I have always counted an Elk hunt for a mature 6x6 the top of my bucket list. However, I was severely injured in a construction accident while welding...This past August I had my 30th surgery from that accident. Amazingly I can still walk after #1000 of steel fell on me and crushed me..breaking my neck and back in 7 places, both shoulders, both arms, both hands and my left leg...I have now had 70 pieces of Titanium put in me...This hunt will forever haunt me as one that most likely will never happen. The cost is too prohibited for me..It hurts but that is life.. I congratulate everyone on this video for living the dream. I live vicariously through your videos you share. Thank You for that!

Cory , I know you don't know me from Adam, but the thing is I had to quite Archery hunting 2 yrs ago. I could probably work at it and send 1 more quality arrow down range. Got bad Arthritis in , well just about all my major joints. Really bad in my shoulders. And my spine is said to be that of a 90yr old. So I'm starting to loose muscle. Also have carpal tunnel syndrome in both wrists and hands. Sorry hope you read this it is a long story. But important to what I want to ask. So I grew up hunting on the Oregon coast. 1st time my dad took me I was hooked. After high-school moved into a house that had 1 bedrooms apartments small kitchens . Anyways was at work one night got a call that my building was on fire. I was probably in my late 30s earlier 40s at this time. But land lady was making pan fried chicken, and turned on the oil and decided she needed more chicken as her family was coming to visit. She left the oil on and went to the store took less then 45min not only for that poor lady to loose her house and all income. But 3 of her tenants including me lost everything. Every mnt I ever owned. Shortly after I moved to Idaho. But had already bought my elk tag , hadn't lived in Idaho long enough to hunt . But was a resident of Oregon for 7 yrs at that time. So went back and hunted .never did shoot another nice Sitka black tail. But got another decent elk for the area I hunted. Lived in Minnesota for a few years also before moving back to Oregon. Where I lost everything in that fire. Anyways did move back to Minnesota for a few yrs again and shot some nice bucks . So never been able to afford another shoulder mnt but I do like European mnts. Anyways let me try to shorten this up a bit. On my wall I have been able to replace 1 Roosevelt elk , 2 mule deer, 1 white tail , like to get another nice black tail. But what I really want to replace is my rocky mnt elk. But like I said, before there is just no way I could ever do it alone , and I have no friends, well that's another long story. Anyways curious, have you ever taken a hunter out , for a 1x elk hunt otc Idaho? Could really not only use your help packing one out but just finding one , in an open hunt zone. Seen a bunch where I used to hunt mule deer and elk but now it's a draw hunt for elk. Get back to me if your interested in helping an old guy out would be much appreciated.

As someone that’s never been hunting but really wants to this is great. It establishes the excitement as if you’re right with them. Seeing the hunter’s reaction especially that one guy jumping up and down at around 2:26 is enough to get me fired up! Cool video.

It’s interesting how many of us hunters find favorable the end footage where you DO NOT kill an elk.
Because most of us normal hunters don't own an elk reserve and can afford 800 dollar Sitka clothing

It's not until you hear that bugle with you're own two ears that time stands still and couldn't a thing be wrong with the outside world and you find out why nature is so beautiful. I get the chills and find it difficult to watch these videos at times because it makes me want to be out there freezing cold pulling ticks out of my inner upper legs or neck. Smelling like sonething the cat drug in and smoke from the fires hoofing it up some of the most unforgiving terrain huffing and puffing. It's only as I sit down after a long days work that i realize the best times in my life where spent like that. Memories and lessons learned that many men never get the chance to see. I know it makes us better men. Not better as in better than the next nan, better as in seasoned and able to respect things as only mother nature can teach you. Just have to be there to know. Here's to the next fifty generations getting to get thst education like we had! Respect y'all

@@PointsWestOutdoors My OTC is antlerless only. Antler units in Idaho sold out unless you want to hunt the eastern border with Grizzly. (no thanks).

@@pwprochazka yeah no thanks, here in AZ we can get OTC tags for units with very limited elk numbers where they are trying to clear the herd. I'm Talking like 50 elk with in 2 or 3 units . So I do what it seems like the rest of the country does and head to Colorado. Good luck this fall.

How do you get so close to elk? You wouldn’t ever pull that off with whitetail unless they were farm raised.
