I agree. We cannot have a wall box, so don't make the intended use of the Octopus tariffs. Supermarkets give free electricity, so we recharge at 22kW 3 phase, every week, while my wife is shopping. 3,000 miles plus, and counting. Direct cost to us: Zero. It will not last forever, but we've saved over £600 in fuel costs already.

Be very careful with octopus Go tariffs.
They shout about how cheap it is for 4 hours a day but ramp up the other 20 hours unit cost and daily charge. Get you past bills and work it out to the unit, you’ll probably pay more overall than being on Economy 7. Plus you lose 3 hours of off peak for the rest of the items running in your house.
They are a very sneaky company.

A huge amount of money with octopus. Smart meters don't work, so you end up paying full price for your charging and not the cheap overnight rate advertised

I am so disappointed in the customer care I have received from Octopus. Their Go account was so appealing when I got an electric car, however, the hassle and headaches it has caused has been unbelievable. My smart meter stopped sending half hourly readings which they only found out about because I highlighted a problem - not them! Over a year later, I have been charged full rate and stung with a bill for over £1000 (over and above monthly DD) with the ultimate reply being ‘it is in the terms and conditions’. What a waste of time and money.

Hi Peter, I'm keen to find out what's happened here. Could you pop your details down here: octo.ps/fb-help and I'll take a look?

So here is a good example of fully electric cars not moving on the domestic market , because a lot of people are still not convinced, nor some of the dealers when you consider to part ex back to petrol or Diesel.

This video didn't age well, you need a second mortgage to charge your electric car now.

How is four quid a night for a 330 mile range car a second mortgage?

@@ashleybarrett8805 I assume he means using public chargers, which nowadays invariably work out more expensive per mile than an ICE (I have both a diesel and an EV). This video is disingenuous to make the blanket statement that EVs are cheaper. Home charging on Octopus Go is indeed very cheap (now 5 hours at 8.5p/unit), but you won't get 330 miles in a 5 hour session with a normal 7kW (in reality nearer 6.5kWh) type 2 home charger - 125 miles would be nearer the mark.
