For anyone who grew up in the 80's... That song just takes you to a time and place you can never forget. And probably wish you were living in again now.
I ended up becoming a guitar player AND an aviation enthusiast with a master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, all thanks to Maverick himself, the OG Top Gun. The sequel was probably the most exciting thing that happened to me in recent years. Happy Topgun:Maverick premier. May the inverted flight be with you B-)

At last - Top Gun Anthem played correctly the way Steve does it - with the main theme on the D and G strings up around the 10th fret. Outstanding job, and great attention to detail.
Thanks! I noticed in the video he plays it in various positions, which I think is mainly for show, so I did that at the start. But yes, all the live vids I saw, Steve was playing it up the neck, so I mainly stayed there too. I think that gives the right tone.
@@bwm5150 I think it's actually down in 5th/3rd position on the G and B strings in the original recording. There's a bunch of incidental open G and Bs in the part if you slow it way down that kinda give it away. It makes all the natural harmonics easier to hit too since you're already down there. This is where he's playing it in various shots from the original cheesy music video in the hangar with Harold too. This is definitely the closest cover out there though feel wise - great job! That slide off and back into the E near the tail end of the main line is crucial to making this sound right and almost no one gets it.

One of my favorites ever, and simple as it is it's so strong! Once again, you mastered it perfectly, even the pinch harmonics. Top Gun wouldn't be the same without this Faltermeyer/Stevens "pearl".

@@RyanMaziarz there’s only two open string dive bombs in the whole piece, none on the B. Steve seems to always play live on the D and G up the frets
