I like to think the Sagittarius isn't so much required to make the ship run, but it's more of an "I am NOT leaving without this" type of deal. Getting a bad ending from not collecting it is just him piloting badly from the guilt of leaving it behind.

Did anyone notice that rogue blue pikmin killing enemies in the water while chugaa was killing the burrowing snagret? It was the exact one that he left behind but that’s sad. That one blue took out 2 enemies and carried one back all by himself! What a trooper.

If you'll notice chuggaaconroy, while you were fighting the burrowing snagret all the way to it's red health, you accidently threw a blue pikmin in the lake below. Now if you look closely at 13:19 you can see him valiantly fighting those two enemies charging him. After he won the battle, you can see him carrying one of their bodies back to base. It's a heroic feat, I would say.
Looking back on this after seeing Stephen and (more recently) Jon play through, seems like the biggest factor is just knowing what you want to do, less so the actual execution - barring things that are obviously ridiculous like deciding to break a bomb wall and then not bringing yellows.

So. I've been replaying pikmin recently. What you ACTUALLY want to do with armored cannon Bettle, is that you want to sneak around with your pikmin and grab the radiation Canopy. Then distract it with Olimar while your pikmin sneak away with the ship part. NO DEATHS! :
I threw the pikmin up the cliff (for the snagret ship part) and didn't take out the bulborbs for I thought they would go back down the ledge. They instead took the longer route but they were able to sneak past the sleeping bulborbs with only about 3 pikmin eaten! Also the blue you left behind was a trooper. He fell off the cliff and into the water, and started murdering baby wollywogs! Sadly, they took 3 pikmin and not 1 to carry so he never made it back on his own and chugga never realized he killed a single wollywog.
My Comments on Ship Parts Radiation Canopy: I want one for my car! Sagittarius: It's a gemstone... Nuff said! Geiger Counter: He doesn't even know what it does?! How is he still alive?!

Its actually really easy to do that sequence break in gamecube version all you do is throw any color pikmin like red or yellow on top of the box then go inside of it hugging the wall then call the pikmin and direct them to the other side its alot easier getting it on day 3 saves time

When I was playing Pikmin. I left those two big sleeping bulborbs alone and all my pikmin carried everything passed them without waking them up. I was shocked.
Just in case you want to know at 4:30 when you were getting the armoured cannon beetle's ship part, the first pikmin you threw to carry it flew over it and landed right behind it on a slope and you didn't notice.
DEEJAY POOPOO Pikmin 3 is a very good exception to that though. Pikmin 3 is my favorite game in the series for 1. Its stunning visuals 2. Large and well done boss fights 3. the fact that you have 3 captains (also that Rocks completely WRECK Wollywogs :3) I do agree that Nintendo does make some BS decisions though.... I mean... do I have to explain Federation Force? But you should give Pikmin 3 a try sometime cause it is pretty good. I really enjoy it! :D
I just realized something about the way the pikmin work, the Onion itself is like the main flower apparently, the pikmen themselves are the "germination process" because they carry the carcasses of enemies and the pellets to the onion, which then sucks out the nutrients and uses those nutrients to make seeds which sprout into actual pikmin
FYI, in the Forest of Hope, You do not need to kill the boss to get that ship part. In other words, if you want to finish the game, you are required to "locate" this optional boss. I know, all the irony. But I just found that out as my filthy disc once again stopped loading.
Good thing I watched this, I tried bringing reds and yellows to the snagret, a majority of them drowned along the way...now all I need to do is raise my blue pikmin...

Actually, I remember reading about a plan for a moon base that used moon dust to make bricks for the outer wall to block out radiation. If moon dust can do that, why can't mud?
there's a really cool sequence break you can do in this level, were you can fight the armored cannon beetle before you get the blue pikmin. but you can only do it in the wii version. all you need is about 7 bomb rocks. step 1 use 4 of your bomb rocks to blow up the black wall guarding the boss. step 2 (the hard part) you half to make a really difficult throw were you throw a bomb rock pikmin near the not watery side of the wall and have them throw the bomb rock at the wall. it's true i swear:)

Such as; food supply, proper bodily waste disposal, or any way to avoid freezing in the deepest parts of space. I know that last one doesn't make sense in real logic since space is sub zero period but in this game i have a feeling its different.
Reds are Battalions, Yellows are Groups, and Blues are Groupies. Does that sound like an accurate depiction? It always sounded more like "Pull!!" to me. It's funny, the beetle's exposed body it overheated, yet it's not limited to reds. So that means Blues and Yellows can handle a certain extent of high heat. Or, the body cools quickly and the shell has a cooltime after opening before closing.

Golden Pikmin= Have all attributes of all other pikmin, mature into flowers very quickly. Leaves a 5,10, or 20, pellet when killed. Only 10 in game.
It's funny how chuggaa left a blue behind because if you take a look at the map at 15:33 you can clearly see a blue near the base,& he didn't even see it!

I REALLY hate that. I'm playing the Gamecube one now and it's a pain in the butt trying to do The Final Trial level with them doing that.

Well he still didn't get any deaths on that fight. I guess it would be less risky.
The armored cannon beetle is a very easy boss and you get some Pikmin from its corpse, but using this strategy is much faster than killing the beetle.
