Seems he’s not so Colm anymore
Wow
That... Was a fantastic dad joke.
9/10 Laugh factor
8/10 cringe factor
10/10 would dad joke again
😂
Alright we're cutting you off the McGuinness.
Interviewer: So Colm, what genre of music do you produce?
Colm: Yes.
I: umm.. and your vocal range?
C: Yes.
Damn dude... This got me 🥵😍
Think he could pull of high pitched....he propably could right? Lol.
@@eliasnilsson6604yeah dude, check out his "what could have been" cover, he goes SUPER high on that.
Same 😍😍
Please tell me there's a chance of us getting Old Norse and folk metal covers in the future. I need more of this in my life
Look up the bands Týr and Skálmöld
this is in old norse, and he already did it normally in old norse
Honestly not really enjoying the metal/rock version of Colm.
I followed bc of the Folk music. Quickly being turned away from him….
@@CC-iu7sq you can’t expect to like everything from a creator, I’m sure he’ll mix things up and have a bit of both and maybe more. This shouldn’t be enough to turn you off his content completely
@@CC-iu7sq Music creators will experiment and explore many mediums, especially when they have the vocal range and skills to do what Colm can do. If you don't like it, just don't listen to it. There's no need to just bash something just because someone wants to explore their talents.
So Colm can scream now too. The man has no limits to his voice... What's next, is he going to admit to us that he also beatboxes.
Amazing version of the song and expression of talent.
You have given him ideas
Oh Lord 🤣
Colm having good technique in a wide range for vocal areas probably makes learning other parts a lot easier. Beatboxing would definitely be a lot different but I bet he could learn it really fast having good control already.
To play devil's advocate, I didn't know I could scream until I was about 25-27. I even did 4 years of varsity marching band, wrestling, and cross country. Didn't know I could actually, genuine get that bass in my voice until I had 2-3 kids. Now I practice thrash and black metal with my husband to keep him on key. I don't have the best voice ever, but it is a voice that's on key. 4 years of marching band, 6 years of all county, and 2 years of all state gave me a great ear, just not a horribly pleasant voice.
"I am an expert in beatboxing"
"since when?"
"since yesterday"
Chilling deep vocals? check!
Beautiful haunting folk music? check!
Brutal growls? check!
Bone crunching heavy metal? check!
Epicness overload? oh hell yeah!!

Hey guys!
This poem, Þat mælti mín móðir, was written in approx year 917 by my great great great... (repeat "great" 26 times hehe) grandfather Egill Skallagrímsson. I am his direct descendant 28 generations up (like probably a large chunk of Icelanders alive today, haha).
Egill Skallagrímsson was born in Iceland in the year 910 and is the main character in one of the most famous Icelandic Sagas, "Egils saga Skallagrímssonar". He was the son of Skallagrímur Kveldúlfsson, who emigrated from Norway. They settled in the West of Iceland and the farmhouse Borg is where they made their home. The small town of Borgarnes, a stone's throw away bears the name of farmhouse. Egill was quite the character. At the tender age of 7, he was playing sports with the neighbour's kid, Grímur Heggsson that was a strong 11 year old, and Grímur was giving Egill a hard time so Egill just killed him. As you do... haha. That's what vikings do. haha. After this his mother told him he would make a fine viking and Egill wrote this poem on that occasion.
It should be noted that the Icelandic language has changed very little since that time. Here's Egill's original poem (1st vers), followed by the modern Icelandic version:
Þat mælti mín móðir,
at mér skyldi kaupa
fley ok fagrar árar,
fara á brott með víkingum,
standa upp í stafni,
stýra dýrum knerri,
halda svá til hafnar
hǫggva mann ok annan,
Það mælti mín móðir,
að mér skyldi kaupa
fley og fagrar árar,
fara á brott með víkingum,
standa upp í stafni,
stýra dýrum knerri,
halda svo til hafnar
höggva mann og annan,
Þorsteinn Kolbeinsson
Holy shit dude that's fuckin epic
I love that I know this! Props to your many-greats-grandfather (for the poem/lyrics...not the murder).
