Eternal Champions: Challenge from the Dark Side is a fighting video game for the Sega CD/Mega-CD. It was published in February 1995 in North America and during the same year in Europe.
Like the first game, Eternal Champions CD follows the story of the Eternal Champion, who felt the balance of the universe and time had been disturbed by the deaths of key individuals who had been destined to change the world for the greater good. To restore the balance, he held a great contest in which the winner would be granted the gift of new life, allowing them to fulfill their rightful destiny. In this second chapter, it is revealed that the Eternal Champion has an evil counterpart: the Dark Champion. The Dark Champion appears and declares that he also will enter the contest, and that he has hidden four more warriors, preventing the contest from truly being fulfilled. The contestants must not only achieve the aims of the Eternal Champion but also face the Dark Champion, if they want their lives back.

Never thought I'd live to see a TAS of Eternal Champions
Holy shit! Only if this game could be remade, it would have a lot of fans out there, including me. Looking everything from it look’s crazy and awesome; graphics, characters, gameplay, overkill’s/sudden deaths, creativity and stages.

Why the boss fights aren't in the video? The purpose of a TAS Video is entertainment, this game have 2 bosses, in wich one of them have 9, "NINE" life bars.

I don't know why, but I feel sorry to those victims. UMK3 is a game for children comparing to this. Seriously! There all those fatalities are made just for entertainment and showmanship while here most finishing moves are much more violent and makes me feel those guys don't deserve such a merciless death.
Especially to those female characters. Makes me uncomfortable
Everyone keeps talking about the finishers/fatalities and how great they are but...... you guys neglect to compare the fights themselves, which are pretty bland to be honest. The hits and moves have little to no impact or feeling put into them. In that area MK wins, hands down.
Most of the Fatalities became ridiculous in MK3 and U. Probably, it was because of that ESBR thing.

It was hilarious when you played as Jetta who taunted "pig!" And if you would continue taunting you cut off Shadow midway. Playing with friends devolved into entire matches of taunts of "cow..." "Pig" "cow..." "Pig"

Es la secuela de la versión del mega drive, pero obviamente es para Sega CD
Se dice que la de MD se lanzó a medio terminar por orden de Sega para que la gente optara por esta versión y así elevar las ventas del MEGA CD. No me extrañaría que fuera así, Sega se fue al tacho por tomar malas decisiones como esa.

damn, I was good at this game in my own time but never this good! (with shadow) I played jetta and xavier mostly.
Thats a Tool Assisted Speedrun. It was made to be perfect.

@@coreypolite9831 interesting choice with Shadow lol. Would you leave out any character from the roster? Challenge from the Dark Side included.
@@takodachi8283 Change both Dawson and Senator (they both look too much like Larcen) . Make the Chicken larger (like the Family Guy chicken) and combine him with Snake to make a tandem character like Ice Climbers.

La versión original salió para el tiempo del MK2 y creo que esta versión fue un año después. En ése tiempo casi ningún juego se lanzaba sin sus propias fatalities, jeje.
Pero aquí los fatalities son más brutales y hasta grotescos...

You're taunting a computer.
It was part if the fighting mechanic. The ying yang symbol by the health showed your "spirit energy" that allowed for special moves. Taunting lowered it by 1 quarter. You had to be proactive in combat instead of spamming projectiles.

I hate that this game is so hard. Sega CD version has better gameplay, though. But I like the backstory so much. This game has potential for a remake, they can improve it a lot.

Apparently, yes. This was fairly popular in it's creation. Alas, SEGA went with Virtua Fighter instead.
I don't really blame them, if I had to pick between Virtua Fighter and this... VF was just better in most fields. Also Eternal Champions' ridiculous difficulty did no favors for itself. There's only so much good writing can let a game get away with.
At the time blood in a fighting game was a new concept thanks to the original Mortal Kombat. This sequel had a huge roster with several hidden characters, each stage had 2 pit style fatalities, each character had a unique finishing move, and being 1993 a cinematic "cinekill" from the end boss. Sega killed the franchise after this installment.
