I HAVE AN OUTDOORS RUclips CHANNEL TOO: / theinvertedhourglass - Хобби
It's amazing how fast it will grow
Haha yes, and amazing how much the budget grows too!!
Nice to see how much pleasure you're getting from this. The sheets look very effective and the canal wharf section sounds good!
I honestly wish I had got into building this railway layout as soon as I moved back to dry land! It is just an absolutely fantastic hobby!
Looks great Dan and your plans sound exciting. I can`t wait to see your canal area come to life, i hope there will be a model Tilly.
Haha I can't wait to get on with creating the canal! It is probably going to be the biggest challenge but I think it could turn out to be the most time consuming but rewarding piece of the layout!
Nice one Dan really enjoying these videos 👍
Thanks! There are plenty more to come!
I see you're still using a basic Hornby controller. I would suggest investing in something that gives better and quieter control. I have a Gaugemaster combi single controller which is miles better that the basic Hornby one.
by far the best ending to any model train video on youtube! :-)
Ha ha perfect comedy timing at the end and a cliff hanger: will the engine crash into the carriages?....... find out next time on sort of interesting trains!
Haha! Always one for drama and excitement in my videos!
oh how fun it must be working on your micro world instead of watching the telly.
You've gone further on your layout than I. I have to get all my supplies online and have them delivered. There are no local retailers near me. I am modelling a British village tho I live in the US, so I have to buy from importers. The duties and delivery costs add significantly. Then, once I get something in place and I actually see it, I usually have to modify my plan. I am constantly modifying my plan and I know you must do the same. So, once I order something I have to wait until it can be installed and I actually see it before I order something else because I cannot plan adequately. I am too inexperienced to overcome this plodding process.
I've got my main oval and a branch, some trees, a station and some people. It's hard to believe how much time this takes, tho I enjoy the process. The more I see the Metcalf products, the more attractive they are for me. The initial and delivery cost for them are so low that I could get all I need from Metcalf for the cost of a single resin building. Plus, there is the satisfaction of building rather than buying a finished product.
I want to be able to run more than a single loco at once, so there are wiring issues. I don't know your plans in that regard, but it's something to consider. I hope you're having as much fun as I am. I appreciate learning from your videos.
Haha I know all about ever changing plans!
I think I am going to keep mine as a single loco layout, for the short term at least. As you have seen from these videos, I really like Metcalfe buildings! They really are great finished products and a fun thing to sit down and put together!
The Metcalfe products look very nice on your layout, so I was... WAS planning to use several for my main buildings, but, as I am building a primarily nighttime layout, paper presents a problem. How do you block interior lights from shining thru the walls. I can't paint them or I'll warp the paper. I'll probably have to use foam which I can paint and then apply exterior materials. So, yet another change. And something else to buy.
HI CAN YOU TELL ME IS YOUR LAYOUT ABOUT 8' X 4' ( the videos great )
mines 8' X 4' but It seems hard to get my 8 things on shops, coal yard, stations,
Warehouses, hills & rocks, a walzer, very small football ground, small Airport.
Do you have to measure the boards you put them on & try to fit them on board ?
When are you starting work on the dungeon?
Not for a while I'm afraid!
👍
Nice
Thanks!