Also, wow - you weren't kidding about the minimal differences; English is the polar opposite!
bruh that's sick as hell, I'm just descended from a long line of tavernkeeps in Innsbruck lol
That's friggin badass bro
Like if Atreus from God of War grew up, listened to one metal song and said... I'll create my own Ragnarok... with my voice.
This is going to epic. When you know it’s Colm singing video you know it’s going to be epic
Well, it is
Colm and Peyton Parrish is the duo we need on some Viking songs
the world would be thrown back into the viking age
100% someone get these men in touch
YEEEES!
Hell yeah this duo would bring the Vikings back to life again!!!
It would be epic
Real glad that Colm made a new version of this song, it’s going to be amazing
FUCK YEAH THAT WAS EPIC!!! WE NEED MORE OF THIS!!!
Another cover of an amazing song from the people i can call my own and if it will be in Old Norse it will hit close to home. Knowing you Colm, we listeners will not be disappointed. Keep up your work and god bless your voice i want it so badly.
Edit: After hearing this i can truly say that it brought warmth to my cold Scandinavian heart. Hearing you sing with such passion and power in a language that layed the foundation for the language i can call my own. Really amazing work on this one Colm. Worthy of a seat in Valhalla and the halls of Odin.
Is Norse very similar to other Scandinavian languages?
@@Skipperau In some ways they are. Icelandic is very closely related to Old Norse, probably the closest we have to Old Norse today. Old Norse did lay the foundation for the other Scandinavian languages such as Swedish, Norwegian and Danish but it’s not as closely related.
Okay I was wondering if I heard a hurdy-gurdy and then I saw it and yes. I cannot express the yes. Everything about this song is beyond perfect, from the vocals to the instruments. Colm is a modern bard capable of anything and I love it.
Skald. The Norse term is skald
dude you should do more songs that includes screaming, your voice is POWERFUL
People : How far your voice can go ?
Colm Mc Guiness : F*CK YES
One of Loki's nicknames was "fire hair". I can't help but feel but he's somehow channeled in the screams of this song. Freaking AWESOME rendition of this song!! Gave me the chills!
2:07 caught me off guard so badly 😆. What an incredible moment that was!
So excited to see Colm and John Theodore collab on this; it's going to be amazing!
One of the better renditions I've heard!!!
The best version of My Mother Told Me ever. Period.
Yes.
Fully agree
The more I listen to your music, the more convinced I am that you can sing literally anything. Your range, showmanship, and ability to cross genres with ease are amazing skills.
I love Colm's first cover of this song. Simply performed, and all the more beautiful for it. The old Norse version is haunting and powerful, wonderful show case of Colm's lower range. Then there this, I'm not even sure what to say about this third cover but I had a big smile on my face the whole time. A stunning piece of work!
After your last Celtic Rock video, I am looking forward to this one. I was always interested how one of you Bass-singers fit in the Metal-context. Cant wait for tomorrow 🤘
Just watched the video and I have nothing much to add besides that it was even more epic than I hoped for. You almost convinced me, that it is going to be a slow version with a heavy groove to it...
When album? 😆
Like I wasn’t already obsessed with your first two versions enough you had to go and add a third. Amazing!!
Same :D I can't even say which I like best, since each is in a different style.
Oh my gosh!! I'm already getting chills. This is going to be incredibly epic!
Still listen to your old norse cover on a daily basis and I really can't wait for this one. Gotta admit, I never really listened to a lot of metal so I'm just getting into this genre but the combination sounds great:)
I'm late to commenting but..........................wow. This is my favorite style of this song by far. I was very surprised when you shifted from the clean vocals to the screaming lyrics. I was taken aback by the transformation of your makeup as well. Showed the intensity of metal in a wonderful display. Awesome as usual!
