We are starting a higher end brand and have about 12 or so designs on multiple products from kimonos to yoga pants and the samples we have ordered have been excellent. We are now about ready to take it to our own store and begin the process of truly branding... wish us luck!

    Hi Mey! I am watching this video since I'm new on AOW and I don't know if someone tells you or if you find already but there's also "Le Galeriste" that provides fabrics by the meter. It's based in Montreal too. It's a bit different, since they don't allow us to fully customize items, they do for us with the images we upload. Also, there is an exclusivity close in the contract with them, which means you cannot sell the same image on others platforms and a limited upload unless you sell for 1000$ so... it's not as friendly as others POD platforms, but they have great quality products, I love the tote bag I order with one of my photography on it. Thank you for all your videos, very helpful and fun to watch :)

    Zazzle has fabrics too I believe. I'm looking into them, I'm still not sure what I want to do, I started creating planners on KDP, so something related eventually, but I'm still learning that, so it has to wait... Until that, I'm trying to implement what I've learnt from you about Pinterest marketing. ❤️
    Zazzle's speciality is that the products are customizable, so you can design something that has also a name on it for example, and anyone can switch that name out to their own. I like that they pay royalty, which is much easier for legal and tax purposes than if you're the seller and you pay them a fee. I believe both RB and Etsy have the later business model. Oh, I wish I had more time. You're giving me so much inspiration. ☺️ I like that AOW has pencil cases, and the bags look awesome too. 😍

    • @MeyTribe
      @MeyTribe  2 года назад +1

      Yeah, I know about Zazzle and fabrics, also a lot of other platforms have fabrics... And the commission part with Zazzle is def easier for taxes, although it's also like that in about 40 other POD marketplaces (in every POD marketplace actually).
      Not sure what you mean by RB and Etsy's business model- as Etsy is a "mall" with 0 products made by Etsy, and RB is a supplier with a marketplace, can you explain ?

    • @annabellak.2864
      @annabellak.2864 2 года назад

      @@MeyTribe Sorry if I wasn't clear. I only meant, that for tax purposes, YOU pay them fees, and not THEY pay you commission. So for your taxes, and if you need to write invoices by law, you need to cover the whole price, not just the part they paid you. If you can deduct expenses then the fee can appear there I suppose. But in the EU there's the complication of who has to pay VAT for the fees (need VAT id or not?, Administration?), which I still don't understand completely, though discussed with an accountant several times. And also for physical products, if you're the seller legally, at least in my country, there are different legal requirements, I think it is more complicated (especially internationally), and means more administration=more time.
      For RB I'm not sure I'm right, because I'm not native English speaker, but they have a line in their terms I understand this way. Which surprised me, because other POD marketplaces, like Society6, or Zazzle, pay commission or royalty.

    I have created at least 10 designs on kimono a couple weeks ago. I even ordered one myself and I really love the fabric, it feels so smooth on the skin. I have doubt about the pricing as well because they’re kinda expensive compared to a $20 t-shirt on Redbubble like you said, and they don’t have mock ups with real model wearing it so it’s kinda hard to advertise. I find pictures of people wearing the stuff look more engaging. I also have failed to find kimono mock ups on other sites so I’m a little bit worried about the marketing part. But I hope things go well for everyone.

    • @MeyTribe
      @MeyTribe  3 года назад

      I totally feel ya... I was also looking for Kimono mockups so hard and couldn't find much.
      And yeah, they are def not cheap, but their quality makes them something "else"... It's why I was thinking they will be more suitable for a print on demand Shopify store, and not on Etsy, to show the LUX thing.

    • @chikzdigmohawkz
      @chikzdigmohawkz 3 года назад +2

      The only thing with Spoonflower is that some of the fabrics start to fade and/or pill (get little fuzzies) after a few months of use & washing. I'm interested to see how AOW compares in that regard. I haven't heard anything bad about Spoonflower's wallpaper, though.

  • @lldd11
    @lldd11 2 года назад +1

    I sold their items om etsy and other platforms about 7-8 years ago, and profit was minimum and then went to non existent when etsy opened to public and allowed all kind of products, so I closed my store about 5-6 years ago, because affort no worth profit. That is in general the case with print on demand, you put so much efforts and the peanuts you make wanna make you cry. If you work in McDonalds all the time that you spend on POD and marketing - you would make x1000 more money.

    • @MeyTribe
      @MeyTribe  2 года назад

      I can totally relate to that. Especially with AOW- as I believe their items are SO expensive for normal marketplaces., If I were to use them that would be on a Shopify store, selling them with a huge profit, high ticket prices, and doing all the product photos myself, after ordering the items, no mockups. Like a true-high fashion brand., Cause with Etsy, and these prices- there's very little chance of making it work.
      Are you doing POD today anywhere ?
