- Corey Jacobsen and Donnie Drake team up with good friend Tyler Crockett (@PureElevationProductions ) for an unforgettable day of elk hunting. The Idaho Department of Fish and Game allows hunters to purchase any leftover NR tags and use that tag as a second tag...which is exactly what Tyler did! Tyler postponed surgery for a broken back to be able to archery hunt for elk, and he made the most of his borrowed time!

I can’t even right now!! By FAR the best series of elk bugling on the internet! It is amazing to have taken ELK101 and learn all of Corey’s tactics and then watch him in action and know what he did when he did it and why he did it in each situation. This video has it all. A vocal bull that won’t commit that they have to push and get right in his face and an aggressive bull that comes in ready to fight. We just watched 20 years of elk hunting experience in a 20 min video. Can’t wait for this winter when the rest of the video’s start dropping. Thanks for sharing Corey!!

Just another top quality video, these guys do nothing but the best, just a great pleasure to watch, almost feel like I am there with them!!! I don't know any other productions that match these guys for quality, and content, and NO LOUD MUSIC!!!! There isn't any music in the mountains when you are elk hunting, I just don't understand why anyone would think that that is necessary in any hunting video! It detracts from the realism of the moment, and for us hard of hearing older fellows, it just ruins the enjoyment when we have to try to hear what is being said over some obnoxious music!! Thanks Cory and Donny for the top notch enjoyment from your work and efforts to show how it is done in the real world of hunting!!!

Filled two tags that quickly! Easy to say he has more than 10 packages of meat now. Tyler will be eating like a king during recovery from surgery! Nice job calling as usual Corey!

Tyler........you won the lottery this day my friend!! Sure there are the once-in-a-lifetime Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, or Nevada to name a few places a guy can think of hunts that grow mega giant bulls.......but honestly how often dies one man have two elk tags for the same unit in his pocket for the same season, and you fill them both at pretty much the same time?!! The hunting gods smiled down on you and your family in the face of surgery and recovery, and that's something to always cherish

@Iain King here in New Mexico there are landowner vouchers, but they are very expensive. Average cost is about $8000 and you still have to purchase the license. Not very feasible. No over the counter tags for elk in NM
I've been looking every day since the teaser trailer for a video and it was certainly worth the wait! Thanks guys, good work! I still haven't got an elk in the last 5 years, this year included but the passion still burns strong and watching your success gets me pumped up for the next year.
agreed there 5 years so far no archery luck. i hunted hard as hell this year and still couldnt close any closer then 300 yards
@@adharjanadb My two greatest issues were catastrophic failure of my equipment and the wife telling me no, other than that I have personally called in five bulls within 40 to 110 yards. The bulls I called in, one at 40 yards and the other at 60 was for my brother and he couldn't get a clean lane. Hands down the best year of failure I've ever had, sure did learn a lot and thanks to Elk101 it got me that much closer to being successful, I encourage anyone to get involved for greater chances at success.

I'm sorry for my ignorance😔 but what are they chewing on? Or what is that like flat object that they have on their mouth?
Those are called mouth reeds, hunters use them to make the high pitch cow calls and bull bugles. They have a piece of latex on them that vibrates and creates the noise when air is blown beneath them! :)

Packing elk out by yourself is work! I've only shot four elk in my life, 2 cows and 2 bulls. I packed the cows out by myself and it took well past dark to finish. But, it's worth every moment of it, for the adventure and the meat that sustained my family for the better part of a year. Tag soup the last two years. That's life.