The chills did not leave, only increased with time
I'm so glad I get to add this to my spotifly viking list
You have a surprisingly good scream-sing voice! Is there anything you CAN'T sing?!
My mother told me, that many versions of this song I shall listen to,
As I don my headphones, judgement I shall pass,
I close my eyes to feel more hairs rise on my arms,
This version slays the most, head rolls one by one, rolling one by one.
I already know this will be excellent! I absolutely love war paint! It really suits you!
this version is so-so norse-epic that it couldn't be spoken!
music is incredible, voice and all it's changes are gourgeous - and visuals, icluding makeup, are just amazing.
thank you for this art, it was all i needed tonight.
I have been listening to this on repeat since the premier, and I have to say, this song is powerful and already one of my favorites.
Thank you Colm for making such amazing and breathtaking music for others to enjoy.
I somehow haven't gotten around to listening to this one until now, which is odd because metal is my favorite genre, and all I can say is HOLY SHIT MAN THAT WAS GLORIOUS!!! I never new you could metal scream with that level of intensity!!
Anyone else get the urge to start a mosh with that amazing vocals? Or is it just me
Folk metal, hello there :D
The hurdy gurdy addition sounds great.
By Thors beard.. I peed myself a lil. It's so fcking good *chef's kiss* Please Colm, we need more of this norse folk metal!!
The part starting around 2 minutes goes SO. HARD. The makeup design change was sick too! You need to do more stuff like this!!
Never thought I'd get slightly jumpscared in a Colm video. That was a fun surprise honestly? I dig the makeover change at the screamo part.
As always, love your work! I'll be jamming this for a long time
FINALLY!!! The song in it's original language! It sounds even better!
This cover and the Gingertail one have to be my absolute favorite versions of this song! 🤘
The way you project emotion is absolutely amazing.
Funny enough, that tells me you are probably a very kind man in person.
That was awesome, 10/10 as usual and it was a metal version of one of my favorite songs covered by you so that just made it better
The Hurdy Gurdy is now a new obsession of mine!
Your metal covers are by far some of your best work. That's saying something too because the other stuff is epic as hell to begin with.
That was absolutely AMAZING. Took me from still sleepy to ready for battle in less than 3 minutes
SO EXCITED!
So Colm can metal scream effectively? Not surprised in the slightest 🤘
I love your music man. the way you go from high pitched to deep is bliss to my ears
Wow! That was incredible! I was not expecting that! Awesome Job, Colm!👍🏾👍🏾
Вау, вышло потрясающе. Не думала, что можно так органично совместить фолк и метал
not me missing the premiere by 8 minutes, lol goddamit. but when you said viking metal last week, I was beyond hoping it'd be for this song. but in old norse? complete mad lad! and we love to see it. absolutely insane. 12/10. another one to add to the repeat spotify history!!
What have I just witnessed? The growls man!! Please do more growls!
So very hard keeping my excitement for this one under wraps. I love everything about this. You are extraordinary ❤️
I've never heard this as a metal song. That was brilliant!!!!
Do you know the version from Saltatio Mortis? Not exactly metal but also cool
Saltatio Mortis did a metal cover too, about a year ago. They are using a Hurdy Gurdy too and even some bagpipes.
@@rosiimoni I've never heard of him....going to check it out
@@mindscraper1978 Just checked it out. Love it!!!
It will be epic when you see Colm uploaded a new video
Now is he not only my favorite vocalist, he is now my favorite metal performer.
Love the costume and face paint. I'm always impressed by your sheer vocal ability... this blew me away.
As I got thrown out of chat... Again 🤣
This was 🤘🔥 you and Theodore shook the world and the Colmpany did show again why it is the nicest and most fun live chat on the internet. 🫶
This shits dangerous, one minute I was jamming out to this and the next I was sharpening my axe with a stone and my boat was on fire...
