Wow you bought tears to my eyes Brother seeing this little tunnel run. I used to race tunnels 25yr ago. Boat looks really good. I used to build a balance jig for my racing tunnels boats to get the balance of the boat correct. Keep up the great vids brother. Ty you taking me back down memory lane :)
That Boat is BOSS!!!!!! BIG B. That thing is running really nice, it’s on point for a maiden. That boat is what got me into rc boating, it’s like a blast from the past. Thank u and your subscriber for the trip down memory lane. Great job Big B.
You sure brought this old classic back to life in great style Big B! I didn't know how slick those tunnel hulls were until now! And that outboard? Very COOL! Well done.
Old saying goes. 'There's many a good tune played on an old fiddle'. You've proved that on this fantastic little boat. These boats soon had nitro engines fitted in when they came out. Can you make a mould off it and make a corbon copy of it. Great splash down, go for it Big B.
Nice work sir! As a former NAMBA OB tunnel nat. champ a few decades back (shameless plug), I salute you with what you achieved right out of the gate. Thank u for all you do for our hobby.
What hulls did you guys run in competition? I've been looking at a taboo, vision and lee craft style hull for my next tunnel hull build. Have you ever herd of them?
Pretty sick little boat. I have an old nitro thunder tiger that I've been thinking of converting with a TFL outboard. I love the F1 hulls. You will get hooked. They are a blast to tune! Keep it up big B!👍🤙
Very cool. I purchased one of these kits when it came out brand new. Was a ni-cad killing machine. 2 speed. Low speed was 2 six cell packs in parallel and high speed changed from parallel to series doubling the voltage. Things got very hot if you ran it long in high speed. I ended up selling that boat and like many things in life I sure wish I had kept it. Nice job scoots with brushless setup. I like it.
Awesome to see the old girl on the water. I run a octura v937 prop on mine you will get some cavation out of the hull not to bad so fatlr its my favorite prop for the boat
Nice👍👍👍 good job brother, pretty cool you took the time and effort to get that old girl running again 🤘 neighbor had one when we were kids and it's a sweet ass boat 👍
Hi Big B. I had one of them about 20 years ago, I spotted it looking sad and lonely on a shelf in my local model shop so obviously I had to bring it home with me. I ran mine on 3s which was reasonable, but that outboard could be a right arse at times. Still, good work B
I had the MRP back in the 90s. You had to build up on the pads at the rear about 3/16ths of an inch and taper it to 0 in about 4 inches best I can remember. This makes it run flatter and actually less of the hull is wet. I had an OS outboard on mine which I was not impressed with. I switched back to my K&B. It would be a lot more fun brushless as you have more options with moving weight and such.
Nice looking boat! 👌 It's going almost the same on the water as my moddified Kyosho Wave Master. And I'm also not using that big engine cover. I just make small cover on the back of canopy, that's covering motor from splashing water. The sound it's the same and I also can't go trough the corner fast as it's starts pressing outer edge deep to the water. I thought that it's caused by weight, as I'm using "vintage" brushed setup (big Plettenberg engine with 18 cells, boat ready to run 2690 grams). Also that "standing" motor creates a bit of gyroscopic force I think, which not helping much. But your one is much lighter for sure, but doing the same as well. But in the straight line they are going like bullets!😉
what a cool boat brother.ive been out of the game for a while because of family problems. But im starting to get my boats ready.take care brother .looking forward to your new videos
I picked up a Aquacraft top speed 2. I have a K&B 3.5 with an electric conversion. Running 6s. It's pretty fast outboards perform different from the inboard
Nice job Big B !!! First time out and the old girl (Betty Lite) ran great. 🤣 My one and only experience with tunnel hulls was a blast, they are the most fun when running on the edge of flipping over-nose high and literally flying on the tunnel of air just like the full size boats. Although I don’t think this one will take the abuse. Not that we abuse any of our boats right 👍 BGFL
