!
“I don’t actually know what I’m doing, Im just having fun” this may become my favorite quote ever.
@5:37 “what do you call this Jess?” Reminds me of The Castle 😂
Such a great film.
Looking like a mini Bunnings trade section 😂. Storage projects are always so satisfying, I find it clears up your physical space and mental space haha. Great stuff Scott!
Also, the thumbnail was a bit misleading. Where was the moustache??!
Well executed...As someone that worked in a lumberyard as a teenager, I would suggest you "sticker" (thin strips of waste wood) the stacked lumber to allow air circulation around each board.
I'm liking the Friday videos but now I need to find something else to have my Saturday morning coffee with.
And when you run out of timber, you can take the rack apart. Genius thinking.
A wood store easy. A Scott Brown wood store, a thing of beauty. 😂😂
That must feel sooooo good having that space more organised.
I love this channel!! It is by far the realest Wish version of a real carpenter !

Don't over worry about it Jess. We're doing the same thing, but add 4 kids and two full-time jobs to the mix.
The music in this ep giving off some real Sim City 2000 vibes

Today isn't Friday... Now my head hurts 😂
Friday in NZ though 😂
There isn't compelling evidence New Zealand is real. It may be beyond the southern ice wall
Maybe this week we get 2??? Would be nice.
Always nice when an early SBC video pops up in my feed!
How do you think I feel... Normally this is my Saturday morning video... And now I'm watching at 6am on Friday... Which means another day of work
OMG a Vizsla. Never thought i would see one in NZ
just a suggestion, please round over the corners and edges of those rungs. if a random knee, shin, elbow or head bumps into one of those... oh man you don't want the pain.
Shin slasher 😮
Ankle biter! Stumbling block!
Skaters prefer this way. It keeps our shins tough.
I was waiting with such antisipation for the mustache from the video thumbnail that i did not pay any attention to what just happened. I will have to watch it again.
I think the thing I loved most was the simple inexpensive lunch you had together 🙏 keep up the good work from across the Ditch bro 😎

Any way you look at it $1,000 is still less expensive than buying a new vehicle. You're right on track with the lumber rack build, btw.
Really enjoy watching your home come together Scott. A place for everything and everything in it's place....omg how I wish.
Thank you squarespace for the wof and service 👍
Respect to the mustache in the thumbnail!👨🏻

Scott, I love every exciting episode, but it's never too late in the day for coffee!
“That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” I've been struggling with getting organized my entire life...it's in my DNA. lol
Scott, you are an amazing editor, im sure it takes some time because your videos always tell a story. You should tell us how long it takes you, after you pull all that material and paint the pink timber a dark olive to match the house 😊 love the videos! Nice rack!
Tulips are an essential component of life ,,, and crocuses to let you know spring is coming soon.
Great build and great advise! Organization is the key to a good and stressless job...
I'm not a dog person (cats all the way, man) but that pup is gorgeous.
Putting shelves in my garage for timber and tools was amazing. Yes so much work but now I feel so much more relaxed when I get in the shop. Loved seeing your building skills on an odd set up, very well done.
Nice job! Btw that's a beautiful Hungarian Vizsla.
Love the Scotland rugby top Scott!

Sometimes we let our dogs drive over here.

That's a great idea how to build the rack, works well, and looks like it can handle any weight you can put on it.
Super organized. My inner ocd is satiated. Can’t wait for the garage!
garage turned into your new problem room :D
I built a storage like this a few months ago and I was amazed how strong it was ! A bit of glue, a snug fit and 2 screws and it could hold my weight (70kg) at 70cm from the wall
Hope you didn't forget about putting dpc at the bottom between the timber and concrete foundation wall as well Scott!!
loving the tache in the thumbnail!
Scott: Too late in the day for coffee.
Me at 9pm: ~takes another sip~
Hot pink might be my favourite part
That’s a good piece of organisation Scott, keep up the good work. Thanks for the latest exciting episode.👍👍
The 5 degree fall is perfect so no timber falls onto your head when your grabbing your paint tins!
extremely satisfying episode
The fantail didn't just Poop in your garden it added fertilizer to your garden its purpose in life is to gather the flying bugs that might otherwise feed on your garden and return their nutrients to the garden as well as being cute while doing so :)
Having a resident fantail is great, especially if you have a compost bin.

Brother I'm driving a 2001 Tacoma with 290K+ miles on it and it passes smog every time. You are good
Scott brown …
Job satisfaction guaranteed… 👍🏼
That dog did a great reverse!
Loved the vacuum bit!

This reminded me a bit of that.
That's a great rack Scott! It's a great feeling when you put in the mahi to tidy up an untidy area.
Chilli looks nice .Racking is awsome vehicles always cost a fortune lol. Thanks for videos keep them coming . To anyone who hasnt subscribed do it

hi from Colorado .spring is here. timber rack is a good thing. shop space is hard to keep in check. Have a great winter. kkeep on doing what you do.
Making Ray a happy man.. 🎉🎉

Scott, it's never too late in the day for coffee! Love the simple design of your rack. I might now do a similar thing.
Been soooo hanging out for this exciting episode. Building + organisation ... oooof! Satisfying 🤤
Nice work Scott brown here, very clever 👏 sash windowz
Thank you Scotty & Jess "wishing you luck" great episode thank you. Cheers
Man, that satisfies me! More please

Now where to build the next one🎉 thanks for the ideas..
Well-done looks good ☺️
This is life changing
You need to force paerau to come visit you and help you on your house!! I miss paerau and his antics 😂
Unexpected Scott Brown here is always great
Thats a nicely sharpened saw Scott!
I love your van, I wish we had those available here in the US...
Nice stache in the thumbnail, hope we see it in the next exciting episode :D

Leaves make excellent mulch. Make sure your soil has good drainage for bulbs.
Hey Scott. It seems someone is trying to use your account.

What a great Thumbnail. ps the moustace = wooof
I've been putting off building a lumber rack for months. Probably time to do it.
Nicely done!
Nice work SB
Just done the same thing, but used old metal brackets and stuff lying around, heaps more storage
Great design, thanks for the inspiration
I caught myself entering my house today and greeting my girlfriend: ‘Scott Brown here!’. She was not entertained. I was.
Loving it bro keep up the awesome work
Hi, brilliant job Scott
Steve
I love that van of yours, it will be a sad day indeed, when you get rid of it.
Finish our new roof plus external insulation project and this is what I need to do before anything else so everything else is easy to find
Nice build 👍👍
Just had to say this every time u upload I feel more mentally sane XD Vids a very relaxing altho I do the same in person but still XD
Good Luck!!
Very well shot vid!
Great Moves! Keep it up!