...Holy shit, man. This is incredible.
I am not usually into anything screamy, but it's hard not to like it when it's Colm. Well done, lad.
I wish I could have liked this multiple times, both for the hurdy gurdy playing AND the norse metal singing. I think this next album drop might be the most epic yet.
Par odin tu sais screamé !!! Mais magnifique c'est génial !!!!! Colm+ du folk pagan metal je crois rêver merci infiniment !!!!
How did this turn out more epic then I already expected is to be?😳
Thundering lows and screams? I wonder what a mix of the two could create. Can't wait to hear more of this in the future!
Well this is going on the gym workout playlist. Thank you Colm!
Colm you are great!!!
Gods i needed something like this. My eight year old boxer dog had to be put to sleep today. My baby boy had a tumor blocking part of his gut, and while I'm grateful he isn't in pain anymore I'll still miss him. Runt of his litter, then the last, and Lucky all the way.
офигеть! я аж вспотел.. мурашки прям волнами бегают на каждой строчке)) потрясающе!
thank you, sir!
mr. Colm like a God of new religion!
i'm very glad that I was born at the same time as you!
I'm literally listening this versions for 3 weeks in a roll 4234x a day. I loved so much this song, gods! Listening during the work it's the best choice. Love you Colm, always continue with this wonderful work ❤️❤️
Can't wait Colm! SO excited!!
The sound got my hairs standing on its end's loving the music
This may be the best of your covers ever. I love it. Loved the metal, so much. This is amazing.
Aye Colm McGuinness, great job as always, I see improvements in your vocals and usage of light combined with transition in appearance! Personally I was stunned by seeing you screaming in metal and still it is on point. Keep it rollin 🤙🏻.
man, upvoting before it even starts ... I already know I'll like it
Found my new "need to put it on loop right now" song.
Holy... Those screams were f-in AMAZING! MOOOORE METAL, BROTHER! and some growls could be great too) So good to see (or, I think, to hear) you in a new style.
Viking metal plus Colm's really deep voice?
Sign me up!
Whoa!!!! That was crazy awesome!!! Yarl Colm bringing all the battle inspirstu9n with that one!!!
My second favorite thing this week. The first was the post about Crested Geckos.
This is the best version I've heard! I'll need more of this, please and thank you 👏🏻💙
DAMN that send shivvers down my spine. Absolutely awesome cover.
Colm McGuiness is the greatest bard of all time. I can not be convinced otherwise.
What a brilliant song! Very epic and it very much suits your voice. And, as I'm finding out right now, a lovely piece of music to write heroic battle scenes to!
I also just subscribed to John's channel, because who doesn't like a grand bit of hurdy gurdy playing? ;)
Thanks for the inspiration! Keep up the great work.
I hoped a long time, you will create a cover song for (my mother told) in norse folk METAL version, it´s awesome. :) and i love your style of music . epic!.
I wish you well. Be health you, your family and friends. May what you desire most come true. You are my inspiration and I appreciate you :) Tom
Officially my fav version of this song
From what I heard on Spotify. This will be grand
Never downloaded a track on Apple music this fast. Damn thats epic!
C'est magnifique comme prévu !!!!!!!!!
Excuse my language.....
But this is.... FUCKING BADASS !!!
If i could like this a million times, i would with no hesitation.
Absolutely fantastic, great job on another one Colm. : ) Also this piece with a non metal head audience is great for giving me the nostalgia of seeing the term 'screaming' again, it's been a long time since I have heard that.
I didn't know he could sound like that. Holy crap, this is amazing

Dramatic metal arrangement of an ancient chant... as another offering says in Old Norse, gef mér meirr! Well done, sir.
Truly mind blowing!!! Perfect!!! Hail from Greece!!!!!!

Please keep up everything your doing! Rock on brother!
There should be a limit on how awesome you can be, this is so fucking great that it should be illegal!