Great maiden run! I think setting the prop higher will increase the speed quite a bit. I'm curious to see if you can resolve the right-corner oversteer. I would think it is mainly due to the very low deadrise of the sponsons. It is a great boat to your collection 😎👍
Looking good Big B! Turn down the dual rate cause outboards don't need a lot of steering throw. Mess with the prop height and angle and stay on power in the corners and it should hold the line without swapping ends. That hull is shorter and more narrow than the modern F1 boats, but it can still be competitive. You're on the right track so with a little tinkering and tuning she will dial in. Regardless, she looks awesome scooting across the pond. So much livery in that boat. A blast from the past indeed! Cheers!
After watching this video, RUclips recommended a video on the MRP F1 boat by a channel called "Odds and Ends RC". He acquired an excellent sample of this boat on eBay. His boat was equipped with a turn fin that is mounted on the inside of the right sponson approximately at the boat's centerline. This kind of jogged my memory. I believe that the turn fin was not a stock part, but either MRP or some other company offered the turn fin as an option and it helped the boat stay planted in the corners. I thought I'd share this with you because it might be an option for you if you exhaust all other tuning options and the boat still hooks in the corners.
The Kyosho Wavemaster tunnel hull is much lighter than the MRP hull. I currently have a Graupner brushed outboard on the Wavemaster. The Graupner outboard is direct drive - no cable. It would be nice to put a brushless motor on the Graupner lower unit.
I've been running brushless outboard tunnels and I have a ose hyperdrive on a 28" pathfinder cat hull (xcat) Try running them flat to the ride surface. Pushing the back of the boat down scrubs off alot of speed. I run 6s on my outboards but doubtful that one would handle it.
I have several Kyosho lower units that I have always thought about converting to brushless. I probably have 6 lower units. I had 3 MRP tunnel hulls like yours that I threw away 5 years ago when moved.
Girls don't run rc boats😳.......do they? 😁 Sorry couldn't help myself and I know y'all do 👍 fastest person in 8th scale buggy and short course 2wd mod is of the female persuasion ✌️👍
its a little different feeling with this style hull right ?... i have the bad habit of right hand turn clockwise because of out riggers. but these will turn just as well left/ batteries up front these guys really like to go airborne.. batteries up front. i wouldnt push this hulls limit to much if you want to keep it.... 4s max i would think. its kinda weird the way they loose there plane on turns. kinda why tunnels and cvataramans arent my first choice. id leave it the way it is and shelf queen it...
i like to guess. i talk about my experiencxe with similiar style boats, make a comment.. then watch the video to see if it handles like i thought it would lol ;]
Hey brother I have a question! I have sonicwake 36 and I want to put a new propeller for it but I don’t have a really good understanding but I know you do! So what prop would you go and buy for your sonicwake! Budget is around 50$ ! Appreciate you and your videos are the best
@@IRONCLADRC you nailed it just all around faster ! I don’t race it like ovals but I have a few buddies who all have boats and I would like just more speed but I want it to turn! That’s another question I have for you! I was think about getting bigger turn fins I was thinkin 82mm by 30mm ? Do you think that would be to big for the boat ?
Octura 642 is a good all-around prop but there kinda hard to find at times. 4519 ose or Oxidean prop is a good choice. Also octura x445 but it's a warm running prop on the stock electronics.
maybe vintage to you , dumas with k&b 3.5 nitro outboard, kit . yep had to lay glass etc. mid 70's with tilt n trim mod , still runs great , but getting harder to find piston and sleeve's for it. be a easy elect conversion but the outboards are going for big dollars,

You breathed new life into that antique rc. As usual, you managed to do the seemingly impossible. Great job bro

Nice little running boat. Cant wait to get my Madflow V2 hull fitted up with an outboard. Something different to build and run! Good stuff!!👍🏻
I agree, I like a change all I've been running here lately are mono and catamarans with a hydroplane thrown in to the mix evey now and again.

I do have a Kyosho Wavemaster which is also a nice tunnel. I am going to put the TFL mini outboard from OSE after I reinforce the hull and sponsons.
